  1. I used a 1GB card and had no problems getting everything on there. You have other problems. Make sure you do a full format of the card and try redownloading/extracting everything to the root of the card.
  2. Thanks, I had most of the bits figured out, except for the middle one for the number of characters in the channel's name. Now I'm just going to wait until the channel line ups are all changed for XM. The rumor is somewhere around November 17th, all Sirius and XM MUSIC channels will be merged into one lineup. Most of XM's music looks like they will be scrapped. There's more info on XMFan.com. For now, I'll experiment with the Imagetbl.dat file in Winhex.
  3. I have found the folder for all XM icons/Category Graphics in My Flash Disk/Data/XM/... Not very hard to find, lol. They have changed quite a few of the channels up lately, so I figured it would be a good time to start looking into getting these icons updated. Will post up any work I do on any new icons.
  4. Keep me posted YettaVR6 on modding the voice. My only and I mean my ONLY complaint with the unit right now is how the voice never seems to STFU with the turns. It sounds like you did EXACTLY what I want to have done with the voice. Right now I have the mute button mod which is a beautiful thing, but it would be nice to not have to hear about my turn every 10 feet. Awesome work man!
  5. There were some small changes to the file for the 2.0 update. I had a similar problem with the nav not loading up with the modified navigatemap file. I fixed this by taking the new version of the file and adding in the appropriate lines of code. Attached is my navigate map file which works perfectly for me. Edit: Also, you shouldn't need the empty button image file, just the other two. Also, make sure that you are using a program like 7zip so that you're never actually extracting and repacking the data.zip file. With 7zip you can work with, browse, edit, and inject the data.zip file withou
  6. My boot time to iPod is about 35 seconds, a minute to full boot and XM audio after 10 seconds. TOTALLY Acceptable. My Kenwood 8120 takes about 30 sec for iPod, 50 seconds for full boot with bluetooth.
  7. I had a very similar problem when I attempted my 360 with my original Avic back in June. Basically, try running some other video source into the unit that is NOT powered by the car (ie, an iPod, PSP, camcorder, anything that you plug into the AV input that is battery powered). If you don't get the distortion, then you know it has to do with the power inverter you are using for the Playstation. Most inverters are not a true sine wave inverter (Ones that are, are VERY expensive) and will not be giving the system true alternating current and will be feeding it a modified sine wave. This is fine f
  8. AWESOME FIND! BTW ITS UPPP!!!!! http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/avicfseriesupdate2
  9. Hehe, YAY! And my Avic will be here in about an hour. Coincidence? I think NOT. lol. I should have ordered my Avic sooner. Can Not Wait. Jason, did you hear about this from Pioneer or what?
  10. I actually got the 5120 after I got rid of my beloved D3. Then when they announced the F series, I figured "Hey, I miss my D3 and now they have this awesome voice control version of it with better everything!" and I jumped the gun and sold my 5120 a week or so before I was able to get my hands on the F700. Once I got the F700 and saw how terrible the software was, I ran away from it and the guys at my local shop cut me an awesome deal on the 8120 for all the crap I went through with the F series, being a guinea pig for it and all. They gave me the 8120 pretty much at cost, so it wasn't THAT mu
  11. I modified an existing wallpaper I found on the internet and overlayed it with text using the VW font. For those curious, the font is called "Futura LT Medium" and I used it in bold to recreate the VW font. Here you go:
  12. I don't think 2A of DC output will be nearly enough to successfully power the unit at any kind of load. The AVIC has a max draw at 10A DC and your AC/DC adapter tops out at 2A. The worst that will probably happen though, is that your adapter will overheat and fry when the load builds up on it. It will probably allow the Avic to power up as it can operate at 12V, but the current draw will be too great for the adapter.
  13. Well, Just placed my order for an F700BT. Will be posting my Kenwood 8120 on ebay within the next week providing the F700 is SOMEWHAT usable until the FW update hits. I was one of the first F700 owners back in June, before the first FW update. So last time I used it, the BT quality was CRAP, the nav never STFU, the screen was dim as hell, the iPod tracks were totally out of order, voice control took forever to work and didn't at all if VR Catalog got turned off after cataloging. Also, voice control for Bluetooth didn't work worth a damn either. So, I returned it and spent a ton of ex
  14. The cable won't make a difference. I was one of the first batch of people to get an F series (F700) and couldn't get the iPod cable for it right away. I used the standard Apple USB cable and it still dropped it every time I started the unit up. It's definitely a software problem. If they get this fixed along with the bootup time, my Kenwood DNX 8120 will be going up on ebay.
  15. SMS over Bluetooth must be supported on the Phone. Here is the list of Phones supported on the Kenwood 8120 (which I have) which supports SMS TTS. I can only assume that since Parrot does the BT for Kenwood, the same phones *should* have the same available features for the Pioneer. As you can see, only a select few support it. A couple Nokia, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson sets work for text support. Hopefully with more factory systems coming out with TTS SMS (The 09 Ford Sync/MyGig), more carriers will enable this feature. http://www.kenwood.com/bt/information/pdf/BT200_08MM_ver160.pdf
  16. WOW! Can someone post a pic of the improved screen brightness in daylight?? Dammit dammit dammit, now I might have to sell my 8120! LOL. I'm gonna wait and see if there are any major bugs in this firmware before I jump ships again. On the plus side, I still have all my Pioneer accessories to go with a 700BT (XM, etc). Also hows the bluetooth? And also, does it "drop" the ipod sometimes when after starting the car, like where you have to reconnect it to get the Avic to see it again? Thanks! Can't wait to hear more reports!
  17. Random works PERFECTLY. I have left it on for days at a time and it works great, turning on and off. Zero issues. The touchscreen is more sensitive than any other I have used. Did you have one of the firmware update units? I know freezing/touchscreen insensitivity was an issue in the first few batches. Go to a local shop and try one out on their wall and see if it works the way you want it to.
  18. Yeah, it sounds like you guys may have gotten some of the units that were supposed to be recalled for a firmware update. That happened the first week they were out with the initial batch. Crutchfield had them for few days when they came out then they pulled them and sent them all back to Kenwood for the firmware update. There may have been old stock floating around in other distribution centers for other shops that never got sent back. You can tell if you had one of the updated units by a green circular sticker on the outside of the box that said "Updated" or something to that effect. If y
  19. My Kenwood has never froze once. Been using it everyday for near a month now.
  20. For the iPod, all you need is the KCA-IP300V. $25-30 at most places. The nice part is, that with the Kenwood, it uses its own dedicated iPod Video input feed and does not at all hog up or interfere with the main Video 1/2 inputs.
  21. Thats the cool part about the GXM30 is that even though it appears to be just the antenna, the XM tuner is actually built right in to the thing. The GXM 30 is actually built by Garmin and plugs into the Mini USB port on the back of the Kenwood 7120/8120. Mind you, if you get the DNX5120, you can't use the GXM30 with it and you have to buy all sorts of adapters to get XM. Even then, the XM will go through the Kenwood interface, there will be no navtraffic, etc. Don't get thrown off by the MSRP of the GXM30. I got mine from an ebay seller for about $155 shipped. Not too bad considering it do
  22. The Kenwood 5120 + BT module does indeed feature voice dialing and should have zero problems with the iPhone. It uses Parrot just like the Pioneer units do. Some pics of my install before I downgraded to the F700/F90, and then upgraded to the Kenwood 8120.
  23. I've been pondering setting up my own forum for Kenwoods. Just gotta find the time. DNXDomain anyone? I've been kicking the idea around. Just gotta figure out when and the best way to do it.
  24. If you get the Nav traffic GXM30 XM Radio tuner, the XM is done in a Garmin-like interface. You can do a memo like function with it. You can even compile your own list of favorite artists. When you go into your favorites list, then "Add favorites", and can scroll through the list of every song and artist currently on and just check them all off at once, or do just one at a time. When one of your favorites comes on one of your preset channels, a little heart icon appears next to the number. If you hit the "Scan" button it will continue to play your current station until one of your list of
