  1. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... EX-P5700TV You may be able to get one on eBay but this time next year it will be a brick.
  2. Interesting that Pioneer pointed the IR straight down especially since just about every vehicle has carpeted floors. Maybe they were hoping people would wear leather chaps or tight latex pants thinking they would be more reflective. Sorry, I won’t go there again. Oh wait what about sequins. Sorry sorry. So has anyone tried sticking a mirror below it and aiming the beam towards the IR eye or just straight up? I know you won’t do this when driving; it would be interesting to see if it makes a difference. Basically seeing how good a “perfect†reflector works or “ideal conditionsâ€
  3. Wow that sucks. But I don't think I would have gone with someone with that seller name. He sounds like a 20 year old who thinks he is a lot cooler then he really is. Hope you get your $ back.
  4. Wow, these jokers are really starting to get annoying.
  5. I am not sure about the details, which I am sure vary place to place, but a certified mechanic has several powers. For example if you don’t pay for the work done they can have a lean put on the vehicle. Check it out. It would not surprise me if they could prevent you from legally driving the car too. I bet this is especially true in places that have required safety inspections in addition to emissions testing. Actually it makes since. If a mechanic let you drive away with anything messed up that later caused a problem, like a stall on a major highway which lead to pile up, the mechanic
  6. Ya, that is why I don't let anyone work on my car, especially if it involves cutting and modifying things. That way if something like that does happen, I have only my self to blame. That and the crack I would have to be one to do that to a car!! Umm, I believe you do pay tax on labor. Maybe it is state dependent.
  7. Cool diagram you got there inferno. (I made it blue because I didn't see the link at first.)
  8. I have seen the question asked and answered several times. The answer always is No Hardware changes. But I am wondering if this is coming from a technical perspective or an end user perspective. In other words, is this answer based on users seeing zero differences in hardware functionality and performance? Or, has some one actually checked specific hardware specs and model numbers of hardware components? I guess this could be done by checking the replacement parts between the two systems. But not necessarily, there may be intercompatibility between the two if there are hardware differe
  9. Bay, The install looks good! How is the sound quality?
  10. WOW, this does not sound like a scam at all. Here have lots of my money. What only cash in a envelope, sure sounds good to me.
  11. Ya, that would be great but it wont last long. If it is beyond the general publics ability to use, it fades off. That nav system would require the user to be able to think which is WAY beyond most people’s ability.
  12. I would recommend asking this on a Lincoln forum because this is closer to a OEM interior parts question. http://www.lincolnforums.com/forums/ind ... owforum=49 What is the units model #? If it is a basically a AVIC with special software for Lincoln there may be some stuff for you. Our Legacy has an OEM navi by Kenwood in it. On the Subaru forums people were adding parts that were made for the aftermarket system and it worked. The OEM system was a standard kenwood aftermarket unit with Subaru specific software on it.
  13. I only see the CD-IB100II and yes the link was broken.
  14. LOL Great now there is going to be a lot of lost fish in that lake.
  15. Did you actually do that! What a great way to kill a bad system! Except for the littering but still funny! I don't know about everyone else but I don't mind people listing and complaining about problems. It is helpful, especially for new buyers. But ranting and flaming is annoying and often gets you ignored by the people who can help. Listing a clear description of the problems and looking for resolution is helpful. Going off about you have been swindled by an inferior system is not. The posts on this page (pg 3) were much better and clearer. This is the way to help us unders
  16. Yes I did, all I meant was you could get a simpler system like the one in my wifes legacy. I think it is a Kenwood but I am not sure of that. Nice navigation and navigation features with no A/V features. I think it is a great set up for her because she is not interested in a A/V system in her car and the navigation in LA and New Mexico is great! I Bus pin-out diagram would be great, do you remember the thread? I have not seen that here but then again I have been away for a few months.
  17. Wow, very interesting. Well maybe I am wrong. Having a standard for "map" data / databases would be very cool. You then could do a cross referencing system for locations and routes and other neat things. Hmm.... Actually whtcrxghst you seem quite knowledgeable about these systems. I was wondering how much know about the AVICs internals. Specifically the IO for it's add on systems (DVD changer, Sat Radio, etc.). If your or others knowledge is as extensive as I hope I can start a new thread for my questions.
  18. Why did you buy a Z1 if you weren't interested in the media features! Basic rule, buy the unit with the features that you want/need. Don't get the printer with a built in fax and copier if you have no interested in a fax and copier. They are just extra features that can have problems and put a halt to your printing. I don't know or understand the code that is in the navigation systems but I would assume that changing to another navigation company is easer said then done. I would guess that the different companies data structures are different, at least enough that changing to a ne
  19. Did you ever find one? I am looking for something like that too. But not just for measuring tire pressure.
  20. Ummm .... I think this is in the wrong section. I would suggest off topic or general. Not Hacks/Mods: Z-Series.
  21. Ouch, wow that sucks... That yellow wire harness, did they mess up or take your air bag too? But I like the way the car looks now. Looks like a step up then your previous setup. But I do not approve of that uninstall.
  22. Umm ... what are you trying to show on the first pic, the one with the truck? The lack of an visible antenna?
  23. LOL There are lots of NAZI's in Japan ... LOL Wow funny stuff. Those icons are kinda cool but I see where they could get annoying at times. And here is another question why do Japanese electronics have English writing on it, like the "P. List" button? But then in other places, like on the maps, they are using the symbols.

    Considering a Z2

I don't know if you have seen this but here is a poll on How satisfied are you with the AVIC-Z2? People also replyed with things they liked and didn't like. It may help answer your question. Keep in mind this was just before the firmware update.
