josh99ta Posted May 27, 2008 Report Share Posted May 27, 2008 AVIC-D3, bypassed, using a Samsung u740 phone through Verizon I'm getting no sound through the speakers. It's powered, grounded, and hooked up via IP bus. Microphone works, callers on the other end can hear me crystal clear, I'm just getting no volume or voices through my speakers at all. Voice guidance navigation works fine, all other sources volume works fine, no problems whatsoever save this one related to my Bluetooth. Thanks for any help on this guys. It is much appreciated. josh99ta Posted May 27, 2008 Author Report Share Posted May 27, 2008 I'm 99.9% sure it's hooked up to the correct plug. One in, one out. It's going from D3, to Bluetooth, to XM. Volume on XM works fine, just not the Bluetooth. Not 100% sure the cable direction is correct from D3 to Bluetooth module, but then again I have no problem with XM which is ran through the BTB Bluetooth module so I'd assume so. josh99ta Posted May 27, 2008 Author Report Share Posted May 27, 2008 OK, messed around with it. Two things... 1. XM has no audio either. I assumed it was working correctly because I could hear dead air but I hadn't activated it yet. It's activated now and nothing. Bluetooth you can hear dead air too, but still no voices through the speakers. 2. Everything is color coded, blue plug end to blue port, black plug end to black port, so everything was hooked up correctly (just to test I switched them and Bluetooth or XM were no longer available to select via the D3's menu, so this verifies they are hooked up correctly). I switched the order, and it is now going from D3 to XM, XM to Bluetooth, and I still have the same problem. So whats next in the line of troubleshooting? No audio for XM or Bluetooth, yet both are working completely fine otherwise (all functions work, mic works, have signal, etc). Thanks for all the help thus far man and for any more. I have perfect audio while playing a DVD through the D3. 2. I have perfect audio while playing AM/FM radio, and also have perfect audio on CDs and through the iPod cable, navigation voice guidance, and I even get key beep volume through the entire phone call process on Bluetooth, just no audio through the speakers. 3. I am only using an external amp on subs. The D3 is powering all speakers inside the car through its internal amp. To me it seems like either a setting issue (but I've went through all of them to no avail) or a mute wire issue, which it isn't even hooked up except for the bypass, and when I get a phone call or make a phone call the music does in fact mute, and people on the other end can hear me crystal clear, but I just can't hear them. HiFiSi Posted May 28, 2008 Report Share Posted May 28, 2008 Perhaps one of the IP-BUS cables is bad???? Try hooking JUST the XM unit or JUST the BT unit up with each cable and see if you still have the problem with each unit by itself using each cable. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

HiFiSi, I'll be trying to hook each up individually tomorrow. It's weird to me though, when the cables are hooked up wrong it very obviously doesn't recognize they're hooked up, so with them hooked up correctly and selectable through the D3, and also considering that when I get a phone call I hear the ringing through my speakers via the Bluetooth. I hear dialing through the speakers. I hear everything through the speakers except the person on the other end of the phone call. And on the XM I get all the beeps coming through, just no music (although I'm still not sure if it's activated correctly as I can't scroll through stations, it just picks up a very few as selectable and of course no volume to verify). luvrbcs Posted May 28, 2008 Report Share Posted May 28, 2008 I lost the sound on my BT the other day. People could hear me but I couldn't hear them. Sounds like the problem you have. Resetting the BT module did not help. I called Crutchfield and they said that how you daisy chain the IP cables can affect the sound. I think they said the BT must be hooked up first. I'm not sure exactly what they meant as I only have the BT and not any of the other devices, i.e, sat radio, so it wasn't a solution for me. But, it is something else you can look into. BTW, resetting the D3 fixed my problem. But, it sure was a PIA. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
