Two_Cold
Under dash pad, with no metal over the antenna. Directly on the unit = bad idea.
GnatGoSplat
Under dash pad, with no metal over the antenna. Directly on the unit = bad idea. Agree on both counts. Hidden under the dash pad is WAY better looking than on top, and it works just as well if there's no metal above it. It's also the OEM location for my vehicle and many others. KevcoN3
I found that it wasn't until after I moved it onto the roof that I finally got excellent reception. It was on my dash but I have a steep windshield so I think the roof hindered some of the signal.

NIK21
On your dash, near the windshield x2 . The shop that installed mine mounted it on the roof and after a while I guess water got in their and damaged it.
cntrylvr79
Personally I prefer the antenna being plugged in fully. GOt to troubleshoot this guys n3 that he installed. Said it wasn't working not getting gps reception. GUy was adamant that it was installed right and everything was hooked up. Ranting about how we sold him a defective n3. Get the car in the shop pull up the conneciton status menu. Right there next to gps it says NOK. Find the brain stuffed under the back seat (05 civic). Antenna plug was SITTING unconnected next to the brain. Guess the owner thought it would send the information by osmosis or something. $75 later nav works like a champ for the chump.
