JJJones
It seems there was an update to the Appradio app today... Anyone know how it works? Seems like you can use Appradio mode with just 1 x lightning cable now, no HDMI needed. It does say to update to the latest firmware but i cant seem to find any new firmware updates. Pjrm68
Interesting. I'll have to try this out and see if Appradio mode is any more stable now.
Pjrm68
Just tried it, and it didn't work at all for me. Tried USB1 and USB2, but the unit wouldn't connect with just the Lightning cable.
JJJones
Same. I'm assuming we need a firmware update. Which doesn't seem to be released yet.
9512tacoma
When I go to the app description in the App Store it does not show the 1 cable connectivity as in the description as above.

Same here. The description doesn't mention anything about it. Could Pioneer have pulled it?
JJJones
Not sure if i got the update first because i'm in Australia, but here's the link: https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/appradio/id434811742?mt=

Darwood
The app update is out in the US now, our models ARE listed. Does that signify an imminent firmware update for the headunits? I sure hope so, there's still lots of bugs to be fixed.
Pjrm68
I have the update, but if you look at the description for it on the iTunes App Store, it doesn't say anything about one-cable connection like in the Australian version referenced above. Unless it's changed--I haven't looked at it since last night.

Unless it's changed--I haven't looked at it since last night. The US versions was edited to remove the reference. Probably a mistake and/or misinterpretation by the writer. Yea I know there's only been one CarPlay firmware release so far. I mean firmware releases in general. Guessing that even if Apple had to approve the CarPlay enabling firmware release schedule, Pioneer should still have a firmware release history in the NEX models that we can form a guess-timate. felmurfud
Anyone have any further input on this? I would definitely prefer to use lightning than use the bulky adaptor... Maybe they will announce at CES?
donmontalvo
I opened a couple support cases with Pioneer, they have been fairly responsive: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/ch.GPS-Navigation.Support Why not open a case and ask them for the low down? DP3343
The lightning only connection is for their new DVD players for 2015. They just released the software update. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Press-Room/Car-Audio-Video/Pioneer+Gives+The+Gift+of+Firmware+for+the+Holidays There is no word on whether or not this feature is coming to other radios.
