bass_rock
Hi all, Does anyone have a picture of the nex box that shows avic sync or a picture of the website saying AVICSync? I have a family friend that does class action and they actually find this case interesting but we need some form of proof that AVICSync was advertised and it seems all mention of it has been removed from the site and new boxes. I still have the box for my AVIC-6000NEX, which shows a manufacture date of February 2014. There is no mention of "AVICSync" anywhere on the box.

IntrusDave
I still have the box for my AVIC-6000NEX, which shows a manufacture date of February 2014. There is no mention of "AVICSync" anywhere on the box. I have the AVIC-8000NEX, manufactured 11/2014. I had never even heard of AVICSync until I saw it in the manual. I didn't buy it for the "AVICSync". Though I always have questioned where the "Networked" fit into the "Networked Entertainment eXperience"
jhanson999
I talked to the pioneer guys at CES, and apparently they'll get rolling on the AVICSync app in a few months once the AVIC-x100NEX series is completed. Personally I am switching manufacturers on my next head-unit purchase as I have lost the faith in Pioneer. Been through 20+ pioneer units in the last 15 years and I think it's time to try someone new.
bass_rock
So in order to have a real case, there needs to be marketing material that is from Pioneer themselves advertising the feature. The manual can work but is not as good as a case because it is something you would have seen after buying the radio and is not something that Pioneer promoted. We need either a screen capture of the site when it was promoting it (which it looks like they have removed all references to it and just mention app radio live) or a NEX box that mentions AVICSync on it. IntrusDave
A class action will not make AVICSync get released any sooner. In fact, if they did lose, then they have no reason to continue work on it. And the fact that it is such a minor part of the system, people in the class action would receive at most a $5 to $10. The lawyers would get rich, and you would be assured no chance of seeing further advancement of the NEX line. Bottom line, it's pretty pointless. They have sent out several emails and letters to people asking about it. App development is a LONG process, and apps that provide a service to another device are even more difficult to produce. It will come when it comes.
tekki
I returned one of my 8000 9 months after having it by complaining to my visa, if you paid with a credit card check with them. In fact it was because connected services wouldn't work as to why they allowed the return. Pioneer did advertise it in they're CES YOUTUBE videos explaining the feature wouldn't work until AVICSYNC. Now that there are other units out I'm really investigating them for the features I want. I have to keep my other unit because I paid cash and I'm in contact with pioneer about returning this one also. I'll see what happens with this one.
