  1. The CD is located here: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8783 (follow method 2) And the 2-wire bypass can be done (to the wiring harness) at any point before or after updating the Z2. It just won't work 'till you update.
  2. Congratulations. The credit is yours. ... do you feel better?
  3. I've seen this in the forums before. I don't recall a fix. Basically it comes down to compatibility. Some phone just work better than others. All the phones I've used (RAZR, KRZR, and Chocolate II) ring through the speakers while making a call.
  4. .wav? No, no files. You can only use AUDIO cd's -- cd's burned in audio mode that play in a normal cd-player.
  5. I've also noticed that, even after the update, I have to keep the caller voice volume on the Z2's volumes screen to 50% or below, or there will be echo.
  6. it sounds like you've got it backwards. The 2-wire bypass is what unlocks the Z2, allowing you to access full control/video while driving. To do the bypass, you may need to update your Z2 with the bypass-enabler-update cd. Also, you can unlock the Hard drive. It'll cost you $45 and the only reason to do it is to upgrade to the Z3 when am image in available. As of now, there's no reason to as it doesn't give you ANYthing.
  7. thanks for the heads up! [link] for the lazy
  8. Though I've never personally experienced this, I've heard that it happens when there's a problem with the disc. Try re-burning it on a different brand CD or just let it loop like that MANY times and it might eventually make it through.
  9. Z1 comes with a mic for sure. Didn't buy a Z2, but according to the manual, it comes with it too.
  10. I HATE that, when searching POI's, if I click one to see where it is, then click back, it dumps me out to the main screen. Pioneer, if you're listening, please fix this! It makes searching for food on trips a VERY unpleasant, long process.
  11. I thought I'd use this as a chance to do a 2-month update: Though I still stand by everything I said, I want to reiterate that it IS "useful for changing volume and tracks, and answering phone calls." The (still) bad: First off, yes - it continues to miss commands no matter where I place it. Why? because a steering wheel remote will never have perfect line of sight - they should have chosen RF (preferably tie it in to the ND-BT1). Some steering wheels may fair better than others, but if it were RF, they wouldn't have this problem. Here's a breakdown of my testing: Day time
  12. There are no known hacks for unlocking the DVD region. As a work around, you might try ripping the DVD to your PC, then reauthoring your own DVD.
  13. 1) Download this and extract its contents to same folder as your ISO. 2) Edit the cdburn.bat file by right-clicking it and hitting Edit. Look for the FILENAME.ISO and change it to the name of your ISO file. Save and close. 3) Run the cdburn.bat batch file by doubleclicking it.
  14. And if you burn the CD with CD-TXT, you don't have to manualy enter titles etc. either... Yup! Also, if you have a truly accurate rip, and re-burn to audio without cd-text, the Z2 will find the title in its CDDB database (assuming it's in there). Although, I've seen this fail. Best to just do CD-text if you've got it.
  15. I think CD and Library have their own A/V settings. I'd go into the AV system Setup for both and look for any differences. EDIT: Obviously whatever settings you have in either SHOULD work, but at least this will help figure out where to start.
  16. sounds like it's time to try a higher level reset. http://www.inferno999.com/public/AVIC/A ... ctions.pdf
  17. The Z2 already comes with the Bluetooth update. The only other update is the Freezing fix [LINK] The maps come preloaded on the HDD. It does not come with map discs, and you will never need them =). Just get a headphone to rca adaptor (3.5mm to Stereo-RCA Male Cable) like this one [LINK]. One end into the iPod's headphone jack, other end into the A/V in on the Z2. Make sure to enable the AV input in the Z2 setup.
  18. They're only about 6 inches long, so you'd have to actually pull the Z2 out a bit to see them. I personally just attached A/V extension cables and routed them down the center console and under the passenger seat. From there it's a snap to connect an all-in-one controller-console, or even an xbox (assuming you can power it).
  19. 1. The turn-by-turn feature is actually turned on and off by the "Enlarged map of the intersection" setting. Go to Menu -> Map -> Close Up View. Set it to 2D or 3D. (see page 41 in the Z2 manual for more info) 2. Some roads (the route displayed and highlighted in purple) have only basic data and can only be used to plot a navigable route. Pioneer Navigation will only display a navigable route on the map (only the arrival guidance for the destination or a waypoint is available). Please review and obey all local traffic rule along the highlighted route. (For your safety.) No turn-
  20. Z2x is just their name for the bundle. Z2 uses the ND-BT1. Either the description's wrong, or they're actually going to ship a cd-btb2000, in which case, don't get it.
  21. Z series does not have a "screen saver" However, you can upload your own backgrounds (A/V, Navi, and splash). For the AV screen specifically, you can choose to hide the controls and just show the background image (and a small "now playing bar"). I think that's the best you're going to get.

  23. I'm guessing you mean the GEX-P10XMT (notice there's no '9'). Make sure you hooked up the data cable that came with it.
  24. Exactly. Decoding divx is difficult and very resource/CPU intense. Frankly, I don't think the Z could handle it, even if it were given the ability in a software update. They'd either need to add a decoder chip (to offload the cycles onto a a chip specifically designed for the task) or up the CPU speed.
