  1. Gotta give him credit for trying to help.
  2. I have been using a 256gb card since February, I tried 64gb, then 128gb and finally a 256gb. I used a macbook pro to format, using disc utility and never had an issue. There are over 200 ripped dvds, 70 are mp4 movies purchased on iTunes, that were converted from m4v with Apples protection. The program removes the protection and converts to mp4.
  3. All the firmware downloads will unzip to "5000" for the 000 series Nex, and "5100" for the 100 series. You cannot use 5000 firmware on a 4000.
  4. Definitely run the usb ports to console, glove box or somewhere you can plug whatever you want into them. As for the reverse switch, just get the 20.00 micro bypass and forget searching for the brake switch, it will wire right into the 4100 harness and it is about the size of a nickel, hot wire, ground and green wire to the 4100 harness. Reverse wire is not need, if you do not plan on installing rear view camera. I strongly advise, running any input wires, for example rca into the a/v input, and or the aux input using a CD-M20(10.00-15.00 on Amazon). You can run these to a place that will be e
  5. The dual zone feature should allow this, but you would have to set rear zone to SDcard, and have the rear audio cables hooked up to the rear entertainment center. While I am using another input, the girls have to wear headphones to hear the audio. edit: I will have to check this out when i get back in town. I do not use carplay, because the call audio using usb was not as good as Bluetooth call audio. This is feedback from the people i talked to often while in the car. Since I have all my music on SSD or SDcard, there is nothing Carplay offers that i need.
  6. Thank you for your time and patience with what you guys are doing. I read your updates daily, even tho alot of it is Greek to me.
  7. That is too funny. Seriously, until the guys working on hacking the firmware, have success, we are stuck with the warning.
  8. I have 77 movies purchased on iTunes, and got a program that removes the protection, now they all play on my NEX. It also converts from m4v to MP4.
  9. The more songs you have, the longer the lag time. This had been normal behavior for mine. I too, have around 20,000+ songs. I also have 256gb sdcatd with 200+ movies, and the lag time is very short. I tried another ssd with only 5000 songs, lag time was much shorter.
  10. sorry, all the above info is if you are using iPhone. If you are using android, you need mhl, adapter for hdmi, or if your phone has hdmi, you will hook up directly to hdmi. and smartphone will be set to other, in smartphone settings on head unit. Where in Texas are you?
  11. You will need the apple a/v digital adapter for app radio. App radio uses bluetooth to communicate with phone, and hdmi for audio and video. Note: when using AppRadio, you have to set your smartphone setting to digital adapter. With this setup, the a/v adapter plugs into your phone lightning plug, then hdmi from head unit will plug into adapter, your usb to lightning cable will plug into the adapter also and the usb can be plugged into car charger or usb1(usb1 will not be available for use this way, it will only charge the phone, if you try to use usb1 as an input with this setup it will say
  12. Your rear view camera will supersede any and all inputs, if reverse wire is getting power.
  13. For this to happen, the reverse wire on your head unit has to be getting a signal. Do you have a rear view camera hooked up? If not make sure the reverse wire is either not connected to anything or that it is hooked up to reverse signal, for example, the reverse light wire. The nex is designed to show rear view camera, immediately(if in reverse) even if not fully booted. So for some reason, likely miswired, the head unit thinks you are in reverse. Double check your connections.
  14. After researching, I found that on the 8100, you can hook up a camera to a/v input, then the option of renaming the a/v input to camera, thus having camera view as an input, and can rearrange "camera input" icon. On the x000 units, this option is not in manual. That is where the difference is. Now, it is possible(on the x000 models) to put a RCA splitter on the reverse camera RCA and run 1 to reverse input and 1 to either a/v input or aux input and have camera view available as input. The reverse camera would have to be powered on by ignition switched power, and reverse signal sent to reverse
  15. Have you tried pushing the reset button, pin hole on the right hand side, or disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. I haven't had this happen, but this is what i would try. Good Luck, hopefully it is not bricked.
  16. I have over 200 ripped DVDs on my sdcard, so I can play them on the headrest monitors using dual zone for my 2 girls, age 3 and 5.
  17. CPM1083 is part number 25.00 http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/part.asp?productNum=CPM1083
  18. Here is what I did. I run Mac also, and have done this with 64gb and 256gb sdcard. I used disc utility to delete all files including hidden files. Then formatted with same utility to format to fat32. And both work perfectly. I did not format to NTFS, because the head unit categorizes better with fat32. I used Samsung pro 64gb sdcard, and Pny 256gb. I have been using for 6 months now and no problems. I have read, copy all your music, pictures or video once and leave it alone. If you delete and copy numerous times, you stand a chance of file corruption. FYI, sdcards up to 32gb use fat32, l
  19. It would have to be hooked up before the flasher, to left and right. This hookup might be a stretch,
  20. I would probably have purchased the gm part, had I known about it. I like the cover.
  21. No, that is just for optional install. I pulled cig lighter and moved lighter plug into glove compartment for additional power. Installed the round USB, where cig lighter was. Looks oem. Ran that to USB1 for iPhone6. iPhone dash mount is real close and use the short USB to lightning cable to phone(no wires hanging).
