As for the street names, I don't know the answer. Mine shows plenty of names and I don't remember the name of the setting to change that. The map has "smart zoom" or whatever they call it that will automatically zoom the map in and out when it decides to. As you found out, if you manually zoom then it quits tracking your location. There is no way to turn this feature off.
  2. It is typical for LCD screens to be "sluggish" when they are cold but I'm not sure I have ever heard of a touchscreen being unresponsive to touch when cold.
  3. Unfortunately this is not a bug it is a feature of the nav. If you look in the user's manual it talks about auto zoom and there is no way to turn it off.
  4. Show me proof that the iPhone can use an external GPS antenna. There are external GPS receivers but in my searches I cannot find any evidence that the iPhone can use an external antenna (not receiver). Plus there are no pins on the lightning connector to pass the signal from a GPS antenna.
  5. If it is a CarPlay only display then I don't see what an external GPS antenna would get you. The iPhone only uses its internal GPS antenna and does not take advantage of an external antenna.
  6. Not sure how they could bring that to the current NEX line if it has to be WiFi as the NEX radios don't have WiFi. If it could be used over Bluetooth, which I doubt, then the current NEX radios could possibly be updated to work. My feeling is that Pioneer will not put any more effort into the current NEX radios and will only put development effort into the next generation of NEX radios.
  7. That is because the units will show the backup camera while the system is booting up. When it is done booting up it does some sort of switching of the video signal so they can show you the text that I never pay attention to. I see mine flash sometimes but I don't remember it taking 2 seconds. I will have to pay attention better next time I am backing up.
  8. I have an F150 with factory backup camera and the map button works fine for me. But my camera is powered up all the time. When I tapped into the video feed I could see the camera all the time even when the truck in not in reverse. Some factory cameras remove power when not in reverse so maybe that is what is happening to you.
  9. The bypass continues to work for me after the update.
  10. The BT version was exactly the same before the 1.06 update. I checked all the versions and wrote them down before I did the update and BT stayed the same.
  11. I didn't have any problem panning around in maps. Pinch to zoom didn't work but I could drag the map to move around.

    CarPlay Help!

Do you have at least ios 7.1 on your phone?
  13. Does the bypass still work after the update?
  14. I don't remember how I hooked up my parking brake wire but I did the bypass on my 8000 and have never gotten the message.

    AVIC 6000 NEX

Don't know what interface you are using to get the steering wheel controls into the NEX but (if I am remembering correctly) with the Maestro you can set the steering wheel control to mute or attenuate. You would have to reflash your interface box to change from attenuate to mute.
  16. Someone was trying to reverse engineer the software to get rid of the message but I don't think he ever got it working right. As far as I know there is no way to get rid of it like the parking brake bypass.
  17. Yea, I'm pretty happy with it too. But the more I use the navigation the more quirks I find.
  18. I know it has been a couple of months since I said I would check but I forgot Mine is a pause button instead of a mute. duaneellison did you ever hear back from Pioneer?
  19. No problem. I doubt Pioneer is going to do anything about the map zoom as they use iGo for the navy software and every unit I have seen that has iGo has the same zoom "functionality"
  20. I completely agree, you should be able to set the zoom to whatever level you want. I have had that in other built-in gps units I have had in other cars. The manual talks about auto and manual zoom, and explains better what I was saying in my post above, but I don't have the page number handy at the moment.
  21. That is the way it works. It you bring up the manual zoom then it "locks" the map position. You have to click the icon (I think it is on the lower left) to get back into automatic zoom with your current position in the middle of the map.
  22. I have not had that problem. Do you have all the power wires connected correctly?

    Eula screen

I have not had it where I couldn't click the button but it does take 20 seconds or so to go past the screen if I shut the unit off with the nag screen showing.
  24. What is shown on your screen? I'm pretty sure I get that icon. I will check later when I'm in my truck.
  25. I'm sure that dot is dts that has been autocorrected. Not sure about com (maybe pcm)
