  1. Yes they did. The website (as of right now) says Summer 2014.
  2. I haven't made any voice calls through it, but when I have had issues with Siri. The first time, Siri could hear me and was responding, but the audio didn't come through the AVIC. Subsequent attempts worked fine, but when Siri was done the music didn't start back up. I also noticed that the "talk" icon that shows up on the AVIC when going into Siri now turns blue when she's listening/speaking. Moved from iPhone 5 to iPhone 6 today, connected via USB1 and BlueTooth to 6000NEX. This is the same setup I've used before without really any problems.
  3. eBay has a buyer's guarantee. They have a specific process you have to follow, so look through their help pages for information.
  4. Pioneer is still saying "Summer". Anything you see like the CNET article regarding a timeline is pretty much conjecture. This one in particular reads to me like the author or editor playing it safe. "well, we don't really have any idea when it will come out, so let's just say by the end of the year."
  5. Except it's been released to Ferrari.
  6. I don't understand how it seems reasonable that Apple would wait until the release of iOS 8. CarPlay is designed to work with iOS 7.1.whatever, which is already out. Can you expand on why you feel it is reasonable that they would wait? I fully agree with your comment regarding Ferrari, I'm just curious to know your thinking on the iOS 8 piece.
  7. My iPod Classic worked fine on my 6000NEX. My usual setup is: iPhone 5 connected via USB1 and Bluetooth. I have not previously connected either of my iPods (Classic and a square Nano). I turned off my iPhone before turning on the car. Once the radio came up to the iPod (no device connected) screen, I plugged in the iPod Classic and it started playing right where it had last left off. I was not able to control the iPod from the clickwheel; only from the NEX. I turned the car off. After powering up the iPhone, I restarted the car. The NEX began playing the iPod Classic automatically whi
  8. I'll hook mine up on the way home from work and see what happens.
  9. Anytime an operating system update is released, many software developers will say it is not supported by their software. This does not necessarily mean it won't work. It just means the developer hasn't completed sufficient testing for them to be satisfied that their software will play nice with the new OS. It means if you upgrade to iOS 8 and have a problem, Pioneer might not be able to help you until they've had time to evaluate the two together. Yes, Apple releases beta versions of their software to developers. Yes, Pioneer is one of those developers (we know this because they have
  10. Make sure your USB stick is NOT formatted for Mac OS.
  11. I loaded up an SD card and honestly prefer just to use the iPhone. I use iTunes Match, so I have my entire library available to me instantly. I don't really ever go outside good 4G LTE coverage, so accessing it isn't a problem. Even if I do, all my favorite artists are saved on the phone so I can listen to those.
  12. For mine I went into my iTunes library folder using Finder and dragged over the albums I wanted. The album art all went with it. HOWEVER, the tracks don't play in album order. Instead, I think they play alphabetically. If you've asked iTunes to manage your library by including the track number in the file name, they may play correctly.
  13. My home address isn't in the maps... and my apartment complex is nearly 20 years old!
  14. I think the ability to update maps requires a smartphone app that hasn't been released yet.
  15. I had the same problem with it having me going in the wrong direction. When I installed my unit I didn't hook up the reverse wire. Once I went in and fixed that, it has worked fine since. Also, I do NOT have the VSS wire hooked up.
  16. Sounds to me like your iPod battery may be shot. An iPod will generally do that when it powers completely down (i.e. from a dead battery). If it's restarting at the first song on the ipod, I would say the battery isn't holding a charge and when it loses power from the headunit it cuts off completely. Is the iPod able to run ok when it's not plugged in to the stereo? This does not, however, explain why it restarts from the beginning when switching sources. That piece stumps me a bit.
  17. I have the same unit, and I see the green highway signs from time to time. Looking in my settings, I wonder if the "Signposts" setting is what triggers it. Mine shows ON.
  18. Looking at my iTunes, the "Tagged" playlist is listed under Store, not under Playlists. Mine actually has some songs in it, so I guess it was actually working back in 2009!
  19. I've never gotten this to work successfully on any head unit I've had, so I gave up long ago. This is my first Pioneer unit, however; all the previous ones were Kenwood.
  20. I don't read the article as blaming Pioneer for the delay. It says they stated it would be "weeks not months" then didn't deliver, but it doesn't state or even imply any reason for this miss.
  21. The interface wasn't ever that bad, but they were just buggy as hell. They would completely lock up, or continuously reload the screen. Sometimes the buttons would end up mis-mapped and I'd have to reset them.
  22. Any two (or more) devices connected such that they can share data constitute a network. The NEX units connect to your smartphone via either Bluetooth or a wired connection, thus forming a network.
  23. As someone who had nothing but Kenwood for the past 14 years, I'll say be glad you didn't go with Kenwood. I generally switch out my head unit about every two years and the past 3 have been utter shit.
  24. the x000NEX unites do not have a WiFi radio, so they cannot connect via WiFi.
  25. It sure does. Also, Apple is notoriously secret with product information. As someone who works for one of Apple's closest partners, and who is authorized to know all the stuff that my company knows, I can assure you the car vendor reps have no idea when anything Apple is going to happen. If they say it's going to come out with iOS8 launch in September, they are likely making assumptions. It is certainly possible that CarPlay will come out with iOS8, but I sure wouldn't trust the word of "some car vendor reps".
