  1. That's an expensive horse we missed.... I'll stick with the one that I have. When Alpine comes out with their aftermarket unit, I'll take notice after I review it.
  2. The article is also wrong. Check out the link from the article and you will see that 2014 is right up on the top graphic. It was just moved, not removed. BGR is often wrong.
  3. i have the 6 as well. But I think the 6+ stories are a bit overblown. The Internet does that. One story turns into 100 blogs that turns into millions of hits. Apple responded today saying that they know of only 9 cases of bent iPhone 6+ phones, and under normal use, they should be fine. They said they performed stress tests and have reinforcements along the sides of the phone. Another case of things exploding on the net way past the reality of the situation. Go back and look at the blogs and you will notice the same three pictures In each one of them.
  4. I am as disapointed as anyone. My beef is with the lack of accuracy in the blogs. The rush to be first with a story is everything. And once posted, the blog is repeated exponentially, accurate or not. The recent Blog that Apple is dropping Beats Music is another example. Apple is going to rebrand the thing, not kill it. If bloggers want to be considered journalists, they need to have a bit more integrity.
  5. It might be good of you to actually check out the Apple CarPlay site before quoting an inaccurate article. 2014 is still referenced at the top of the page.
  6. Yep.. That solved my phone issue.
  7. I ended up just doing a full erase and reset and re-entered my settings and re-downloaded my apps. In some ways, a clean install is best anyway. I can just bring in the apps that I want and start fresh. I was also using various beta versions of iOS 8 on my 5 and that was the last iCloud backup that I did.
  8. I have been in the "lets wait and see" camp for some time now. With summer now gone, and no word at all from Pioneer, I am now thinking that I bought a very expensive radio under the assumption of a feature set listed on their web site, and I was lied to. I can accept a delay for good reason, or even a bad reason if the company would just tell us why the promised features were late. But to have the time come and go (twice now) without claification is the poster child on how to run your customers away. I do like the 8000NEX very much for what it does. But I bought it for the promised f
  9. That's is exactly what I had to do, and it worked for me. A pain, but it works.
  10. My iPhone 6 issues seemed to be related to my iCloud restore. Everything worked except the Bluetooth phone calls. No audio, or visual display on the NEX that a call was going through. After an erase and reset of the phone without the iCloud restore, I tested it out and it worked just fine.
  11. Did you do an iCloud restore or go ahead with a blank phone and add your apps?
  12. BTW, I did do the usual stuff. Removed the older phone from bluetooth connection and did a Bluetooth clear.
  13. With my iPhone 6, I cannot hear calls through the NEX. Pairing is fine. It's like the phone connection is not going through the NEX anymore. The small "in call" screen does not even pop up on the NEX. On the iPhone, is shows that the sound should be coming from the AVIX8000NEX, but all I get is silence. I have to click on the iPhone option on the phone to start communicating. Everything else seems fine. Texting with Siri through the NEX, phonebook download... Not sure if its iPhone 6 related or iOS 8. But, I was running iOS 8 GM with my iPhone 5 with no issues until I switched ph
  14. I am having issues making a bluetooth phone call with my new iPhone 6. All else seems to work, but no audio through the NEX when making a call. Don't even get the "in call" screen. Texts work, address book populates, pairing is ok. I used the beta and GM release of iOS 8 with my old uPhone 5, so I am believing that there is some differnace between the older iPhones and the new 6's. Unless I am having a brain freeze and missing the obvious. Can you make a call with the 6 plus through the NEX?
  15. Has anyone noticed any issues with the new iPhone 6 and the 8000NEX? I replaced my 5 with the 6 today, and when dialing a call, the phone says it's connected to the ACIV but there is no phone audio during the call.. Normally, when a call is made, whatever I am listenng to mutes and I can hear the rings. With the 6, the current music or radio continues, no rings heard through the NEX, but the phone is dialing. Once connected, I have to change the source from AVIC to phone, and use the phone directly.
  16. I have a 8000NEX with a bypass wired in. The only suggestion I have is to use a relay in the bypass wiring. I do not get any warning message.
  17. One thing to keep in mind is that carplay has to connect to the head units. Each HU is differant and will require work on the manufacturers part to make the intragration functional and smooth. Just because CarPlay is working with one HU, does not mean it is ready to go with any others. CarPlay is not just an app. It is a middleware between the phone and the HU. Pioneer has to get it right, and Apple has to approve it. My guess is that Pioneer is late in getting it right.
  18. It's not about specs, but about design. How well the components fit togther for the need is what really matters. The higher the amount of RAM, the bigger the hit in CPU usage and battery drain. Is is more important to multitask on a phone, or to give great performance and battery life? Do you design a phone architecture based on the 5% who use their phone like a miniature laptop, or for those who use the phone as an extention of their current digital space?
  19. The next iPhone will have 128gb and they are already have a quad core. With the new sizes is becomes more a matter of ecosystem and who you want to do business with. Those already invested in iOS would be hard pressed to move to android, unless it offered a feature that was killer. For me, as an iPhone user, android does not appeal to me because of the investment I have in other iOS products. But, if I were to go for an android phone, I would most likely go with an Nexus (pure android without a crappy shell). I would never do business with Samsung, simply because I do not like the way they
  20. I may be crazy, but am I the only one who thinks that the delay may have something to do with the Beats purchase? That would be a great app to ship with CarPlay, if done right. So, perhaps the delay is to get a Beats CalPlay app ready before launch.
  21. I have the Maestro RR hooked up to my 8000 NEX on my 2010 Ford Edge and all of the steering wheel controls work fine. Also the sync voice button on the steering wheel works to bring up Siri and control my iPhone via the 8000 NEX mic. This is all done through the analog 1/8" mini plug from the Maestro to the remote input on the back of the 8000. After the upcoming Maestro update, the digital cable can be hooked up from the Maestro to the 4 pin Maestro input on the back of the 8000. This will give enhanced capabilities such as using the built in USB, mic and Sync (for the Ford at least).
  22. I could see using a mic mute bottom in the car. Let's saying you have a couple of people in the car, and a phone conversation with someone else. At one point during the call, the two people in the car might want to have a private onversations that they do not want the other party to hear. Perhaps a brief chat to agree on a point made during the call. This is pretty common stuff, and is available on the phone and should be available from the HU phone screen as well.
  23. I guess I have a more pluralistic definition of a network. To me, one phone connected via Bluetooth or cable to one HU is not really a network. If it is, then it's a very limited one. For someone who has been working in technology since the early 80's, maybe I am out of touch with current definitions.
