1. Either connect the brake lead to the parking brake, or leave it disconnected. Do not leave the wire grounded if you are trying to bypass the video lockout.
2. What unit? Did you reset the system?
3. The VSS wire can be found at pin 22 of the 28-pin connector on the ECM, which is located below the glovebox. The wire is purple with a yellow stripe. If you can find the same wire behind the speedo, you can use it.
4. Has anyone done an install of an aftermarket head in a Land Rover LR3? I'm trying to find a dash kit for one.....all wiring is finished, just no mount yet...
5. Yah, just daisy-chain them together....de-de-dew!
6. Not yet, at least. Keep an eye on this forum, I'm sure there will be a big sexy party when someone finally breaks into the drive. Confetti, champagne, fireworks
7. Here's a bit more info on that unit. http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/4/177090.html
8. If you solder the two dots together on the bottom of the unit, you will get full function of the nav & video while driving. I don't think you have to ground the parking brake lead, I believe the solder spot overrides that, if I remember correctly. You may have to reset the unit afterwards to get rid of the handbrake warning.
9. OK, I got it all figgered out. The system uses a VW harness. VSS is one of two yellow wires behind the speedo. The other yellow wire is for the tach (good for remote start). The amp does not have a turn on lead, instead turning on when it see signal on the speaker leads, like the old school power boosters......
10. Of all the tuners I have installed, (been an installer for 19 yrs.), the p5700tv is definitely one of the best. With most of the inexpensive tuners, when you are driving, the picture quality is going to change every foot or so that you drive. Imagine trying to watch football on a TV with rabbit-ear antennas duct-taped to your 5-year-old nephew after a double espresso and a king-size KitKat. It's much better with the Pioneer unit.
11. The Gracenote database recognises the cd by looking at the number of tracks, track length, album length, etc. and compares that info against known info in its database, and then labels the cd based on that info. If you record your own cd,sometimes the times are off, especially on a mix cd, so, it cannot find a match, so, no info.
12. If you do not subscribe to XM NavTraffic, you will not get sports, stocks, traffic, etc.. You can't access those with standard XM.
13. Give the unit a day or two to reorient itself, it should straighten itself out. This happens sometimes if you move the car after unplugging the nav, then plug the unit back in with the car moved somewhere else, even if it is only a few feet.
14. Anyone out there have the wiring for a 2002 Hummer H1 with the Monsoon system? Audio, VSS, etc? I am not looking forward to this, I have to move the A/C controls, some guages, build a bezel out of carbon fiber because the trim is carbon inside, extend harnesses, - I am gonna need a few beers tonight!!!!!
15. You can detect the pulses on either setting, because the wire pulses to ground. So, if you are using a DC meter, connect one lead to +12V, use the other lead to hunt for your VSS.
16. If you mount the antenna towards the rear, coming out of the hatch, you should get great reception. The nav works off of satellites, so terrain isn't a factor, unless you live in a ravine or underground. If you can see the sky, the nav will work.
17. There will be two or more green/white wires in the speedo harness. One is the VSS, and you can use this. Use a multimeter to test for the wire that pulses while the truck is moving. Have a buddy help you so you don't crash into a bus full of nuns. The wire will pulse even if the cluster is removed, so you dont get it caught in the steering wheel, and, again, the nuns.
18. Remember, if you are using a GEX-P10XMT but you are only subscribing to standard XM, not the NavTraffic package, do NOT hook up the data cable (the smaller multi-conductor cable), or else you will end up with an 'XM updating' message.

I sell the s**t out of the Pioneer ND-BC1. It's pricey at $250 or so, but it's nearly bulletproof, high resolution, has excellent low light visibility, and isn't too hideous. But, like I said, pricey.
20. Make sure your disc isn't scratched or covered with boogers.
21. Nice save, cntrylvr! I'm impressed you remembered the wire switch....
22. I just finished the same truck today. I used a Best Kits BKFMK542. Looked great. Just cut the strip out of the middle. 23. I don't know whether you actually need the av bus connected, but I left mine in, but added an rca from the xdv-p6 to the front video on the tv tuner
