  1. OK, so I didn't lose my POIs, that was my biggest concern. Settings are easy to re-setup. Following the instructions I disconnected USB1 and USB2, then inserted the USB2 (FAT32) thumb drive into USB1. Update went smoothly, got to 1.10 within 10 minutes. I let Pioneer know that the "AVIC-7000NEX_UC_FW-Update_v1.10_20150605.zip" updater I downloaded expands to "AVIC5000NEX"...who's watching the kids over there? Don
  2. 3. Saving my pennies for the Parrot RBN6. 4. I have a 2014 Honda CR-V and a Pioneer AVIC-5000NEX and am using a PAC RP4-HD11 to integrate SWC/Bluetooth buttons. PAC has awesome phone/email support, very responsive, every issue resolved! I tried the Maestro SW then the RR, and finally gave up after being strung along for months by their support who denied the i-Mid clock problem (now they've acknowledged it, but I've moved on). I bought the 5000 to save money, but in hindsight I wish I had bought the 8000...but maybe it was a good thing, now that the 8100 is out...nah, I'll wait for the Parrot RNB6 to hit the shelves. http://b
  5. I guess the joke is in those of us who jumped on the first AVIC NEX models: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/ephox/StaticFiles/PUSA/Car_Electronics/Firmware%20Update%20Files/NEX%20Map%20Update_Naviextras/Map%20Update%20Notification_FINAL.pdf
  6. Wow, obsolete by the time it hit the shelves. Good thing I don't need/want Wireless CarPlay, or I would post my AVIC-5000NEX on Craigslist.
  7. Haha I was WONDERING when someone would mention that. :)
  8. Yea, sounds like they had to ship it so that may have dropped for now. I'm not really interested in wireless CarPlay. My phone is always plugged in when I'm in the car. It's a habit I'm happy to have. Throughout the day, never plugged in, never lose power. In the car, plugged in, charging, ready for the evening. The alert muting on my AVIC-5000NEX got whacked, resetting alert level doesn't seem to work, as the volume for, say, radio/iTunes, stays at the same level. Doesn't seem to be related to the iOS 8.3 update. Also, when I drove home tonight I turned off my headlights. So the head
  9. I'm guessing you mean pre Touch ID.
  10. Me too, just like I prefer Ethernet over Wi-Fi, latency is a bucket full of pain.
  11. Nice not to have the warning... https://jamfnation.jamfsoftware.com/discussion.html?id=12589#responseChild84479 Prior to iOS 8.3, if you don't unlock the iPhone, you won't get to CarPlay.
  12. Quick rundown, not sure why wireless CarPlay isn't mentioned: JAMF Nation | iOS 8.3 released https://jamfnation.jamfsoftware.com/discussion.html?id=14010
  13. Any improvements to the Maps app in CarPlay? Does it now show current/max speed?
  14. I wasn't trying to be a Pioneer fan boy. I'm not happy with how they're "fixing" issues only on new(er) models. Just saying the Apple iTunes Store process isn't the easiest, even updates have to go through a vetting process.
  15. I'm not an iOS developer but we have hundreds of developers who submit apps to Apple. It's not an easy process, very tough to get something through. But yea, maybe Pioneer doesn't have a competent/capable person who can design/submit an iOS app that can reliably pass Apple's stringent vetting process.
  16. I had problems with Apple cables and some of the cheaper/flimsier third party cables. I bought a Griffin coiled Lightning/USB cable and the problem went away. I have a Honda CR-V and it has a USB female going into the center console. The trick I found is to secure the cable using a rubber band, else connection gets iffy. Obviously this won't help if it isn't a cable problem, YMMV.
  17. I meant current/max driving speed
  18. I heard from the grapevine this is a Bluetooth function, and CarPlay head units could potentially get a firmware update to enable. I couldnt get any more info, neither from the Apple contacts I know who have access to CarPlay API nor from Pioneer where I have no contacts. I'm hoping iOS 8.3 offers more feature updates to CarPlay. I honestly don't care about the wirrless feature. I'm more interested in current/max speeds and other useful features.
  19. Same on my 2014 Honda CR-V. The first shop didn't think it was possible. The second shop did it ricketysplit.
  20. Wow. Just. Wow. I hope its over Wi-Fi. [Edit: looking at the linked article, it does seem to be a Wi-Fi feature]
  21. Yea, I tried that and it seems to sometimes hose my settings. Note to self, get that bugger screwed in.
  22. Nice unit, but not sure I would pay $2,200 US for a unit that doesn't support Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Not sure AVICsync is supported yet, not yet on NEX models. I hope it works for you.
  23. Just curious, what year/make/model car?
  24. Sorry for the late response, just catching up to this thread. From what I've read, its not a module limitation, but its a Pioneer limitation. And that Pioneer doesn't plan to enable these functions on the AVIC NEX models.
