  1. Thanks. I didn't you had to set a route first. Then the demo button is available. I might use this for demo of my car at future meets!
  2. I searched but I couldn't find it. How do you activate DEMO mode on the Z1/Z2? The icon is greyed out in the menu. Thanks.
  3. Theres also night view a) Also 2D Twin Map view
  4. I agree, the OEM navs on the Acuras are nice. Now, I can point out the HDD is nice. I do not worry about carrying CD's in the car anymore which saves space. Navigating through the songs in your HDD is so easy too. Like "Microsoft Sync" , you can pull up songs or artists by Voice command which I probably use everytime I get in the car. For the navigation, I think you should check it out in person if at all possible to see how you like it.
  5. ^^ Besides checking for the obvious, its internal (I don't know what it is specifically) but you have to send it in for repairs.
  6. I like how the voice command prompts you after initial point, But I think the first voice command you hear is pointless. Things like "please say city name" or "please say street name" is fine but I think they can take out the first one you hear when you press the voice command button "Please say voice command" Seems less intuitive to me.
  7. I'm thinking the Pioneer Lawyers said no-no to the adding animated backgrounds because they can serve as a potential distraction while driving. Being a Z1/Z2 owner, I would also like to see volume of the guidance voice be adjusted to according to the vehicles speed. Its really a simple firmware update, so hopefully pioneer has a crack research team (or a research team on crack) fixing this and other issues.
  8. I think I would really give the Bluetooth 3.9 out of 5 score. Which is not bad. You know when you call someone and you can just tell they are on Bluetooth? You can hear them but it sounds different. Thats what my callers are saying so, its fine. I've tried the unit in Bellevue, Renton, and Issaquah, and it works great. I haven't been to Redmond in a while. (Although my friends work at MICROSOFT). For buying the unit, amazon.com is a good place to buy. But for finding a place to install, you should be very picky. FYI, I-405 as you probably found out has alot of traf
  9. Welcome to Seattle! I've lived in Seattle for a while now, and the Navigation with the Z2 works great. If you hit the downtown Seattle/ University of Washington campus area, the mapping is detailed style city mapping so its nice. Bluetooth is good but not great= the reason why I gave it a standard score is because the person on the other line says they cannot hear me as well as they should. Sounds audible but distant. I bought the Z1/Z2 because of the Harddrive. After seeing the DVD based Navi's and seeing how long route calculations take, I love the fast response from the Z2 hard
  10. Is it the mapping (Teleatlas) or just Pioneer hardware/software thats lacking? Cause I wonder if they switched to NavTeq?
  11. I think it has to be lined up first, also the pin side facing downward I believe.
  12. Can you post some scanned images of the book? I'm assuming Z2 owners have to buy the upgrade DVD again to upgrade to Z3.
  13. One thing about voice command I would like to remove is the prompt. Other navis just have a beep to indicate voice command, but I don't like the "Please say your voice command"
  14. Alot of my gripes I think IMO can be fixed with a simple firmware update too.
  15. Yeah, 6) Street names showing for upcoming intersections is a BIG One! also, how about Search by [intersection]? That would be nice
  16. I'm sure everyone has some gripes about their Z2. Here are some things that I would like to see on the Z3. BTW, its not too far fetched requests either IMO. 1) Speed sensitive volume controls= simple firmware update 2) Separate Dimmer memory for when headlights are running during daytime=I use my foglights during the day, and the Z2 gets too dim when I turn my headlights on during the day for this. 3) Scrolling music titles= simple firmware update I'm sure 4) 3D Buildings in city maps= something teleatlas has to do? 5) Full screen 3D map instead of twin ma
  17. We should compile a list of features that should be included in the Z3 like speed sensitive volume.

    Her Voice

I wish it was more intuitive, and had more "on the fly" voice commands. Hate it when it always asks " Press the voice command....."

    AVIC Z3?

I hope the Z3 is not just a map update
  20. I think the Z2's interface is falling behind some of the competitors. Is it possible to get a fresh interface (more colorful and 3d like) from a simple DVD upgrade disc?
  21. I wonder what upgrade they are going to do for Z owners. Our interface is a bit outdated. I like the colorful and 3d interface on the AVIC F500BT. For the Z3, can a simple upgrade disc change our interface or is that too complex to do off of a simple DVD for Z1/Z2 owners?
  22. Is it hard? I thought you can get double din bezel kits from Bimmerman. Either the m3forum.com or Bimmerfest.com I've seen several 3 series and M3's with the Avic Z1/Z2
