  1. For clarification, I would like to ask you for what reason are you looking to upgrade from your D3? Anything in particular you are looking for ? Features, screen size etc.
  2. Yeah, I can't think of any solution besides deleting the profile, BTW, how did you do that? The Z3 keeps a history of phones that you paired and you can't remove it. I'm thinking of going the jawbone 2 route too. As much as I love the bluetooth in the Z3 in stand still or low speed driving, the caller complains of too much road noise when I drive on freeways. There is no echo, but it just picks up too much road noise because the bluetooth in the z3 uses archaic and old BT technology.
  3. -I used Power2go which is a OEM software that came with my new notebook -Selected to create a DATA CD -Unzipped all the files, then place each file in the ROOT of the CD, meaning didn't create any folders -Used standard burning speed -And made sure the session is closed. -After the CD is Inserted, Make sure to hit the MAP button. Then the update should begin in about 20-30 seconds BTW, I have a Z3. Which was updated from a Z1 via Pioneer's Upgrade DVD CNDV-800HD
  4. You only need to connect the reverse signal wire if you want to install a Backup Camera. As for the parking brake signal wire, you need to ground it and follow the rest of the Avic Z series bypass instructions.
  5. These are all great fixes: Faster IPOD Interface, etc. I would love to provide some feedback to pioneer, is there an effective way to do that besides calling the Pioneer and talking to a rep?
  6. Yup, Its debuting only in the new 2009 Acura RL and the 2009 Acura TSX as part of their Technology Package upgrade on their Navigation System.
  7. I'm curious, got any pics of the embossing?
  8. What happens when you power it up outside the car's dash? Like on a work bench with an external power source? My initial thought was maybe the dash was at an awkward angle and the gyros tipped off the sensors and powering it up on a flat bench would fix that. IDK. Its interesting that it says NOK for almost all connections. Thinking its a faulty unit.
  9. Why not just create a DVD Slideshow with your selected pics plus the desired music in the background the dvd slideshow? You can just pop that DVD in and play it anytime. IMO
  10. They only work for the AVIC-D3 and AVH-P4900DVD units only.
  11. To change your home or favorite location, 1) Go Settings from the main menu 2) Then to Defined Locations 3) You can re-register your home or your favorite location Enjoy!
  12. Did you turn "AV External Output" to ON ? Its should be in your AV Settings menu from the music screen's second page.
  13. I purposely powered my rearview camera to my reverse lights. I heard of some cameras life span drastically reduce due the fact that they were always powered on while driving. I invested some $$ in a nice backup camera and I didn't want to have it die prematurely.
  14. Try the reset. But like said, the ILL wire probably came loose behind your unit. Its a tons of wires back there and you never know.
  15. You didn't happen to catch the newest south park, did you? Cartman eats his underwear to avoid fighting Wendy after school . Good episode!
  16. Did the update without a problem.
  17. The latest gracenote database update for the Z-series is for March 2008. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... ase+Update
  18. Thanks for your reply, feel free to vote as well on which feature you might find helpful.
  19. With the lifespan of the Z-series coming towards its 4th version, I was curious what options you think is needed that we haven't seen yet from the update DVD's. Given that we are restricted to updates that can be done via firmware only, I have some things I would like to see. Whats yours?
  20. Sounds like it was a good learning experience, as not all installers are created equal. Just because they are apparently an authorized dealer for Pioneer does not equate to them being excellent installers with adequate knowledge and experience. Here are the bypass instructions for the D3. http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4670 When you go back, tell him the bypass is not working, if he refuses to fix it, get your money back and go to a better installer and show him the instructions on the bypass. Good Luck
  21. This feature works great for me. I have multiple ways I can take but I usually take a particular road. So whenever I input an address for navi guidance that goes through that area, it chooses that route in particular. You should check to see if that option is turned ON in your settings menu.

    Z3 or f90bt?

See, its those little user interface things that really make or break a deal. So in terms of the OP's question, my vote goes for the Z3 due to screen size, faster boot up time, and well rounded features.
  23. BTW, this is posted in the wrong section of the forum.

    Z3 or f90bt?

Really, thats not good. I can't tell you how often I use the 2D map mode with Direction up because it provides a great overview of the map. One thing I hope they add in the next Z4 update is Full screen 3D map mode.
  25. Voice recognition for Track title only works within the Album or Artist folder you are currently in. For example, if you search for "Song Title A" in an album or artist folder that does not have that song in it, you cannot pull that song up. What you can do is put that song in your My Favorite Mix folder, and then from there you can just use the voice recognition to up that song up. I find it that I use the voice recognition for a particular artist, I love it cause my friends get a kick out of it since there OEM Navi's can't do that. Thats one differentiation between the Z s
