  1. I'd bet money he damaged it by the sound of your process...good luck, but I reckon you'll have to pay. Um, he'll have to pay

Totally dude because a bunch of people that have lives and don't get paid to serve you should be waiting for you always. LOL!
  3. I'm running beta of iOS 11.3 on iPhone 7. CarPlay with the 8200NEX is totally hosed. It's beta, but it's really bad...in regards to CarPlay. Pioneer firmware 1.07.
  4. May I ask what use this backup is? Sorry to be a nOOb, but I've not really understood the reason for this...
  5. 8200 NEX working fine with iOS 11. Firmware 1.07. iPhone 7. Sometimes non-MFI cables will fail, sometimes it just happens. That's why I always have a few new ones on hand.
  6. Haven't hit it yet. Wife has been using the FJ for a music video, so I'm going to do it today or tomorrow. Will report back once done. FWIW, it's working great with iOS 11 betas. On beta 8 today and no issues yet...
  7. I did - the exact radio. In my Toyo FJ Cruiser, I had that for four years. Got the 8200NEX for my Bday in March and it's night and day - literally. I loved the X940BT at first, but grew to hate it. The screen looked nice, worked horribly. Touch it? Maybe it would do something. The 820x is a dream. Perfect? No. But lightyears ahead. No-brainer.
  8. Yep.it should sure as hell work, I agree. I've also had a love/hate relationship with Pioneer and it's top HU's. This is the reason why - their software dev's are either lazy, don't care, clueless, or out of touch (maybe all of the above). Oh well, will update the firmware today and see what happens...
  9. Do? Write them to complain, but good lord, I can't imaging that they're not aware by now. That said, no new firmware since Feb, so they seem overdue. *edit: just checked again, new firmware - 1.07. https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/NEX/AVIC-8200NEX#downloads Sadly, no mention of this in "fixes": This firmware update (version 1.07) contains the following improvements. - Reduces noise that is emitted when using iPod sources - Add QWERTY keyboard in AppRadio Mode - Corrects a message that is improperly displayed when the system is turned off - Corrects an error that may occ
  10. I see the same thing, FWIW. Current firmware too.
  11. There are a number of cases where on my iPhone using BlueTooth or USB1, I don't get album art. Then, it may start showing, depending on the source/app. Bugs me too, but I've decided not to worry about it as I don't have the time. I keep hoping to see new firmware that might do the trick, but nothing yet has made this 100 reliable.
  12. Yeah, iPhone 6s and iOS 10.3.x and it's pretty useless. Pioneer's iOS software is and has always been the pits. Sadly.
  13. I've had it work every now and then. Pioneer REALLY needs to hire some good software engineers. Every HU I've owned from them has been a PITA. Seriously, how hard can that be? It's like VooDoo making things work on these HU's.
  14. BY wireless, what do you mean? I can use CarPlay fine and also I can just use Bluetooth and then load Spotify. That technically is wireless, so maybe try that...both work great.
  15. I did as well. Had to get a low-life cheap 16GB SD card. Formatted to FAT32 on the Mac and it worked great for both the unit firmware and the Bluetooth. I also tried using a USB flash on USB 1, both worked...
  16. I tried setting up my son's 'Droid to USB2 (I have both in the 8200) and after two days of dicking around, I gave up. USB1 - plug in any iPhone and go. That alone made me happy to stick to Apple. And yes, I went in and played with all the settings and zilch. Not trying to be a troll or fanboy - Apple has it's own issues - but with the CarPlay, Apple wins here. Good luck. If you figure it out, post up...
  17. Hi all, Sorry to bring up what must be a very common question here. I have tried to figure out how to update the internal Maps for when the iPhone(s) lose signal. I have the AVICSYNC app (which sucks) and I downloaded the Q3 2016 Maps update. Now, I "think" I updated the internal setup, but I don't really know for sure. Also, do I have to use that abysmal AVICSYNC app all the time? Do I need to keep the 4-5GB Maps on both the 8200 and the iPhone(s)? Sorry, but I've read and read and I can't get a grip on it. Also, I tried getting the Maps updates on a VM using a Mac - nothing I d
  18. @Inferno_051 - I went clear. I hear what you're saying, and I was contemplating this anti-glare. But I also recall the screen on the older avic-x940bt and I could not cover this beautiful new screen with a dull cover! The clear literally disappears, so it won't help with glare. What I've been doing to is to adjust the screen angle, which helps some...
  19. So, I'm one of those OCD guys that puts cases and screen protectors on everything. Much to my surprise, I found them for the 8200 (and others). I purchased them and put on last week. Very happy with the results. Slightly more difficult that doing a phone on your desk, but it came out perfectly. I have NO affiliation with this product other than I use it. Just thought I would pass it on. You get two of them in the pack, and I was able to get it on, bubble-free and straight the first time. http://www.tuffprotect.com/store/p1265/Pioneer_AVIC-8200nex_Screen_Protectors.html I'd take
  20. So I have a question. Once I supposedly download the maps updates using Avicsync, and xfer to the 8200, do I need to keep them on the iPhone as well? Is the HU actually updated now, or is it using the iPhone's content? Seems odd...
  21. Hmm, I've never been happier with a head unit as I am with the 8200. Only thing that drove me nuts is when my son tried to connect his Android and get that working. Made me love my iPhone even more. I've used two iPhone 6s and a couple of iPods - all worked as expected and very very well.
  22. I have a newly installed 8200nex as well and the controls are all working OK on my Toyo FJ Cruiser. Doesn't help I know, but I was worried it might not work as the last radio I had in there was an X940BT from four years back. Maybe have the installer *assuming it's not you check the cabling, etc.
