  1. I would not. This is the worst piece of electronics I have ever bought. There are still many problems with the unit after the update, i.e. Ipod connectivity doesn't work very well, with constant connection errors. A new problem I encountered has been sound cutting out and needing a reboot. Too many issues to list... but I digress... Sad to say, but this thing drives me bonkers. It should've never left the factory in this condition.
  2. 1. IPOD disconnects each time the unit starts. I've found that the unit will disconnect the ipod if it boots up with the Navigation screen enabled, (i.e. gives the error "ipod communication error" if you had the navigation screen on before you turned off your car). Switch the screen to ipod before you turn off your car, and the ipod won't disconnect/error next time the unit starts. Can someone verify if this is the case for you as well? 2. Map stays in night mode (the black map) when set to automatic, even though the lights are not on. Turning on the car lights will dim the screen, th
  3. Were there any folders (other than the LPUE080 folder) on the card when you put it in the SD slot? I had the exact same problem, formatted the card, and only put the LPUE080 folder on it. Then the unit would read it and the update screen appeared. (I used an SD card, though. Not microSD).
  4. Just updated mine and tested for about 15 minutes. Screen brightness: MUCH Brighter! I can see it now!!!! It was set to 4 after the upgrade. Pushed it to 9 and it's so much brighter than before the update. True test will be driving during the afternoon. I still get screen glare... need to figure out where to buy an anti-glare screen cover now. Touch screen: Response is still sluggish for first 30 secs or so after boot up. Button options on screen are snappier after that... i.e. it actually responds. There's still a delay when I press the Map button, though. Boot-up: Just about th
  5. Darn...Once again... false hopes that I could change the stupid background colors on the unit.
  6. Pardon the segue, but how did you make your ipod screen turn blue? I didn't know you could change the background colors.
  7. hehe.. it would be definitely worth it if you could change the map colors. The Pioneer Daytime colors suck and aren't viewable in the daytime.
  8. Darn Altimas. In addition to the airbag light, I also had the driver side window auto-up issue after disconnecting my battery. Luckily the Internet came to the rescue. It seems like you have to run a cheat code each time you unplug something... Next up: Headlights don't work. Fix: Up Up Down Down Left Right Left Right B A B A Start.
  9. What color scheme are you using for the nav? I didn't know it was possible to get a green background on the map.
  10. I agree. That manual is just as bad as the product.
  11. mine's weird. it understands 'change source to {whatever}' and can do the dial pad but the 'play artist {whatever}' and phone calls are just awful. Same here. "Change Source to ..." works. "Call " works. "Play " works. But "Call " doesn't. Oh... and no GPS Voice recognition. So you can't tell it to "take me to sexy mama". Sadness....
  12. How do you turn the icons on? I don't even see any icons on my screen.
  13. I believe it's: Settings -> System Settings -> Language -> Change the voice language to "Samantha TTS".
  14. Ok... this one was bugging me for awhile, and I finally figured it out today. I saw some questions about it, but no answers/resolutions. And if it was already answered, then don't flame me. (You guys are really harsh sometimes!) So... here's what you do: 1. Go to the Top Menu -> AV Source -> Select "Off" in the bottom right corner to turn off the music 2. Go to the Top Menu -> Settings (bottom right corner) 3. The "Mute/Input Guide" option should be available now. (First option in the 2nd row) 4. Tap to change between Mute, Att, and Normal Mute pauses your music, Att wil
  15. hehe... you'll get those communication errors eventually. I thought I was immune, and then.. BAM! Attack of the "ipod communication error". But it seems related to the VR function. My ipod was working during bootup, started cataloguing the ipod for VR functionality, and then it errored and took the ipod away. But anyways, that was just a comment. So don't flame me. Are you able to see the map screen clearly in the daytime? I had the map color scheme set to daytime red/daytime blue, and the screen was very difficult to see. I had to switch it to nighttime color scheme to see it.
  16. I've also made a total of 5 calls, with the engine on and off. The person on the other end hasn't had issue with the the voice quality.... yet. [edit] What kind of phone? Samsung t619
  17. Ah.. good idea. I didn't know where to buy them and was too lazy to find out. Soldering isn't a good idea for me... I've been known to burn myself on many occasions trying to solder in the car. Been going crazy looking for that thing! Apparently it's not behind or under the refridgerator like the stylus. I even cleaned the entire kitchen looking for it. Still don't know how the stylus ended up behind the fridge. Soooo wierd. Thanks dude!
  18. Mine is "decent". There are issues, but not as bad as what some are reporting. I had it lock up for a bit when trying to use the dialpad to make a call once. The GPS also did something funky this morning while I was playing with it in traffic. The map zoomed out so far that a pic of Earth showed, which was kinda wierd. Boot time is also nowhere near 3+ minutes like what some are reporting. I get audio at around 20-25 seconds, and a full boot at less than a minute. It works out perfect, since that's how long it takes to warm up my car. (I etimating the times. But I can use a stopwatch if an
  19. Thanks Drum. I appreciate it! I'm the same way...not sure if I feel like digging for the wire and ripping everything apart. (but we'll see how I feel once I start installing.) I had an N1 in my last car and I didnt hook up the wire. The only problem was with tall buildings and tunnels (NYC.) Other than that, it was fine. Ok... did a test on the freeway. The gps still seems accurate for me. Route recalculations are fast, and the unit hasn't crashed yet (like how some are reporting). I have a tom tom one and this seems to return about the same results. (I live in Orange County, CA)
  20. I bought it earlier this week and finally installed it this morning! ... without the VSS wire. (I didn't feel like taking apart the instrument panel). Did a quick test run around the block and the nav seemed accurate to me. I'll do some more tests tomorrow on the freeway to see if it's any different. It's an F90BT, by the way.
  21. I downloaded it from pioneer already. But I'd rather read something printed than off the computer. So I take it that printed manuals don't come in the box.
  22. I only have the install manual and the quick start guide. Did anyone's unit come with a printed owner's manual? I would hate to print out all 189 pages of the manual...
  23. Just went to Al & Ed's in Costa Mesa and bought the 90bt with the discount code. Woo! Gotta come pick it up tomorrow since they didn't have it on the shelves today. But $1130 after tax with harnesses and dash kit. Not bad... not bad at all..
  24. That is one SWEEEET deal. I've never ordered from Al & Ed's before and think I'm missing something... I live in SoCal and the checkout says: "It appears that you live outside of our shipping area. Please visit our store locator to find a store near you for pickup." under Delivery Method. Do you continue with the checkout anyways? How do you choose a store to pickup from?
