  1. Hi, after struggling for almost a year with Ipod loosing either the right or left channel, distorted/low audio, after buying cheap ipod ebay cables that did not support data transmission, I was almost to pull the plug on a new Apple cable, when I stumbled in this : http://www.frys.com/product/5621591. Yep,believe it or not, it's the Pioneer CD-IU230V cable, for ...$4.90 (mine was $9.9 a few weeks ago though). Fry's do not ship this cable so having Fry's close I swung by and picked one up, with absolutely no hope it would work. Well, I installed it and it actually works! Finally I ca

Never in any abrubt manner or over bumps. not exhbiting any sort of loose connection type issue at all I have *exactly* the same problem/behavior! -S

    HD Radio

I second that! No way to store the radio name/frequency in the presets, plus you have these groups of 6 presets (FM1, FM2, FM3) that are very annoying. Just have a continuous list of presets so you can scroll though them easily. Beside that, installation is very straightforward, reception quality is excellent in my area, I'll never go back to analog radio again! Pioneer if you are listening please fix the HD Preset labels ! -S
  4. Here Ipod classic still dropping one channel (driver side) between 1 and 3 times in 30m. Every time you turn on the car you do not know if it will play on both channels or not. To select a route you still have to go trough 3 sub menus.... Phone system still cannot send tones therefore rendering useless auto dial into conference calls or voice mail systems (unless you call from your handset - illegal now in some west coast states.. Initiating a call from the AVIC while listening music will bring you to the map screen, instead of ipod screen for example, and render the AVIC unrespo
  5. I resolved the issue. using iTunes I "restored" i.e. completely erased and reset the Ipod and then synced mu music again with Itunes. Album artwork now displays on the AVIC. Most likely either mediamonkey or using the Ipod as storage messes up the internal Ipod database. Hope this helps. -S
  6. Hi, same here. I started using itunes and I could see the album artwork on the AVIC. Then I switched to mediamonkey...and not artwork anymore. I switched back to itunes, re imported all my songs and synced to ipod and still no artwork on the avic. artwork are present on the ipod itself, so something is preventing to display the pictures on the avic (mine is a 700BT) -S
  7. Same here. it is definitely not a cable problem. It is a software issue. I have ipod classic 6th (I guess) generation and beside the driver side channel going mute randomly, if I play a lot with albums, playlists selection, skipping and ff/rr songs the ipod connection drops, in a few cases freezing also the Ipod (I Had to un-freeze it with the up/menu key combination) BTW I checked also all my wires to make sure and everything is connected well. This is an aspect that need to be fixed. Also, i agree blue boxes in map mode when not in navigation needs to go away. Another issue is that when
  8. Well, thanks for the advise/suggestions. After a bit of experiments that's what I found out: 1. Positioning the antenna on the dash instead of outside made a difference. This will depends on the stuff your car has under the dash. In my case (mustang-07) signal was better on the dash that under. Roughly in the same relative position. 2. The metal plate under the antenna (or any metallic surface for that matter) does make a difference. I put the antenna on the dash and outside with the GPS setting screen I could definetely see that the signal streng
  9. Hi, Is the black metal plate that comes with the GPS antenna really needed ? While mounting in my car under the dash I deformed it quite a bit. Now my F700BT (with updated firmware) takes quite a while to lock on the satellites. Accuracy is reported to be "high" but it takes forever to lock and the signal strengths bars are yellow. I'm thinking to relocate the antenna but I cannot use the metal plate anymore. If anybody know also where I can find a new one I will appreciate. Thanks -stoca
  10. Hi, I also have *exactly* the same problem. I found out that by just disconnecting and reconnecting the USB connector of the ipod Pioneer cable the sounds come back from both speakers. This is systematic and therefore I do not think is a cable issue but more of a software problem. Sometimes it happens when I start the car, some other times when I'm driving. When Ipod sound is coming only from the passenger side speakers, if you switch to radio the sound comes from both speakers. If you switch back to Ipod the sounds is still from the passenger side. Weird. -S
  11. Actually, it would be great to enable RDS while using FM. Beside all the customizations we should also try to enable additional functionality such as FM RDS in US, VR in EU, and of course the holy-grail for the F-series is stand-by/hibernation. -S

  13. This need to be addressed natively by Pioneer. While testing the unit, or coming up with the prototype the should have realized that for example, people stop to drop-off kids to school, for say 10m, or stop at the gas station for 5m. So they should put the unit in a some sort of stand-by or "fast-recovery" mode for the first say 15-30m and THEN the unit shuts-down, instead of repeating the whole start-up process every time. The unit is based on WinCE, and it's basically a mini-pc and should have this type of capability. just my 2C. --sav
  14. Hi, a problem I have is with podcasts. I cannot skip to the next/previous podcast and also I cannot fast forward or rewind. The same podcast keep playing in a loop and the only way to change podcast is to go to the podcast tab and select another one, that , especially if you have many short podcasts render listening podcasts almost impossible. Anyone has the same problem ? If yes I will open up a support ticket with Pioneer. My Ipod is a 6th generation, hooked up with the Pionerr interface cable. I did not try with the previous firmware version. --sav
  15. Hi, I have a 700BT installed (with latest update) on a Mustang 07. Do you know if there is a way to mod the cruise controls on the mustang (or any other car as a starting point) to control the F700 volume and also control the prev/next song ? On a Mustang forum I saw a similar mod but it was for a mustang 2000 stock radio. On a different topic, I really miss the RDS capability of the factory head-unit and while it was clear that RDS was not offered on the 700BT , for $849 in my opinion RDS should be a must. Maybe it can be enabled via software now that we got some visibility onto the
  16. my fiance's got the F in her 06 stang and theres no problem with readability or glare. Thanks for the info. I removed the dimmwer connection since it was apparently not working and I'll try tomorrow to see if it makes any difference. In the garage It did not seem to improve though. Does the dim work for your fiancee ? --stoca
  17. Hi, I have a F700 and a Sony-Ericsson W580i. In order to make a call via voice activation do you need to have a voice command already associated to that particular contact on your phone too ? That is my understanding, but it seems I'm not able to make it work. Contacts seems to have transferred correctly from the phone to the f700. Being not a native english speaker - with quite some accent - I wonder how much the VR algorithm is able to decode the voice command. Does anybody know if for a phone call the actual voice decoding/matching is performed by the f700 or the phone ? The phone se
  18. Hi, my Sony-Ericsson W580i worked right away: established BT connection, able to make/receive calls and transferred all the contacts at first try. Voice quality of receiving calls is good. Voice quality when calling seems good but I need to test a little bit more. To start I had the echo off and my voice came through clear with a little echo of course. --stoca
  19. Just installed a F700 in a mustang 07 and the screen is indeed difficult to read. It's almost unreadable in daylight condition. it seems to me that the problem may be due to the display viewing angle. During installation (in the garage) it was quite legible since I was directly in front of the unit, but as soon I road tested it I realized I could not even read the map or the text during navigation. Before installing the F700 I was using a garmin c330 on the dash and the screen was oriented exactly in my direction so the there was no glare, but definitely the LCD screen was better. I guess p
