  1. "asked a number of guys there about the internals of the 910 compared to the 900 and all of them said the 910 was a faster processor. I still cant find any proof on this anywhere, im sure the 3.0 software helps a lot, but I never had the 3.0 software on my 900 to compare." ??? You are saying the 910 is so much better/faster yet you are comparing a 910 on 3.0 with a 900 on 2.x? Of course it is faster my 900 is way faster with 3.0
  2. Thanks 6605stang! - you saved me 99.00 - I got my refund.
  3. I just received an email from MSN Direct confirming that the service will end in 2012. I know that is a long way away - is pioneer working on a fix for the F/X series to replace MSN?

    Which Ipod?

I recommend the ipod classic for sure - my son's touch works however the album art is pixalated while mine looks perfect. It never leaves the car - only to sync. I've had 0 problems.
  5. Hopefully once we all get the 3.0 update applied we will then be able to partake of these latest 3.x fixes - especially if they re-wrote the UI from the ground up - there are bound to be a few glitches with the new 3.0 with patches coming out quickly - such as the one you referenced. Just my .02$ Let's keep our fingers crossed.
  6. Thanks for the videos - I see that this unit is fairly glitchy as the F series was at first - so there will likely be a forum starting soon. I prefer the F Series voice control for the iPod - much better (I have a old utube video that shows the voice control of the ipod much better than the kenwood) - the nav in the kenwood is very cool - I give it points for that and the bigger screen is also very cool. For once though my F900 boots way faster. In all though - I do not see this as blowing away the F Series - many people may not like the F Series - but hey it has been out way longer t
  7. Wow - I agree pretty much 100% with what you have said - and I cracked up at the mad dash to hang up when the voice control goes wrong - I'm afriad to use it for calling people. Otherwise I live with the annoyances - and like the unit - just cannot wait until more updates come out. We all say it is a beta product which seems for sure - still though it is the best product out on the market. Lots of people are looking to get the new kenwood when it comes out - I ask this - how come you do not have a kenwood now (the current products do not match)
  8. All I can say is hang in there and keep trying - make sure the unit has BT turned on. After my BB patch and the Pioneer BT Patch (the main BT patch not the one for some specific phones) - it has been 100% functional - always connecting in under a minute. Yesterday someone called me just after I started the car, normally I wouldn't answer and wait - then call back, this time I picked up from my phone - started talking - then the BT kicked in and the conversation transfered to the car - it was amazing! Even with my blackberry completely dead on battery - it still connects perfectly. Wi
  9. Sorry to bump this thread - but wow - I love my F900 once again. Ok - I've had the F900 since it first came out - had it installed back in July of 08 - lived with it - then the 1.7 update came out - wow - that was cool - unit much better (not perfect but noticably better) - I've finally applied the 2.0 update and the bluetooth update. Despite some initial issues with my black berry pearl - now that I've updated that - my Bluetooth connectivity is consistently 1 minute and never drops - extremely stable - sound quality is perfect. IPod interface remains unchanged which is great
  10. If you want iPod - then the answer is simple. The voice control on the F is a huge benefit - album art etc - very nice - much better interface. I love my F900 especially after the 2.0 update. It kicks ass despite all the nay sayers. Blue tooth is freaken awesome now - connected in a minute consistently and great sound quality.
  11. and requires two or more updates to be 'somewhat' comparable
  12. Just an FYI - I've applied the Blackberry OS upgrade to V 4.5.0.110 and that has resolved my issue. And now it works perfectly. At first it didn't connect - but I was able to see that the Avic found the phone and the phone found the Avic - I just had to re-enter the 1111 password - and now it connects right up in about a minute - hopefully it keeps up this performance.
  13. Hey folks, Sorry for the new post - but I've searched a bit but wanted to see if there was more up to date information. I've finally applied the 2.0 update and the Blue Tooth update to my F900. After the update I can no longer connect my phone. The F900 cannot find the phone and the BB cannot find the F series when I try to pair the two. Prior to the update everything worked fairly well - phone book transfer, sound quality etc worked well - my only complaint was the long delay on initial connection - lots of connecting and disconnecing messages - after a few minutes connected.
  14. Well my CA-R-PI.133 does these: (<1s = press for less than 1 second, >1s = hold it for over 1 second)) "Up" <1s = radio Freq +or CD: Track + "UP" >1s = radio presets + or CDC: disck + (not avaiable with F-series since no CDC) "Down" <1s = radio Freq - or CD: Track - "Down" >1s = radio presets - or CDC: disck - (not avaiable with F-series since no CDC) "+" Volume + "-" Volume - "+"& "up" <1s Source (this switches between the sources available, i.e. FM/AM/CD/IPod) "+"& "up" >1s Off/On (Hmm I havnt try this yet, I'm not sure if this works on F-series or no
  15. I'm not having any of the issues others are reporting - mine works perfectly. I was looking into the CAR-PI 131 but opted for the PAC unit. The Car-pi is cool because it displays PIONEER on your dash - but that is about it. On the PAC Audio unit you have more control to program more buttons. I use my phone pickup button for mute - something you cannot do with the car-pi. I have the following controls: track up/down (right hand top controls) mute (right hand bottom left control) Volume up/down (left hand top controls) Thanks, Chris
  16. I use the Pac Audio SWI-CAN and SWI-PS with my F900 (04 C240 w/Bose) Works perfectly - I'm extremely happy with it. I had All Pro Audio in Santa Clara, CA install it (the entire system.) Good luck
  17. I went w/the F900 over the kenwood as the iPod integration kicks ass. I'm very happy with the F Series.
  18. If you do not get an answer here - search the mb forums - I know I've read about this there - It is suppose to be behind the fuse box. Good luck.
  19. My BB Pearl 8100 works just fine - takes forever for it to connect - @ 5 minutes - but once connected works like a champ
  20. Just a thought - you didn't have a cd in the cd drive did you? I recall this causing issues with the upgrade. If so - see if you can get it to eject - then try again. Just a thought... Good luck.
  21. Still no excuse, I've had the Z2, F90, and now the DNX and the F takes over twice as long to boot up....unacceptable. It's Pioneer "economy" unit, they aren't going to put the effort into it as they do their flagship Z-series. (Direct quote from a Pioneer rep) Wow - a quote from a callcenter rep. Buy the Z it costs more - must be better. All the good new features are in the F series. I shopped around - I would have bought the D series over the Z - way better reviews. The iPod interface of the F series makes it much better. When the Z gets the voice control and better iPod interfac
  22. I'm happy with the F900 - I'm not having nearly as many problems as others - my blackberry pearl syncs contacts any time I want, phone calls come in with the id displayed, call clarity is pretty clear - sometimes very clear other times not so clear (this is the case with using a cell phone in general) Ipod is great - very happy with it - but most importantly - if it wasn't for the steering wheel SWI-PS controls - I would be more unhappy with the unit. Steering wheel controls actually complete the unit - example - slow boot up - not an issue with the controls - for example - after I tur
  23. You are right though (voice control does both album and artist) - It would be great if there was a button option as you mentioned above that does what the voice control does. That should be too difficult for them to add to the unit - should just be a firmware update since the button would do exactly the same thing the voice control does - just call the same method. I agree - this would be great - especially when you have passengers in the car and are too embarassed to use the voice control.
  24. We'll the voice control gives you one of those features - play the artist - will play all the songs from the artist regardless of album. I find I like the voice control for the iPod better than the screen options - screen options require way too many clicks to hear a song: Example: I'm driving - I click the artists tab - I have to look down to scroll to an artist - I click artist - then I get albums or all songs - if I click all songs - it still doesn't play anthing until I touch a song in the list. Way too much figiting and eye's off the road just to use the buttons to play a so
  25. I used Rustoleum satin black on mine (the dash piece and not the unit itself) - I'm much happier with it - just two coats(4 hours between coats) no sanding - let dry 24 hours. Before it was flat black which really stood out especially with the high gloss finish. I've always used satin black for dash parts in previous cars.
