  1. Hi Chuck,

Great job on your mod. Breathing new life into my unit!

Problem however as I was tooling around and selected a map I don't have in the UI that allows one to select an alternate map. I cannot figure out how to correct this as the unit keeps rebooting and generating an error that it cannot find the map. Where is this preference stored? I tried re-installing...

I tried re-installing the MOD but still no go. Help please
  3. Can you post a screenshot of the combined mods?
  4. I am getting an invalid file when downloading
  5. This looks perfect! Can you post your Data.zip file? I would like to simply implement the theme as you have it as the mods you made are exactly what I want.. Thanks@@
  6. Fantastic work! If you supply a PayPal address, I (and I am sure many others) will be more than happy to contribute a few bucks for all of your hard work and continued efforts! THIS type of work is exactly why I bought this unit despite the number of "out of the box" defects. This is a VERY hackable unit and that makes it worth every penny.
  7. I have implemented this and so far, the unit does appear to be more responsive. My only guess is that it was running out of RAM before so it needed to use virtual memory which is far more expensive a transaction.
  8. How do I apply these "themes" ?
  9. My bad. I don't think the page fully loaded before I submitted. D'oh! Sorry about that! Is there anyway we could get a preview of what each scheme looks like?
  10. Need to give props to "tacomaboy" for noting the existence of this file.
  11. I have confirmed that changing the parking_break_speed value in the DATA.zip file (/project_config/pioneer.ini) does in fact bypass the video/gps restriction without changing any wiring. I set the value to 128.0 (thought it odd that they picked 16, so I assumed they were using the standard 1,2,4,8,16 binary notation so I chose a number that would fit in that series, hence 128). I know this works because I just installed this unit 2 days ago and did NOT use any bypass. With the change made to the ini file, I can now enjoy video while traveling up to 128 MPH

  13. So I simply need to have the "moded" files on my SD card along with the MiTACAP and Testmode folders and I can simply replace the existing original files with the moded ones on my SD card?
  14. So let me make sure I understand this: 1) These files will allow me to boot the device directly into Windows CE 2) From there, I can copy the firmware (zip file) the device loads during each boot-up onto my SD card 3) I can then edit the firmware ZIP file loaded at startup by the unit on my system and change/replace the necessary files for the "hacks/mods" 4) I then copy the updated ZIP file back to the SD card, insert and restart the system. 5) The new ZIP file firmware will be copied to the device (with whatever cchanges I have made) and then used during each subsequent bootup
  15. F900 was delivered today. Will be getting installed on Tuesday Very excited (despite a lot of the negative comments/reviews etc.). I am a computer geek at heart (although a Mac guy not a Windows fan) so the "customization/hacking" if pretty appealing. I can live with the bugs and hopefully the 2.0 firmware release fixes the major ones (BT cutouts, iPod cutouts etc.). I have a feeling you will be hearing from me a bit as I "explore" the potential of the system and the underlying OS.
  16. Just made the purchase. Thanks everyone! I know exactly what to expect from this unit based on all of the knowledge on these forums. Here's hoping that update 2.0 fixes the remaining "glitches" and improves start-up times. Until then, I will live with the quirks but will enjoy all of the benefits.
  17. Thanks everyone for the excellent info! One last question: I spoke to a few "Mom and Pop" audio install locations in my area and none of them stated they would allow that change either during or before install. They did say that I would be free to make the changes after the install. My question to that is, if they install it using the parking break ground, how easy would it be for me to go in afterwords and reconfigure using the bypass method. Also just to confirm, the bypass will work in the 900 regardless of that fact that it has the gyro that can sense motion? Anyone in the
  18. Hey All, I have spent the past 2 days researching the Avic-F900BT as my new in-car entertainment solution. It appears there are still some "kinks" to work out, but all-in-all this appears to be the current best in bread for this price-point. I have read through most of the posts on this forum and there is some great knowledge and tips. I have a couple of basic questions however which I oddly could not find an answer for: 1. Bypass - Is there a restriction on the unit that does not allow for video viewing while the vehicle is moving? 1A. Is the bypass simply "working around" that
