  1. Can't tell you about Sirius, but I have the HD add-on. I'm not 'wow'-ed. If it were free, I'd take it. Easy to install and works thru the head unit. My biggest gripe is the unit does not store the station info on the preset screen.

    Scion tC

I installed my 2006 tC and it was pretty easy. I had a manual shift. Unscrewed shift handle, lift up lower console unplugging cord to cig lighter. Lift up top radio/air vent unit unplugging cord. Two screws and two hex nuts and the old unit is out. Really very easy. I ran the GPS under the glove box, up the side and inbetween the dashboard so it was mounted on the far right of the windshield. I put the microphone in front of the blue light for high beams clipped on the circular dial cover for speedometer, ran wire for mic on top of steering wheel into radio cavity. The one thing I haven't
  3. I have a 2006 Scion tC and a 900BT. I get virtually no AM reception. There's a power wire (blue) coming out of the head unit labeled power antenna. I can't find anything to hook it to... From everything I"ve read, my car doesn't have a powered antenna. I have a small black whip antenna on the back. Does anyone know if the tC has two antennas? One in the glass and one on the back deck? Do I have to hook up the blue antenna power from the head unit? How can I get AM reception??? Thanks in advance.
  4. Mounted my antenna on the dashboard near the bottom of the front windshield on the right. No problems whatsoever.
  5. OK, then. Bye. We'll miss your insightful commentary (not). I want to know the answer too! The guy who hates it with a passion replied in 11min... lol i replied in 11 min b.c i was online ..and thay why is a forum...to talk now ..i am a woman and not a guy...and when i pay 1000$ for something ..i expect this piece of sh...to work..not to have to mod or to do anything to it.. i bought this for tHE msn and the bluetooth..and both dont work...so this unit is useless..AND COST 1000$$ TO ME kenwood works!!!!!!! i intsalled it yesterday and it works!!!!!! WORKS!!!
  6. Haven't seen that, but I have seen some really weird stuff. Seems like there's always one component that just won't work right. So, I do a reset with the switch on the front and then things seem to get back to (somewhat) normal for a while. Try a reset to see if that doesn't fix it for you.
  7. In the event they actually read this thread, here's what i'd like to see.. Phone calls don't automatically switch to the map screen. Phone calls pause CD playback. I listen to audiobooks and miss parts of the story because of phone calls. Bigger buttons on the phone controls. More colorful screens on the audio playback. The white on black is boring. How about the ability to choose a background screen? Fix the presets on the HD screens so it remembers the station names. Add a voice mute (copy the hack here) on the map screen. Ability to change the clock size and colo
  8. Dancing Dolphins should be illegal just based on good taste alone!
  9. For me, its a 'belt and suspenders' thing because I already did the hard wire fix ... just doing the parking brake number just in case....
  10. The pioneer.ini file was there and so was the =16 on the parking brake line. I changed mine to 256, but if it is an unsigned integer, then I should back that off to 255. Secondly... I tried the fix to add the button to turn the voice nav on/off and it failed. I originally used his entire data.zip file, but this time, worried that there might be some updates to the code in the data.zip file, I just inserted the lines for the voice nav on/off and the lines to change the compass to a 'cancel route' button. Neither worked. Here's my question... has anyone check to see if functionality is
  11. flyboyindy... did you have to reload them after you did the update, or did they work from when you loaded them before?
  12. I'm usually a very early adopter, but I'm not eager for this. We need a BRAVE soul to test this out for us! Any volunteers? Anybody? Buhler? Buhler??
  13. I had to first run the screen calibration. Then I had to figure out you have to tap each icon three or four times to get a 'double click'. If you tap it only twice, it doesn't respond. Try tapping multiple times.
  14. I had that problem too. Although not very intuitive, click EDIT on the entire gas station POI (unless you want specific station) and it will bring up a menu where you can turn on the POIs for that category.
  15. Unfortunately this is a pattern for a lot of these 'camera' discount companies. You buy at an unbelievable price and then get THE phone call. Well, did you want the camera strap? Only $59.99. Did you want the knob for the front of the radio? Only $199. The caller's job is to get the rest of the profit out of you that they didn't get on the sale price. Always check reseller ratings online before you buy... they reveal this practice. I always shop Amazon to see what their best price is. If you get it cheaper than whats advertised on Amazon, then triple check the vendor before you buy!! B
  16. Mine didn't save, but that's because I hit the hard reset button. I tried again and put the slider about 75% on the right, turned ignition off. I turned power back on, went back in to test mode and it was about 50-55%, not the place I left it. I wonder if you move it too far if it self adjusts??
  17. Hey, Iceman... Do you get decent AM radio with the splitter? I get good FM good HD, but can't find an AM station for beans... any ideas?
  18. Found the GPS screen... I've always found those screens interesting to watch and this one was no different. While sitting still, I was 'moving' .03 mph. I know that is because of satellite reception and the location algorithms in the unit. I started to move and it immediately recognized the speed and seemed accurate. I think to make extra sure, I'll hide or move the GPS antenna (or hit a covered parking garage) and see if the speed is still accurate. I just wish they would have programmed in a test for the VSS. But, I'm still a bit confused on the voice/sound setting. I see where you can h
  19. Thanks for the info. Will try your suggestion.
  20. I have a 2005 Scion tC and found the VSS wire under the glove box. I hooked in the purple wire and plugged it in to my 900. But, I can't tell if its working or not. How can one tell without pulling everything apart again and volt-meter testing the wire (I understand you can measure voltage across it as the speed increases, right??). Thanks!
  21. I occasionally lose MSN Direct. Pressing the reset button gets it back.

    Phone fix?

Anyone else have problems with using your handsfree on your phone and it automatically switching (on calls I dial) to the map screen automatically? Wonder if there is a way to send it back to the main phone screen instead so I don't have to push numerous buttons to dial the next number...
  23. Haven't seen this so I thought I'd pass it along... In the MSN Direct screen, there are two butterfiles. Tap them alternating right to left and after about three touches of the screen, it goes into a status screen that tells you what radio station its getting its info from, when it was last updated and when the last 'key' was received, which I assume is the permission key to get and display the data.
  24. I know there's a way to read the speed from the nav unit. I also know there's a script control to turn volume up/down. I wonder if someone can write a quickie script that would increase the volume as speed increases and reduce the volume as speed decreases. It really should not be that hard to do given all the other hacks I've seen. Stephanie? Any ideas??
  25. I believe I read in the HACK threads that there is now a software fix where you change the speed setting from 16 to 128 and you no longer need the hardwire workaround. Search for 16 to find out how. It will save you some obvious pain
