  1. You need the amplified antenna adapter, if the shop didn't know that I'm scared.
  2. Does the unit have a proper ground? What kind of car is this? More information needed please.
  3. So, let me get this right...you're old unit said check antenna, you got a new unit and it still says check antenna? Check antenna, from experience (7 years worth), typically means the antenna is shot. They are $30, but a new one, if it's not return it. The other large category is the XM tuner is bad (rare with the direct adapters).
  4. What kind of car is it? The black box is typically 1 of 2 things. It's either a line conditioner or the fuse for 12v.
  5. 1. If you bought the update from an authorized dealer, just send them the SD cards and they will give you a new set. 2. If you did not buy it from an authorized dealer then that's your fault and deal with the circumstances. ANY time you send in a computer or anything that has different firmwares, it is ALWAYS reformatted to the factory state as it was bought. Stop complaining about something that is common practice.
  6. As an installer I see MANY customers come in needing a new antenna in roughly a (1) years time. 2 years is not bad at all. $30, replace it.
  7. Not necessarily. You have to keep in mind that your speedometer is not 100% accurate. There are factors (including tire size variance) that determine what your speedometer thinks you are traveling vs what you actually are. Typically GPS is a more accurate reading.
  8. You need the SCC1 with the SB-10 for Sirius on the Pioneer units. Those are the ONLY current adapters. To be honest with you the Sirius interface SUCKS. Get the GEX-P-920XM for you and your friends. You'll be happier with it. I have pictures of what it looks like if u want them.
  9. Well honestly at this point I'd re-downloaded 2.0 and reinstall it. Start from scratch.
  10. That is not normal for an iPod to do that unless the battery is toast. Remove the iPod from the chain and see if the unit still switches sources when you power it up. No it doesn't. I already knew that and that I didnt have a problem. LOL just trying to offer him so advice to try.
  11. Well I know that sometimes my sources change. But I know why. For instance, I have Sirius and if that's playing during bootup it sometimes switches to my iPod. This is the reason: My iPod shut off completely so when I start the AVIC unit it powers the iPod back up. The AVIC automatically switches to the newly "connected" source. Don't know why yours is switching to AM unless whatever source your on is getting disconnected mid boot-up somehow.
  12. Make sure all the settings on your BB are first name first. If you let the AVIC automatically transfer the contacts it'll automatically transfer last name first because that's how the BB stores your contacts. Instead, delete all the contact ON the AVIC then in your bluetooth settings select transfer contacts via bluetooth. Upon transfer they should be exactly how they are shown in your contacts area in your BB. K THNX BAI
  13. DON'T INSTALL A SWITCH. That's the complete wrong way to do it. Either connect it to the keysense wire (probably will have to use a relay to reverse the polarity), or there is a switched 12V source under the dash. I forgot where it was on the MKV but check VWVortex for a better answer.
  14. The VSS should be hooked up. It serves a purpose which is to aid the GPS signal (along with the Gyro). No that is not true; I've experienced no problems what-so-ever with any dubs that I've hooked them up on, including my own.
  15. I had the same problem. You have to send your contacts to the AVIC, you can't have your phone automatically transfer them. The way BB store the names in your phone, no matter how YOU set it, is last name first. So go to your BT menu in your BB and select send contacts via bluetooth then DISABLE auto-transfer or you'll have two contacts for everyone (A.K.A. you'll have Joe Smith and Smith Joe). Also make sure that your phonelist is first name first in ALL menus involving contact listing.
  16. Where do you guys go for installation? These people sound like retards. Green wire behind the cluster Pin-28 of 32-pin plug. Not responsible for you fucking shit up.
  17. Nope, their employees can be fired if the bypass an in-dash video unit.
  18. Just an F.Y.I. about your "things to do" list. #3 - Video Parking Brake By-Pass I don't know about other installers and other states, but I won't do it to a customers car. It's illegal in most states for video to be displayed in the front of the car. I am not going to be held responsible for the idiot driving. If they get into an accident and a video was playing, the INSTALLER can be held responsible, not worth the time, money, job, and frustration.
  19. I heard of a rumor that there is a navigation add-on that may become available to add onto the AVH units. Just a rumor though.
  20. Mine didn't come with a trim ring I had to buy the double din cage kit from Pioneer; that came with the trim ring.
  21. I think that's a very good deal. Check the breakdown (all items brand new): AVIC-Z110BT (from eBay): ~$1150 Back-up Camera (depending on which one he is using): ~$50 ($1200) iPod Cable (CD-IU50V from eBay): ~$20 ($1220) Steering Wheel Control Interface (from eBay): ~$50 ($1270) XM Tuner: (from eBay): ~$90 ($1360) Installation (depends on where you go but most places around here charge like this): - In-Dash: $100 ($1460) - Bluetooth Microphone: $20 ($1480) - Back-Up Camera: $50 ($1530) - iPod Cable to Glovebox: $20 ($1550) - Steering Wheel Interface: $50 ($1600) - XM Tuner Add-O
  22. Not by any means. Pioneer is committed to their car audio brands, they are just doing away with the Premier line. A couple rumors I heard is that they are coming out with another line, just under a different name but to the same extent of what the Premier line was/is. Pioneer IS NOT leaving car audio, they did leave making TV's, but not car audio.
  23. LMAO WOW. I really hope you don't bring your car there anymore. If they are "professionals" they should know that they were full of shit. Where is this place and what is the company name? That just sounds outrageous to me. VSS wires, while some are a PITA to get to, should be hooked up with ANY in-dash that has VSS. That's the way my shop does it; proper installation is the key to making sure things work the way they should.
  24. Anyone get a software bypass (similar to the alternative bypass method for the F series) yet?
