  1. typically the initial setup needing to be done is a result of the constant power being disconnected.
  2. Not at all, just not a blind consumer. I am an independent retailer/MECP/ASE certified 12v technician.
  3. never said you'd be letting Pioneer dictate your actions. You can do whatever the fuck you want. I'm saying that it's like converting your car into E85 when no gas station around you carries it and throwing a fit.... I haven't updated my iPhone to 8 yet. Maybe it's because I work in the industry and see how much these IOS updates affect all manufacturers. Hell, when the iPhone 5 came out, Kenwood couldn't even use the bluetooth, Alpine needed a firmware update to connect via USB and BT. Just saying.
  4. I understand the frustration. But why would you update to the "latest and greatest" os...which really doesn't seem that vastly different...knowing that there is compatibility issues (its not just isolated to Pioneer product, this happens EVERY time Apple releases a new phone and OS).
  5. First make sure the setting is appropriate (power, or ground), and confirm you're getting the requisite voltage, or lack thereof, when the vehicle is in reverse. sounds like connection or settings issue.
  6. I haven't owned them, but I've installed them. I like them for a flip out. Personally I would stick with a double-din but that's my preference. You'll need a 2x pulse e-brake bypass as you can't run relays or straight grounds with these units (TR7 or they sell micro bypasses on e-bay for like 10-20$. Anyway it will be a vast improvement over the U310. I'd suggest looking at 7500BT unit as the BT streaming and hands-free is worth it IMO, for a nominal increase in price.
  7. How can you write up an "extensive" review when you didn't install it? You're missing one of the largest part of the review, the installation and the quality of the product. Most people only see the "exterior" of the product. Real technicians can see the quality BEHIND the pretty lights.
  8. That's pretty cheap. That's actually below dealer cost IIRC.
  9. The NEX units offer two cameras front and rear, rear is denoted by the brown connector. RTFM
  10. How far are you away? Bluetooth only has a finite operating area, also have to keep in mind that metal surfaces also can diminish the range (say your standing outside your car, or at the back of it, or if the radio is surrounded by metal).
  11. Are you just saying the AM/FM isn't "loud", or every source?
  12. 1. You have to use the CD-IH202 in order for AppMode to work via iPhone5/5C/5S (you'll also need a usb to lightning sync cable and the Apple HDMI/Lightning to Lightning adapter). 2. You need to have the phone paired with Bluetooth as well. Parts needed besides CD-IH202: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD826ZM/A/lightning-digital-av-adapter?fnode=0fe7dd59a83f17257038dca3d140afb36817eb4543822a32c018d49db58ac0e340521470a01503ccda406ba977c53a85b7a8115c7bbc3027b0119a579856301bfa689d7d165d0c1a38c4705afb98515e0bb62a9387649205c90f9325ffeac7f4c1475112e452bad8dd912a3ad58232d9 http://store
  13. The sound file for the TTS is horrible. I don't use it for that reason. I use the non TTS (even though she sounds like shes trying to seduce the directions).
  14. I'm sorry but as an installer whos worked in the industry for close to a decade, its absolutely inexcusable to not know how to bypass a radio when there's sites like this (and you should have the knowledge of what each radio needs to "view video" to properly bypass). It's extremely discrediting, at least in my opinion (not to mention charging $40 for it, lol).
  15. I noticed this the other day. I have been installing professionally for almost a decade so I have an ear for little issues. I have the RF 360.3 processor and Power series amplifiers all being powered from the 8000NEX that I just purchased. The other day I was listening to Spotify via USB so my phone could charge and I started notificing some crackling/popping. This is common with streaming audio (typically with Pandora) but not so much Spotify. So I switched to some music stored locally and the same thing happened. Switched to HD sounded fine, ok not coming from the radio itself or any of the
  16. As an installer I deal with a lot of indash navigation units. By far I like the Z130BT better then the Kenwood 7180, Clarion 501, Alpine 910, among some JVC units, etc. The navigation does do some weird things sometimes but overall I am happy with it, and most customers are as well. The Clarion 501 has a lot of problems (especially if you're using it for an extended period of time) with the internal memory running out and freezing the entire unit. The Kenwood unit's interface is SLLLLOOOOWWWW. They added a lot of animations so it takes 1. Longer to boot up, 2. Long time to get from on
  17. high pass filter channels? lol I dont know where to begin. the "ways" of the speaker don't really determine whether you should put an amp to them. the speakers you are using dont' need an amplifier. They are "normal" aftermarket replacements. If you'd like the have cleaner, louder sound (in layman's terms) you can amp them, but typically 4x6 speakers can not handle a lot of power, especially LFE (<100hz).
  18. DRL's are a U.S. DOT feature. Do you have fog lights? If so you can use those as you have to turn those on via the switch
  19. I've glassed 8" shall subs into doors. I also used a good amount of sound deadening on the inner and outer skin. If you are looking to do it in your dub, it's going to be an issue with depth as it barely fits speakers without spacers. You'll prob have to surface mount it. I'll see if I can find pics of the one I did.
  20. You have to make sure the backup camera is off. Once it is turned on and nothing is attached to it, it gets confused and stays on. go to the settings and there is an option for it.
  21. Yea, for some reason once the unit is updated to 3.0 it does this. My g/f's did the same thing until we sold it. It's annoying. If you want to buy a Z120BT (practically brand new) let me know
