  1. Here in Canada, NT does provide lane info but lacks of speed limits. TA does provide speed limits but lacks of lane info. What is the joke? We are into 2010 now . Anybody knows something else?
  2. Just want to post the link to Retell's post for new readers of the forum: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=32351 Enjoy.
  3. Hey Retell, Quoted from your first post: "2. When the pioneer logo comes up, press and hold the menu, map, eject and the reset buttons at the same time. When you hear a pop sound from your speakers, let go of the eject button but continue to hold menu, map, and eject buttons. " Could you please clarify? I think that one the red text should be "reset". Thanks.
  4. For the AVIC Emulator, you can search with AVIC_Emulator (see the underscore) in the forum for download link. Good lucks.
  5. You're welcome! As you now understand the space limitation within the AVIC, you're ready for additional mods and hacks as well .
  6. Thanks Abb for your consideration. Please don't feel obligated to do so, there are lot of ideas to make the mod better, but that will also consumpt lot of your time. Later ...
  7. Exterminator??? What bug what bug? Still can't wait to get into that though, curious about trying new stuff
  8. OK I understand. There is a long method and for sure it will work : The method consists of creating an additional monochrome icon for each one in question, then show one of the other dependent on the GPS valid status, pretty much the same method as you use to show the AV_ON and AV_OFF icons. Anyway, I guess I am the only one who make this request ...
  9. That is normal behavior. You have to remove the dependency with the "visiblemodel=gps.valid", so the greyout icon will be shown without regards to the GPS signal, but unselectable. This is what I did for one or two icons in the navigation_800_480.ui file that I PM you last week (the dependency removal but not the greyed out icon). You can do the same. In my opinion, this will make your mod much nicer, for many.
  10. Apparently in final debugging, just before releasing to beta testing.
  11. I have a X710BT, and I tried lately converting the Avatar DVD to the MP4 format to play by the AVIC and work fine. I tried the following configurations: WinXDVD Platinum Converter AAC audio, 128, 160 or 192 kbps, 48 K sampling rate MP4 video (High Quality Video Engine checked), 480 kbps, or 640 kbps, start to lag with 800 kbps, 1024 kbps Custom and keep aspect ratio selected, 720x404 (Avatar! Other movie will vary) File size is around 1 GB but I already play Avatar with 1024 kbps video that shot up to 2.2 GB, playable but lag seriously, which confirm that the ARM CPU is way under-pow
  12. Well, if Pioneer's coders are not dumb, they could retrieve the current time from the battery backup, which is not a big deal .
  13. No, the 'visiblemodel=' overrides all. Like I was saying though, if all icons are full, you would never know if you have a GPS signal or not. Eg. sometimes in Toronto, with the skyscrapers which will block out a GPS signal, you would not know of your GPS Status, if all icons were present. Yeah Abb, I understand what you are saying but I believe that you didn't understand my idea of the greyed out or monochrome and unselectable icons.
  14. I second that idea, while I appreciate very much the people working on the project, it has been a long wait for us followers so it would be indeed nice to have some screen shots to share, as this will also pump up interest! Thanks.
  15. Well, don't forget that it doesn't have to be realtime, a proper installation of the AVIC is 100% powered by the car's battery all the time, so it can easily tell when the car is shutting down (in fact, when you remove your key quickly, most of the time the AVIC will shutdown only moment later). The F500 model is always having its own battery the whole time ... only the Pioneer people don't know how to code . As for the realtime logging, it should never be considered as a solution because Flash memories are bonded with limited number of write cycles, so if you write very frequently to t
  16. But I was hoping that the PS #X function of the BMP image could (when combining with scripts), instead of linking to the visiblemodel="", link to some kind of grey out function that make the icons unselectable, monochrome, let say, instead of colorful. This way the line of icons will always be full. I thought that this function is available.
  17. Abb, regarding my PM to you, is it difficult to grey out the unavailable buttons when there is no GPS, instead of make them completely disappear? I saw your #2 or #3 BMP thing with PhotoShop in the previous posts, but don't know whether they can apply to this. Sorry to bring this up all the times but I frequently lost GPS because of the underground parkings and tunnels .
  18. About the trip computer ... When you are making a long trip and you have to stop somewhere to take a rest and you surely don't want to let your car running just not to reset the trip computer. So on next power-up, the trip computer is reset! I guess that is the fundamental issue of any GPS on the market, and there is nothing that anyone can do about it, am I right? Thnaks.
  19. Just DON'T FORGET to make a complete backup of your "My Flash Disk" folder before deleting anything .
  20. You might have to delete some maps to make space. The GFX folder is some 120 MB, so with the internal 2 GB less all the maps, you are likely to run out of space.
  21. If you have access to the "About" button at the bottom of the screen, long-click on it and it will bring you to the nav screen. Another alternative would be to load a saved route, if you migrate your AVIC's saved configuration to your emulator. .
  22. Yeah, it has everything and I seems not be able to know all the hidden stuffs, like the long pressing address button.
  23. If you go into the "Saved Routes" screen (similar to the "Load Route" screen), it is perfect! No bars! I will check later.
  24. I just hope that you are only simulating or flying over, not actual speed ... however, I already see a pic of yours with >120 km/h ... be safe my friend We need you here in the forum I do like the new layout!
  25. Abb, can you please tell me whether the bar in the middle of the "Load Route" screen is intentional of is a mistake? There is also something just above the "Load Route" banner (a box). Could you tell me how to remove them? Thanks.
