  1. Whatever you may think of VBlue's statements in other threads he's not being a jerk to you in this one. He explained the issue, but the answer wasn't what you were looking for so you kept ignoring it, even I can see that. Allow me to try: There is no possible way Pioneer could have designed any part of their software 2+ years ago with the iPad in mind. Putting any kind of blame on them for this "problem" is just silly. Pioneer makes lots of stupid or otherwise incomprehensible design decisions but this isn't one of them. In any case, even if they did have access to the iPad, they still cou

    Z110BT v. X920BT

Dual zone av, 4amp pre-outs instead of 2.4, couple extra EQ settings, and the screen tilts to make it easier to touch/view if it's mounted low in your dash. The bigger screen is the real reason to get it or not, if you don't care about that you probably aren't gonna care about the rest either, especially for what is a $350-400 price difference right now. Also I'm pretty sure Al-Eds is now shipping the z120BT for $1099 w/ the coupon in this forum, so unless you can get a *killer* deal on a z110 I'd go with that - if you are set on that model, anyway. Who knows when Pioneer will actually re
  3. Mine works on 7 x64 too. You probably have the dreaded .Net error, where you have so many runtimes installed newer .Net programs - like MusicSphere - go off the deep end. You can try updating your runtimes manually - search Microsoft's site for them - but this is a hard error to troubleshoot and even harder to fix. The real question is is Musicsphere worth the effort. Whatever coolness it has is, for me, more than offset by the way it completely screws your existing playlists, by adding a million playlists of it's own all starting with MusicSphere_ . I kind of see why they had to do it
  4. How does the back up assist work on it (I know how back up assists work, I mean specifically on your vehicle). Is it the sonar kind that just beeps when you get close to something? Usually those are routed to their own little speaker. If yours is integrated in any way in to your stock OEM system you'll have to figure out how to make the correct electrical connections yourself, or pay a pretty good installer to do it for you; you aren't going to find an adapter that'll do it. In other words, it isn't going to be worth the trouble. The Z supports a back-up camera, you know. Probably cheaper
  5. The system remote wire sends the turn on signal to the amp. If you have an antenna with a separate power source that is just looking for a signal that the car is turned on you can use it for that too. Unless I am mistaken the wire harnesses between the F series and the x920bt are different. Someone like VBlue42 would know for sure.
  6. I've found VR overall to be pretty worthless for this unit anyway. I turned off the voice, turned off the catalog, and even turned off the stupid beeps and I am a happier man for it.
  7. It's not tapped right, is what's wrong. I used a T-tap myself on mine and had the same problem. You need to splice the wire in and solder or crimp it. I cut mine, used a butte connector, and crimped, and now it works fine. T-taps (vampire taps, etc) don't really work that great for all but the most basic signals - the reverse wire, for example. The VSS sends a constant signal and is very voltage-sensitive so you really want a solid connection there. I mean, it can be done, it has been done, but look where you're at
  8. Here's a picture of what happens if I hit the VR button after my phone connects if I haven't hit ok on the nav warning screen first: Once you do that everything works as normal. I suppose as fixes go this one's ok (I'm sure it's going to save Pioneer a lot of support calls) but it seems rather inelegant, and it's all because of the warning screen. I hate those stupid Nav warning screens, some dumbass lawyer dreamed them up as a layer of defense one day and now we all have to put up with them. I bet in an actual lawsuit they turn out to be worthless too, you could make a case that peop
  9. Everything depends on your local reception, that goes without saying. But Pandora, whether with the native iPhone app or this one, does an excellent job of pre-caching songs and other trickery. I listen to it every day on my 30 mile work commute (and now I get to do that with my HU!) and it's a rare day when a song skips. Sometimes a song will take a few seconds longer to load, that's about it. And this is with HQ audio enabled. They did a really, really good job with Pandora on the iPhone and PandoraLink continues that trend. Forget XM or Sirius, this is the bees knees right here.
  10. So there are a million posts all over this forum about a particular problem with the z110bt, x920bt, and (probably) z120bt (and maybe more) - the fact that if you let BT connect before hitting the "ok" button on the Nav screen your VR will act all screwy, and you'll need to re-transfer your contacts, or restart the car and make sure to hit the OK button first. Anyone who's read this forum for more than 10 minutes has heard of this bug. Only, I just finished fully installing my x920bt, and syncing my iPhone via Bluetooth, and I can't seem to duplicate this problem - I tried, just so I'd kno
  11. You're right, I was thinking of the x920 alone, not the fact that it's an "x" unit. They really should have put it under a different series or something, gotta be confusing for more than just me.
  12. One thing I am certain of is that it will be a while after the z120 hits retail, which it's only slowly started to do now. I agree with a "late summer" release myself although I have as bout as much idea as anyone else here - don't work for Pioneer. Anyway this is the PandoraLink thread, not the 100th thread on when the z110 will be updated. I liked PandoraLink a lot, although I do wish the Play/Pause buttons were bigger - they are pretty tiny on the AVIC. Also, though it probably goes without saying, you do need to have the actual Pandora iPhone app and an account to use this, it's an add

    MusicSphere

Finally got a chance to use this today. It's not very intuitive at first - I didn't realize that after taking an hour to analyze my library I then had to hit refresh to actually fill the playlists (maybe it's supposed to and this is a bug) but once I started using it it made more sense. I am not a fan at all of what it does to my playlists - basically it adds a ton of different playlists that all start with MSphere a01, b03, etc, then the name ("Feeling Bright", "gloomy", etc). In itunes this is ok because it groups all those playlists in to their own folder where you don't have to look at
  14. They work the same. It's a Pioneer issue not a remote one. Also the newer Pac's, version 1.6.8, are a lot faster. I get no lag at all with mine. And it cost me $39 on Amazon, not sure where you are buying yours.
  15. You need to get a hold of Pioneer then, doubt anyone here can help you. Sounds like you have the wrong harness.
  16. Pretty sure only Pioneer knows that answer, not any one here. Based on their track record I'd have to agree with VBlue42 although you'd think they'd gotten it by now, I mean, it's a pretty obvious bug, and it's been almost a year.
  17. It's the Blue/White cable in the power harness bundle. Should have a sticker on the end that says "remote" but maybe it fell off or someone was napping at the factory at that part of the assembly line.
  18. I wish we could get Kenwood's Garmin Nav with the new Pioneer interface. Would make for an almost perfect unit. That said I love my little x920BT, for the price I got it for ($750 from an authorized Pioneer dealer) it's pretty hard to beat. The Kenwood Nav is better but I think the interface on this, particularly the audio/iPod piece, blows the newer Kenwoods away. I wish I could upload new voices like you can on the Kenwoods though.
  19. For a $1,000+ list price system I actually was kind of hoping Pioneer wouldn't have their heads up their rears on this one yeah, I mean, it's Pioneer so I knew they would, but I still expect more for my money. Especially given how hard they are pushing these features and all the press they are getting on them. To be at this point and still not have MusicSphere working or the iPhone app even released (I don't care if it's waiting on Apple, they should have had that thing submitted months ago, I mean they demo'd it in January) kind of tees me off.
  20. I have mine on my dash, in the corner. It actually worked inside my dash sitting right on top of the radio too, but space was tight and I didn't want to put it there and find out later driving around that I had reception problems. On my dash there are no problems. I agree that putting this antenna outside the car/truck is not a great idea; it doesn't look rugged enough for the elements to me. I have a x920BT so perhaps the older antennas are different but the one I have clearly seems meant for the inside of the car. As for someone stealing it if they see it, believe me your average met
  21. F series and X series are completely different. I mean, 100%. Different hardware, different underlying software. And the x920BT is different still even from the 910bt. They should have changed the series but what can you do. You'll never get an F series to look like or run like the x series. Whether the update is worth it for you or not I couldn't say but if you're thinking it will put you a little closer to what the 920bt offers it will not. From what I understand the Nav on the F is better (better being subjective) but the interface and music features on the x920 blow it away. For me, co
  22. Yep, it's just like the Z110BT and the new Z120BT in this regard - you need the tuner. You can find them online now for around $60-80 if you look. With the end-of-life announced, you can now buy a subscription for $30 that will run until Jan 2012 when they shut it down. Not a bad deal really, considering that even with the price of the tuner factored in you would have paid nearly as much for that amount of time anyway before the shutdown announcement. It's one of those deals that's gonna get less attractive the closer we get to 2012 so if you want it I'd get it now. I don't mind them n
  23. When you go to the Google Checkout page, it'll show the list price again. There's a place below to enter a coupon code; use the same one and the price will change. I got the full $250; my unit arrived yesterday. Installing this weekend!
  24. Glad to hear it, I just ordered mine, and yes I have the Metra kit, I know the Scorce one sucks
