  1. I don't have the Z130, and I cant find the Installation Manual on-line. But it should be part of the RCA harness. That harness also has a blue/white wire which triggers external amps on/off. See the pic from ebay -> Pioneer Z130 cables This is the full cable set. The RCA connector is on the left. Funny thing is that some of the other ebay cables don't have the blue/white wire. Makes me wonder if they are knock-offs. I also can't see the labels on the RCA connectors to see which are for subs. Someone else will need to jump in here.
  2. No, that's how it works. The 30-pin is all that plugs into the ipod (and I am asssuming iPad - don't have one). The other end breaks-out into female USB and male 4-conductor mini-plug. The mini-plug actually carries the stereo audio and video. All data/control functions are through the USB. Don't confuse the mini plug with a headphone output of the ipod/pad. The Pioneer cable is line level audio. Just like you wouldn't connect the headphone-out of your DVD player to the input of your home stereo. You'd get some sound - but nowhere as good as line-level.
  3. Huhhh? The PB bypass has nothing to do with rear camera viewing. You can view the camera split-screen currently. You just need to power the camera off something other than your backup lights.
  4. You didn't say, but I assume you DO get some sound - music/radio/etc (otherwise your "professional " installer should get fired). NAV and hands-free audio is only carried on the front channels, so it sounds like like your speakers are being driven off the rear pair.
  5. Glad you finally got it working. Sometimes it takes a lot of persistence. Thanks for posting your resolution - it will encourage others who might otherwise just give-up. Also good news on the mic quality. Some people call it a BT problem, but there is nothing wrong with the BT, per se. The weak link is the mic's sensitivity and finding a good location. I think a lot depends on the noise environment in the car. Mine is sort of loud - engine/exhaust/tire noises. The mic picks up all that too. But I don't expect it to sound like I'm in my office or living room. So I have no complaints.
  6. The upgrade (either the 1.00000 from Pioneer, or the ShortFuse hack) will not install unless it is a higher version number than what is installed on the HU. My guess is (based on the fact that your version is still 1.001000) that you didn't correctly apply his replacement files. So, start from scratch. Re-download the 1.001 update. Replace the files with the same name from ShortFuse. Don't just copy ShortFuse's files onto the SD. Your SD should only have 1 folder in root (AVICZ110). If you have any other files in root of the SD, you aren't following the instructions correctly. If need be,

I doubt that the 5v power that the HU furnishes on the US cable will spin-up many hard-drives. You might get it to work with an enclosure that takes an external power supply. That is - if you can find one that will plug in to a 12v socket. You could also get a small 120v AC inverter.
  8. Run the +12v wire to the camera from the same ACC source as the HU. Route the wire along with the RCA video cable. Probably only need an 18 - 22 AWG wire.
  9. Yes, installing V2.0 (CNSD-110FM) is the whole point. So, are you saying your version is still 1.00000? If you applied the ShortFuse hack, it should be 1.002. To tell: 1. Press the "HOME" button; then touch the "Settings" tab; 2. Touch the "System Settings" tab; then touch the "Service Information" tab; 3. Press and hold the top left corner of the “Service Information†screen; 4. The "Platform version" number and the "Application version" number are both displayed -- look at the "Application Version" number, which is displayed on the second line; 5. If the versi
  10. 1.001 was a minor patch to the Z110. Fixs a few small bugs. ShortFuse's patch to 1.001 is just to circumvent the serial number validation when you install the real V2 update from Pioneer: CNSD-110FM, SD1. Its all documented in this thread. Read it.
  11. Try removing the SD card. Then reboot. Since it didn't update, the reboot time shouldn't change. That means the update didn't succeed. Did you install the ShortFuse hack? If you want help, you're going to have to provide much more info. What EXACTLY did you do? That model unit do you have? Which software US, AU or EU?
  12. BT is built-in. Nothing else needed. However, some have upgraded the factory mic. It is highly recommended (as in - don't come back complaining) to use the Pioneer ipod cable. The HU has a USB and A/V cable that not only charges the ipod, but gives you control of playback and song/video selection. The audio quality using the earphone jack on the ipod is 3rd rate. If you don't get the Pioneer ipod cable, you'll regret it. And don't bother with cheap knock-offs. More trouble than they are worth.
  13. Probably. No one can say for sure unless they also tried that A/V cable. The connectors look right. If it doesn't have proper shielding, it might pick up some noise or cause intermitant control problems. BTW I store my ipod in a storage compartment at the rear of my center console with the stock Pioneer dongle + ipod cable, and still had extra to cable to tuck/hide. But I guess it would depend on how high the HU mounts in your dash. The longer the cable, the more chance you will get quality degradation.
  14. Do you have a Z130 or 110/120?
  15. Use EQ Custom 1. It has a separate curve for each source. Custom 2 applies to all sources. See pg 173 in the Z120 manual. There are some caveats to be aware of. I might be wrong, and I couldn't find a explicitly worded statement in the manual, but it seems you need to customize each source to use Custom 1 effectively. What I mean is, if you select a non-Custom 1 setting in the current source - say "Natural" while in FM, it will be selected for all sources. So even if you set Custom 1 while playing iPod, then switch to FM and manually select "Natural", then go to any other source (including iPo
  16. Just to clarify, does your procedure only update an EU unit (F10BT) to F20BT? I'm sure you'll get lots of people wanting to convert a US Z110BT or Z120BT to an F20BT.
  17. Read this thread. Link Many vehicles have a similar issue when listening to the radio with the engine off (just ACC on), then when you start the engine - the unit reboots. In your case you could use the PAC TR-7 mentioned in that thread to set a startup delay. You could get fancy with this relay - like requiring 2 pulses, before powering-up. And/or program a shutdown delay to keep the head unit up when your ACC shuts off while cranking the starter.
  18. A couple things to try - may not be the cause of the problem - but it should help: 1. The level of each source can be adjusted from the AV settings menu. The adjustment is relative +- to the FM radio volume. You can adjust by 1st tuning to FM and setting it to a comfortable level, then switch the source to DVD - start playing then go to Settngs/AV Sound Settings/SLA (pg175 in Z120 manual). Adjust to a comparable (to FM) level. 2. I suspect the sound is just the backround noise you get from raising the volume so high. So it will likely not be noticable once you get the DVD level right. If
  19. Can't help with the phone connection. I intentionally only pair one phone in each car. His & hers. AFA language: the 1st time you used the nav, it asked you to select a language. To get TTS, you need to select "US English(Samantha):TTS". To change this you can either do a factory reset or go to Settings/System Settings/Regional Settings/Voice Language. Day and Auto are the only choices. You can't force to "Night". You would not even be able to see the display in daylight if you could. Select Auto if you want the night (dimmer) display when your headligh are ON. Else, select Day t
  20. I wouldn't enable it anyway. Who wants to hear her mis-pronounce every street name that isn't in the dictionary? I find the generic description more that adequate. My last NAV had it and I turned it off. BTW, only mention of TTS in the Z130 manual says it is only available when the language is "US English" or or "US English:Samantha:TTS".
  21. Since Pioneer's Canadian site (http://www.pioneerel.../GPS-Navigation) doessn't show the Z130, you may be out of luck. There must be some reason it isn't officially sold there. As far as RDS text, I see station info on FM, for sure. Can't say if song titles and other info i displayed, I never listen to FM. Back to RDS & TMC (traffic), from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia....ates_and_Canada) Which makes me wonder if the "free" traffic only applies to the Pionner product in the US. Also makess me wonder if this will always be "free" in the US.
  22. Well, I collected an assortment of parts I found lying around home and office (not the same part # as you used. Basically 12V SPST digital relay, a cap, and a diode. Started soldering and quiclky realized I wasn't going to make a nice neat bundle out of this. Then, I accidently broke off one of the solder leads on the relay (coil), and gave up. Then I thought, there must be some off-the-shelf solution - this application isn't that unique! So I googled "relay delay", and found the PAC TR-7. (through Amazon $19.49 linky) It does many things, and is primarily used as a parking-brake bypa
  23. An even better (and cheaper - through Amazon $19.49 linky) option is the PAC TR-7 module. It does many things, and is primarily used as a parking-brake bypass for Alpine NAV units. But is also is a relay with a programmable delay for both ON and OFF. The manual makes it look a little daunting, but many have said it isn't that complicated Manual. See feature #12. Only 4 wires are needed for this function (black, red, green, blue)
  24. Assuming you are in the US, I believe the service is carried via Clear Channel's FM station's RDS data. In which case, the following link to a Gamin description should also apply to Pioneer (see the cities listed at the bottom).:Garmin RDS Traffic
  25. Are you saying that when you touch "Settings", then "Navi Settings", then "Connection Status", you don't get a screen that says "GPS Status" that shows "Speed Pulse", "GPS Antenna", "Parking Brake", "Illumination", and "Back Status" ? What unit do you have? Here is the Z120 manual. see pg 148. It's exactly the same on the Z110. Users Manual The "Parking Brake" should say ON or Off and toggle as you disengage or engage it. Note: if PB is bypassed, it always says "On". As far as wiring, I never connected a parking brake, but here is the Z-110/Z120 (same thing) install manual. See pg 12
