  1. It doesn't ask for the second SD. That is a separate step. So I'm not following you. Wait a minute. You said it was DONE with the 1st SD, so it wasn't in the process of flashing. I don't see how shutting the unit off at that point could brick it at that point. Are you sure it is getting power now? Maybe a fuse flew? The 2nd SD has nothing to do with the Z110 - Z120 update, only Parrot BT drivers.
  2. It needs + voltage when the lights are on only. BTW, this isn't a dimmer circuit, like your dash lights. It changes between the daytime and night-time setings. They can be customized by holding the Mode button for a few seconds.
  3. That sounds like an exceptionally bad idea. Could blow out both systems. If not, the impedance would be all wrong. Never heard of two audio drivers using the same mic wired in parallel (or serial). OTOH, go ahead and tell us how it works out for you
  4. And most, if not all, factory units. Same liability issue.
  5. Then don't use Music Sphere, it isn't required. Even without it, the Z120 ipod interface is still one of the best. And, other than the lag in firing-up Music Sphere, I don't notice any objectionable lag in skipping tracks. It isn't as fast as directly using the ipod buttons, which is understandable since the touch-screen press must be validated (they screen interface must be desensitized somewhat to eliminate errant touches), and forwarded to the ipod - which also has some lag.
  6. If you haven't already, you should download and install v2.003 from the Pioneer web-site. According to Pioneer: "This firmware update (version 2.003000) contains important improvements addressing Bluetooth Hands-Free and Voice Recognition operations." Exactly what the improvements are is anybody's guess. As far as BT phone quality, I'd call mine about average. I've had worse. Don't expect it to be pristeen. About like talking on a speaker-phone in a noisey environment - which it is. If you prefer/require high quality - equivalent to a wired handset, get a good headset.
  7. Yeah, thats why it comes with a big book with an index. You aren't serious, are you? If we had a sticky thread for every setting/feature, then, you know what they'd call this site? An OPERATION MANUAL.
  8. Did you ever try the user manual? Download the PDF file so you can search quickly, instead of relying on us. Is it just the hour that is off? If so, make sure it is set for the right time zone, and the DST setting is correct for where ever you are located. You adjust by touching: Settings / System Settings / Regional Settings / Time.
  9. I don't see a bezel/cage for 2din 2002 911's. So that will take some skill and customized work. A pro should be able to handle it, but I doubt you will find a pre-made kit. As far as wiring, a CDR24 -> Z120/110 has been done many times. Check some Porsche boards. Same with the Bose integration. Some people replace the Bose amp and/or speakers. Others have made it work with the stock Bose amp (I think I recall that right). Since Bose wasn't an issue for me, I really didn't bother following those issues. Sorry, your best bet is to go to a 911 board. I like Planet-9. P 9 911 Electronics sub-f
  10. Before anyone could even begin to help, they would need to know: Exact model (Carrera, GT3..) Year Existing Head Unit (CDR24, CDR30, PCM2, PCM3..) Existing Speakers (Bose,....) Existing AMP/Sub You will need a kit including bezel, mount cage, OEM harness adapter, and depending on the above, various interfaces. I have a 2010 Cayman, so I am slightly familiar with that year's wiring and basic factory setup. Factory Bose is a costly complication (that I luckily didn't have to deal with). I'm not familiar with 911's. However, other members have installed and posted, so search
  11. You only need to extract the 1st file with WinRAR. It will know it's a multi-part archive. If you do all 4 parts individually, you WILL end up with 4 identical folders. Just choose 1 folder and delete the rest. I did the same thing and it had me confused too.
  12. It might not be a big deal for you, but a Z110-BT DVD drive will be locked to region 1 (US) in hardware. The region can't be changed with the software. So you could only play reg 1 DVDs.
  13. #1 - Can't help you there. #2 - Did you follow the Pioneer update instructions (pdf file on Pioneer web site), step 5? This has been covered here many times . To see the internal version number: Press the “HOME†key Select the “Settings†tab Select “System Settings†Select “Service Information†Press & hold left upper corner of the “Service Information†screen for a few seconds If it doesn't say: PlatformVersion: 1.001000 Application Version: 1.001000 then you didn't do it right. That is, unless you used ShortFuse's patch, in which case it w
  14. Well, the fact that my WM6.5 HTC HD2 works perfectly seems to say who's lying. But historically, BT support for the various specs and profiles is inconsistent between manufacturers. They will eventually get it sorted out. BTW, I can boot into Android (2.2.1) and play BT audio MP3s using the built-in audio player. No tags appear, but I can use the Stop/Pause and next/previous buttons to control the playback. If I could just figure out how to get my Contacts to transfer under Android, I'd run it permanently. So far, this custom port (HyperDroid) is about 80% ready. I'm lovin some of the app
  15. Yes, you're doing something wrong! How could we possibly know what with so little information. You didn't even say which update you are trying. This thread is titled "Step by step update from z110bt to z120bt". Assuming you mean the 1.001 update, start over with a different SD. Do the original Pioneer v1.0001 update first - with no modified files. If that works, install ShortFuse's files into the correct directories in the SD and do it again. With his patch, the verion should be v1.002 (or was it 1.003, can't remember). If you can't get the plain old Pioneer v1.001 to work, then: 1.
  16. Try searching for Netflix. It's been discussed before.
  17. You don't navigate through iPod menus, you use the iPod interface on the Z120. See and several other You-tube videos. That and Music Sphere is all there is.
  18. Are you saying the connectors are different? I wouldn't try changing or splicing them. If they are the same, it probably will work. Why don't you test it with the old (installed) one first. If it works, you're good! BTW, it really isn't critical, or important, where you place the antenna. Mine is under the hood (OK it's a mid-engine, so technically its in the front trunk). For a front engine, it would be like attaching it to the firewall next to the wiper motor. It works fine completely covered with the aluminiuum trunk lid.
  19. I hope you didn't pay much for that installer. Didn't he even test the system? I only have the Z110 Installation manual. On pg 12, It even shows a picture of a parking brake and a sample diagram. I'm sure the Z120 manual is nearly identical. Are you sure you aren't looking in the User's Guide? You can download the Installation Manual from Pioneer. If you are going through all that, you might as well do the bypass youself. It is well documented here and even You Tube has videos.
  20. There is both a limitation on the number of directories (300) and the number of files (2500) regardless of the SD size. See the Appendix Media Compatability Chart. There are also likely limitations on the file name format. I'm sure it is more restrictive than Windows.
  21. Yes, and that is a point of confusion, especially when they connect it to the dash light dimmer circuit. You can't "dim" the AVIC along with your dash/instruments. You can only toggle between the day and night settings (which can be customized by holding the Mode button).
  22. There is no "dimmer" wire, but connect the Orange/White wire to a circuit that is +12v when your lights are ON. This controls the day/night display on the HU. If you have Daytime Running Lights enabled, this can be a problem on some cars. I had to disable mine cause the HU always thought it was night. As far as the rest, why don't you check your Installation Manual, or download it from the Pioneer web-site. And as homework, make a list of all the other wires. Then post it here.
  23. This update is very simple. Assuming your files are not corrupt, which I doubt, then it must be something you are doing wrong. Since I can't tell from your post, why don't you spell out, in precise detail, exactly the steps you did to create your SD card. You can leave off the download and unzipping part. Your SD should have one, and only one, directory in the root: \AVICZ110. This should contain: Directory of SD \AVICZ110 <DIR> APL <DIR> BOOT <DIR> FONTS <DIR> PLATFORM EU090APL.HTM EU090APL.VER EU090BOT.HTM E
