Couple problems with VSS reading and tracking...
MisFit replied to BDiddy's topic in Problems/Troubleshooting
im not talking about the speed pulse. im talking about the actual speedometer in the guages screen. no, it has nothing to do with the speed sense. it is dead on without the speed sense hooked up at all. maybe thats not what he was talking about, but he said it read 156 mph. the speed pulse does not give a reading in mph. its just a number and does not coincide with your actual speed. so, forgive me if i misunderstood his question, but it was worded a bit confusing -

Speed Sense dk.green/white ECM The ECM (Engine Control Module) is located near the battery, down low, between the fender and the fan under the black plastic cover. On the 4.3L, the VSS wire is at pin 3 in the connector labeled black. On the 4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L, the VSS wire is located in pin 50 of the red connector.

it doesnt matter. the speedometer doesnt get its info from the vss wire -
if they are factory headrests, your probably out of luck. if they are aftermarket , you need to follow that cable to the control module. there will be regular a/v inputs there

do you have a picture of a steering wheel?
-
no, it had regular a/v jacks on one end. the other end had the ipod plug and the phono plug. using both together with the a/v inputs on the back of the unit worked
