  1. Used the unit during quite a lot of driving today, using the cigar lighter for power, an iPod for tunes and the aux input to the car's radio output from the F500BT's headphone jack. I noticed I was getting silence interruptions but no audio commands, either on Jason or Samantha, with the nav volume turned up most of the way. Do the NAV commands NOT get sent via the headphone jack or is something else going on? Thanks. My buddy liked your screens a lot, too; "lots of information, but not cluttered". I would like a one-press button to switch from the main Nav screen to the AV source
  2. Cool, I think. I wanted to do a SIM run to try it out on my 2nd F500BT, but cannot find it. The rest looks like a huge improvement over what Pio offers with Ver4.0. I used testmode to update to the 2010 maps, POIs and SpeedCam from my other F500BT. Want them? I did not change to the newer EZrider. Thanks, dude, so much!

    FX 3.1?

Not real experiencved with it, but I just installed it okay on mt F500BT. I wanted some features not available on 2.006
  4. Not sure it it will apply, but on the F500BT, select the option by holding down the RESET button. Selecting options is done with a quick press of it, reportedly (I didn't have to do that). Good luck; keep trying.
  5. Got it, as written on that thread. Thanks so much!!!!!!!!!
  6. Thanks. Working on this. Using a 16Gb SD card from MicroCenter. The card seems to work fine. I have 4 SD cards, so the difficult part is keeping them all straight!, especially with changing contents! Okay. Did the backup and the rename of sys.txt (I had two listings, same size and name, one minute apart in time. The first did not work but the second seemed to. On step 3 (Reset + PWR) I t never shows the blue service screen, initially, ust black. (The boot seems okay, with the button lights coming on, until the shutdown. I never get to the key sequence or any further.) After 3-
  7. Restored the utils and the Pio startup, but not much function on unit 2. Unit 1 is fine with these maps and FW, but the Pio directions suffer locally in the F500BTt as well as the D3. The POIs leave a LOT to be desired as does the digital voice commands. It also needs the mods I read about in 3.1. I'll install them after I get more comfy with practice on unit two.
  8. Did you use a different source for the files or this Euro link. I got an error msg trying the 3.0 but 2.007 wanted to update. I was going to copy all the other (US) files from a backup, but was concerned that the .007 update would cause problems..
  9. Wow. I am encouraged that there is an F500BT version. Now, with my OS acting up (I think) if I could get 3.0 or later to install, I'd be off and running. A prior attempt did not work due to the F500 not having the eject button for the process. Anyone know where I can find the process? Thanks.
  10. Has anyone installed 3.0x on the F500-BT? This one: 3.0 Sticky I can easily get into testmode and copy the files over, but ver 3.o installation with the push/hold button sequence is not possible with no <eject> button. I am copying the files to see if it will work with 2.0006, but believe I read that it will not. This is a second unit, the first having Ver 4.0 with 20120 maps. Thanks in advance.
  11. Has anyone had success doing this on the F500BT? If so: 1- how is the initial boot done to get to installing CE, because the 500 does not have an eject button. 2- what are the key strokes (up-up-down, etc.) Still trying combinations of the above. Getting into test mode is easy. Seems I read that 3.0 is required to run the rest, not 2.0006.
  12. Rather, a societal ailment, not unique to this forum. I find it sad that the guys who really help and work this forum get burned out so that we new guys are befuddled for too long. Ahh.. What goes around.....
  13. Welcome.. prepare to spend some hours searching and learning. Learn how and backup FIRST!
  14. Nope. Not there. I had checked and rechecked just now. Only the 5.99 mb size and the date modified of 5/19/2010. It probably comes up when run, but I cannot run it. With TestMode Ver 2.3 I seem to have lost the utility programs I had and the copy screen is new, replacing the WinDoz desktop I had. Thanks for the help.
  15. Sttep and frustrating, indeed! If I could only find out which version of iGo... EZRider is dated 5/29/10. Is that 8.3.2? I'd like to change the 500 to FW 3.01, but am having problems finding and d/l it. I am not crazy about paying 10 Euros for the privilege of trying to d/l files that may not even work. Thanks.
  16. While new, I am learning and eager to get going on this, with the Second F500BT I bought. First, I need Ver3.0 which would not fully d/l from the posted site. Then I will work my way into the emulator, et. al., which I already have Thanks for your long lasting help and the the hours you put into helping all of us.
  17. Depending on your decompression utility, you can opt where to save the extracted files. Ensure you copy the entire TestMode and MITACAP folders to the root directory of the flash drive. I use either a toothpick or the plastic end of a Cross pen for a stylus in CE. The desktop will appear familiar yet I have found no way to right click and there are some differences for dragging, etc. as you will quickly see. The keyboard is accessed via the icon on the right end of the taskbar. Do not (ask how I know) have the taskbar hide. You will probably want to calibrate the screen; in the Contr
  18. Chuck. Thanks for all your hard work. I got a second F500 BT to play with and learn. I have no illusions of getting to the level you exhibit but having just found the snapshots, reviewed same, I am very impressed. I hav em=limited time witht he first F500BT but really like the screen and the touch response. It has the Pioneer V4 with 2010 maps. The second unit now only boots into CE via testmode (running 2.006) as I messed up the Pio software. Once I learn how to get the FW updated, I can move forward with your exciting package. I am going to try to get MSN going soon.
  19. RU sure your power supply delivers enough current for the unit? The light changes make me ask, but I'd think the fan speed would change as the lights vary.
  20. I have two of these, both 'new' and BOTH came with every cable, and then some, including the cable I think you refer to. He's less than truthful, IMHO. There is a free online update from Pioneer for the Firmware and BT. The pdf file that has the instructions will tell you how to look at yours to see if they are already installed. Maps, are a more difficult issue, at least for me so far. The learning curve has proven to be steep and difficult due to the relatively few guys here who deal with (mod) the F500, which apparently not 100% compatible with others in the series.. I opted (
  21. I bought a second unit , for learning and probable in another car use. The Pio SD cards would not allow an update due to password; big surprise. The 2010 maps may not work with FW earlier than 4, but I am messing with this other one; just short of bricking it. Methinks I will try to do the hacks from here, like FW3+, etc. Also, I figured out how to bring up the keyboard, but have nothing to type, yet. Ihad been able to find it in the Control Panel (properties only) but only after a few calibrations of the screen was I able to click the taskbar icon, activating it. Still looking
  22. got them from a guy here and they work. for the cost of two DL disks and a few mistakes, it was well worth it.. Bonus: the added documentation on use and recovery.
