  1. I have a DVD burner in my computer (Dell) but do not know if it is a dual layer burner. How do you tell? The burner tray will have the letters DL printed on it. For example, mine says "DVD+R DL"
  2. Someone else here mentioned the need to still be able to use the mute in a Lincoln. He added another wire with pin to the original mute wire slot and connected there (in addition to the mute wire grounded in the new location). According to him, the bypass still worked.
  3. The pictures say it all! But if you need notes, tell me which picture you need notes on and I'll explain. The bypass is simple and can be done after the technician installs it. Just be sure you disconnect your battery before attempting. You could also do the bypass first and tell the technician to simply not connect the parking brake wire. Since you would have moved the mute wire and grounded it with the parking brake already, he could install all the rest as normal and you'll have no problems.
  4. Will he be my bestest friend for eva?? lol Feels like I'm a kid again.
  5. The parrot looks cool and all, but I would give the CD-BTB200 bluetooth module a shot. Mine works really well, autoconnects, automatically mutes/pauses music, and after the call is done, it turns the music back on. It isn't hard to install at all.
  6. The FIRST thing I did (even before I installed the D3) was to make backup copies of those DVD's. The originals are in my house and I use nothing but the backup copies in the car. You're best bet now is to get one on eBay or find a friend to make you a copy.
  7. There is a round gray hole for it. It's the only one the gps antenna will fit into. You shouldn't have to re-pin the mute wire if you removed it correctly. If the pin came off, then you yanked it out instead of releasing the plastic clip holding it in. Look at my flash gallery in the sig below.
  8. As an added tip, the ports should be color coded. Start from the head unit and plug in the cable according to the colors on each end.
  9. Before you get too jumpy, you should note that the CD changers work fully, but not the DVD changers.
  10. Yeah, it was mentioned. It's on the flash gallery tutorial. Thanks for reminding those that may have been having problems.
  11. It's a really good deal! I am glad I found this before I bought. Now bypass that thing when it gets in and join the club!
  12. Yeah, I'm with cntrylvr79 on this one. Don't screw with your $800-$1000 radio. Just cover it up or something. Then when you are ready to upgrade in a few years, you'll have a fairly decent radio to sell and not some acid stained, plastic warped oem looking radio.
  13. I'm with progressive here. They cover up to $1000 in "custom equipment". Anything you need over that costs extra.
  14. Page 66 in the manual. Lists dimensions for the pic and how to load it. You do NOT have to put 20 pictures in there as some people state. You DO have to burn a minimum of 1.8mbs.
  15. Have you tried resetting it? Does this happen with and without the NAV disk in?
  16. I think it will.. I usually burn +R rather than -R. I'll have to test that out for ya.

    Avic-D3 Hacks

Only if she "doesn't yank it"!
  18. All this does is scare the people You have this same kind of risk any time you mod an electronic device. Take Xbox's for example. Early mods worked fine, then MS banned them. They found a way around, and MS kept trying. And now with the 360, the DVD firmware hack could be detectable by MS and the machine banned again. It's all cat and mouse. Pioneer wants to sell units. They don't care if you bypass it. Most all nav units can be bypassed by grounding the parking brake wire. So, until it happens, I wouldn't sweat it.
  19. Yeah, put the nav DVD in and run through the setup. Once you do that, the start up with shop demo never comes on again. It will just turn on, show the pioneer logo, and a few seconds later, will show the map and ask you to press ok on their warning (gotta cover their asses)
  20. Yeah, sorry about that. I mentioned that in the gallery but it cut off some of the text. You need to ground the wire that is moved AND the green parking brake wire. To ground: attach both wires to the big black ground wire. Then either attach that to the metal of your car (scrape off any paint) OR if your harness has a ground connection, you can cut off the spade connector and connect it there.

    AVIC D3

Crutchfield says a lot of things. They orginally said it wouldn't fit in my 2003 Mustang, but guess what, it does. Your best bet is to search Metra's website for an install kit for your truck. If that doesn't work, try some Tundra related forums. I've been truck shopping for some time now... Doesn't the Tundra have some funky sized oem stereo setup? I've looked at so many now I don't remember. **Update** It was the Taco I was thinking of... Really odd looking OEM stereo:
  22. Sorry. Guess I missed that chapter (way too far back in the manual for me). On the 3D map thing: There isn't a real 3D version, but there is one that simulates a Driver's View. (for those that are counting, that's page 35 of the manual). The only way I can describe it is to imagine you have a map in front of you, hold the flat at eye level then tilt it slightly so you can see the roads. Then imagine you are driving along the map. That's how it looks. I'm not a fan of Driver's View myself but I'm sure someone is.
