  1. Yeah $450 sounds on par for that. Ask them before hand to make sure they hook up VSS, reverse and illumination (not dimmer). When they try and tell you you don't need them, tell them that you want it done anyway. Then when they are done, go into the connection status menu and verify they are all connected
  2. So Just to clarify, If I buy your HD and put it in my Z2, I have to do NOTHING else right? Just load my music in it, right? Also, for all you guys who are stripping out screws, try a #0 phillips like someone mentioned, but also, before trying to remove the screws, give them a slight turn to the right (tighten). I do this on alot of cars' screws that use locktite. It breaks the screw free from the locktite, and you can unscrew it very easy without stripping the head. Keep in mind you don't need to tighten it much at all, just turn to the right until you feel it move the slightest bit, t
  3. According to that site, the part numbers are as follows: 06-07 Sedans: 08B06-SDA-101A and instructions 03-07 Coupes and 03-05 Sedans:08B06-SDA-100 I don't know why the part numbers are the way they are or why the instructions are only listed for the sedan, but I can't imagine it being different on the coupe. Also, don't take my word for it on the part numbers when you order, Call the 800 number on their site, they are very knowledgable! Even if you need a part that they don't list on their site, they can get it for you, just ask!
  4. It can be done. If you want to put it where the factory deck is, it is rather involved. The easiest thing to do is to get a part from the dealer called an "audio attachment" (you can get it cheap from www.bernardiparts.com). It is used to mount OEM tape players, CD changers, etc. where the storage compartiment currently is. It comes with brackets and a trim piece. (no instructions, but you can dl the pdf from the above website) The opening is slightly larger width-wise than the Z1/2/3 but a little fab work can fix that. (much less work than installing the unit in the factory location) Ju

    GPS antena

well according to MECP standards, you are supposed to put it on your dash. that is why they supply you with a metal square to stick on your dash. since there are multiple GPS satellites, and GPS signals are pretty strong, the antennae do not need to be mounted externally, just line of sight to the sky. It will go through glass, plastic, etc. just not metal. Make sure you use the square they give you, since it provides a ground plane for the antenna. I personally have mine under the plastic dash pad, sitting on top of a large metal structural brace in my dash, so you don't see it, and it w
  7. is it a factory sub or aftermarket?
  8. Its not the Mute wire... its your parkbrake wire. The light green wire.... make sure thats in all the way and make sure its grounded properly. Jason way to know what you are talking about... the bypass involves grounding 2 wires, the parking brake, and the mute wire (which has been removed, and reinserted in a different slot)
  9. [broken english]I am knowing english good, so fucked you white devel! fag just want to know how i'm get N4 insted of going sckool. i haat white peeple.[/broken english] hook on fonix
  10. Did you reset or unplug the D3? If you did reset it (or unplugged the harness), and you have the power antenna wire as your amp turn on, then you need to go into the system menu and switch it back. I think it is called 'ant ctrl' and it should be on 'power' try that...
  11. don't hook it up to a lead that feeds the dash lights, they are dimmer wires, not illumination wires, the voltage fluctuates with the dimmer switch on those wires. If you connect to the parking light wire that I stated, it will work. That wire reads 0 when the parking lights are off, and 12+ when they are on. When your headlights are on (high or low) the parking lights are also on, so your avic will not get brighter when you don't want it. It should also work with auto lights, but just test the wire to see if it automatically goes to 12+ when your auto lights turn on, if so, you are all se
  12. sounds like a communication error/programming error with the GMOS, but either way, you can simply hook up the ill wire from the AVIC to the parking light wire in the car, not the one on the radio harness. The parking light wire is brown, in the driver's kick or @ BCM(BCM is part of the fuse box below the glove box), Connector 3, pin A7. Either one will work, just go to the one that is easier to get at. As always, test the wire before connecting to it. HTH

    Navi Issues

the 45 degree angle is because of the mounting angle of the Z2, it will calibrate and adjust for that, mine did... The fact that it takes you off course alot leads me to think that you did not connect VSS and/or the GPS antenna is in a poor location. check the connection status on those and post results.
  14. lt. green wire @ ECM(The ECM is behind the glove box), second plug from top, pin 17 **The VSS wire is also lt. blue at the amplifier under the passenger side rear seat.
  15. yeah, sorry about the backlash, I just hate internet tough guys and people that have to be condescending to make themselves feel better. I will try and play nice! I know motorola makes bt kits, I install them. he said 'older motorola hands free kit' which to me is like the ones you have to put your phone in a cradle, etc. I know that if you have a motorola, parrot, etc. BT kit, and THEN you buy the avic, it would be nice to interface the 'old' kit, but honestly, if you are spending the money for a navi unit that is BT compatible, take full advantage, and spend the extra few bucks.
  16. my bad on the guide on wire, but you don't have to be a condescending prick about it... and if you have an older motorola hands free kit, you need to get with the times... does your phone look like zach morris'?
  17. nope, not important... guide on is for an external navi unit (no idea why it is on the AVIC...) antenna control is used as an output to your power antenna turn on (or amps, if you change the setting in the menu, but pointless to use, since the AVIC has a wire specifically for the amp turn on) mute is for an aftermarket car phone kit, but pioneer makes their own too, which does not need to connect to that wire, so again, another pointless wire... The only usefull thing about this wire would be if you wanted to install a toggle switch to mute your radio quickly...
  18. On most cars, I just pop out the tail light, check the wire colors (usually the non-black wire, but test it anyway) there. Once I know what color it is, I pull up the driver's sill plate, and test the wires running to the front that are the same color until I find it. Only car I could not do that with so far was an RSX cuz the harness runs up the center console, which was easy to get too.
  19. yes, there is an icon on the right side that looks like a piece of paper, you need to go to the album you want to change, and when the song list appears, click on the 'previous folder' icon, THEN click the paper icon, self explainitory from there! HTH
  20. I saw that thread, and it is not the same thing. His is still an N2 board, and you can see the contact points are ground down. I will try and get him to post pics.
  21. they would! I know... If it was my unit, I would have pics, but it is not mine. I will call him up, and ask him to take pics...
  22. A friend of mine sent his N2 to pioneer for repairs, and they sent him back a refurbished one, but the problem is the R197 contacts are not there. They look like they have been ground off, and putting solder on there to connect what used to be the contacts does nothing. Any ideas, or possible solutions to this?
  23. 03 tahoe? If it does not have onstar or bose, My install rate would be about $225 parts and labor. If it does have bose/onstar The harness is an extra $100 so $225-$325 depending on the vehicle. Also, I will never bypass a screen for a customer, cuz I know how stupid some people are. Instead I tell them that I cannot do it, but I give them the link to this site so they can do it themselves, or have someone who does not mind the risk of going to jail for a few bucks/make a stranger happy. A local installer was charged with something to the effect of involuntary vehicular homicide when a ki

  25. sorry guys, I went from an N1 to a Z2, and I did not realize that you could do it that way. I just read the manual and found it. Thanks anyway!
