  1. It doesn't sound like it was that "professional" of an install. You can go into the menu and change the ant control to always on. It will work like the remote turn-on.
  2. I've heard of some complants about the Z2's nav on here, but haven't had one of my customers complain yet. The Z2 may be a little too much radio for you if you're not going to use the nav. I love mine, but maybe I'm just smart enough to know it's telling me the wrong directions. 2% rule. Look at the VMOD from Vizualogic. It can be added to any A/V radio or monitor. 40 gig harddirve, wi-fi, audio, video, pics and nav w/ a seperate module. http://www.vizualogic.com/vmod.html
  3. Only the Z1 beeps. The Z2 will not beep like the older AVIC's did. Watch for the speed sense counter to increase.
  4. You can also shave off the alignment tab on the Pioneer XM tuner's ant input(pink plug, tab is in the shape of a triangle). This will allow you to keep the factory ant plug intact and it fits more secure.
  5. What does it say next to "Learning Status". If it's "2D Hybrid", then your VSS is not connected correctly. The 3D bar measures the changes in altitude. It took almost 2000 miles for mine to fill completly. A few trips to the mountains and the beach.
  6. The GM changer will not work with the AVIC. And you're right that all the Denali's came with the changer. The AVIC will not be able to control the sub independently from the rest of the speakers, only w/ the EQ. Be sure to set all of the factory audio controls to zero before removing the radio. All of the settings are stored in the Bose amp.
  7. Yes. Tape off the mute wire in the metra harness and ground the parking brake wire & mute wire you have moved.
  8. I really have no clue. I know it's got the GPS on it but I have not read a thing about it yet. I guess there is no sense of connecting the Mute wire from the GMOS-04 harness to the Mute wire on the Power Harness because I'm grounding it anyway for the bypass..? Sorry, I was asking tblazin22s. I perfer to use onstar interfaces that mute the radio verses turning it off b/c of the lag in rebooting the radio after the onstar call has ended. Also, make sure you move the mute wire to the empty spot before grounding it or the radio will stay muted all the time and not by-passed.
  9. Does your radio mute or turn off? I'm not as familiar w/ the metra pieces, but the Periheral will allow you to mute the radio when on-star activates or turn the radio off if it's not equipped w/ a mute wire.
  10. The mute wire in the Metra harness is for muting the radio when on-star is activated. You don't need to use this wire since you don't have on-star. The parking brake wire in the metra harness would be used if you were installing the AVIC "correctly", non by-passed. In the AVIC harness, gound the parking brake wire and the mute wire you've moved to complete the by-pass.
  11. On the Z series you can change the video output to show what is being displayed on the headunit. This setting is called "mirror". You don't have this feature on the D3.
  12. Go to "system settings" under "AV Menu". Change the ANT CNRL to power and not tuner. It sounds like you have a factory amp that needs to be turned on.
  13. I'm not sure on the Mariner, but you may need to buy the factory navigation radio bezel and then use the kit for replacing the factory nav. This is what is required on the Dodge RAM and Charger. Check with Mercury parts to see if the bezel is avalible.
  14. Sorry, the two can't be intergrated.
  15. You loose the rear audio controls in the GM SUV's when you replace the fac radio. Sorry, no interface either. A small price to pay for such a great radio.

    Z1 or Z2

Other than software there is no difference between the two.
  17. You can always get an add-on DVD drive and connect it to the A/V input of the D2.
  18. No, it dosn't play DVD's. No mod for it either.
  19. Or for some of the Pioneer A/V headunits that need a pulsed, then constant grd on the parking brake wire to by-pass.
  20. The 07 NBS Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Yukon XL, Escalade and the 08 H2 are now LAN. The H3 has stayed Class 2 Bus. Have done two H3's this week. An AVIC-Z2 in a 07 H3 and an AVIC-D3 in a 06 H3.
  21. Look on the A/V source screen on the right hand side, second row down. There is a buton that allows you to change the rear output. It toggles between DVD, Aux, and Mirror.
  22. Make sure that the grey GPS ant plug is firmly seated into the radio.
  23. All the H3's are class 2 bus. They use the same interfaces as the 03-07 H2's. The Per GMAH24B workes well. What problems we're you having?
  24. That was not an option June 1st I'm not sure what you're asking. But, my Z2 will let me change the spash screen. The Z1 to Z2 upgrade should give you this option too.
