  2. The reason you have to use the Ipod for full control on videos is an Apple firmware feature, NOT a Pioneer firmware fault. Pain in the ass, but doable once you get used to it. Hit "VIDEO" in the upper right hand corner of the D3 when in Ipod source, then go to Ipod and scroll to movie choice and play. Make sure in Settings > TV out is turned on, and NTSC for the signal.
  3. The CD-IB100II is STILL used for the Avic Z2/Z3 models. It is a current piece. They weren't selling at all when they first came out, they were over$100 at first 2 years ago, so Pioneer dropped production to nil. Then when Ipod hookups became the rage last year, they dropped the price to about $50 or less, and all the stock got bought up. And yes, this is also the only "retro" Ipod adapter for older P-bus models as well. Pioneer has ramped up production again on this piece, but they are being snapped up at an overwhelming rate. I am a Pioneer dealer, and my distributor just got some sto
  4. I was referring to the DVD movie watching in that statement.
  5. Not exactly true, they make SOME of the Ford/Lincoln models, some are still made by Eclipse, some are still made by Visteon. However ALL navs have a lockout where you cannot enter in a destination or address while driving. Vehicle must be parked and parking brake on in order to do those functions. So basically they use the same lockdown as the aftermarket DVD units. Unless it has one of the new voice activated units like the AVIC Z2. Ford has the Expedition and Lincoln Navigator so far as the only ones in their line with voice activation, with which you can verbally input addresses
  6. Let me put it to you this way: 6 weeks ago I attended Pioneer Tech training on new products at my local distributor. They had 40 sales/installers there, our Regional Pioneer Product Specialist, the Pioneer Western Zone Technical Specialist, and the Regional Pioneer sales rep. They were showing the entire new Pioneer lineup, but then focused on NAV. The big thing for them was the new D3, a low price point, DVD capable, and Ipod ready. We touched briefly on Z2 and updated mapping features, but that was about it. After the presentation, we got into some conversations, and came to f
  7. The VSS wire is used to make calculations to your location when proper GPS signal is not available. Basically, if you are driving down a road surrounded by mountains, and lose GPS signal from the minimum of 3 satellites, it will use the VSS signal to keep you car moving on the map properly, until it receives valid GPS signaling again. They also incorporated using the VSS signal to better improve the Vehicle Dynamics Screen, for more accurate information on the speedometer, acceleration, and lateral-G indicators. It's just another part of the mathematical equation for better accuracy.
  8. Please note that on most newer Pioneer units, you can "adjust" your location a bit while stopped and parked, to help aid in this calibration a bit more. It's under the menu marked as "Modify Location" I use an AVIC-88 and AVHP6400DVD in one of my rigs and it's neglible now, but I have had a Z1 and now a Z2 in my other rig, and its spot on for me. Just go to a known intersection location, stop, put on parking brake, go to menu and modify your location on the screen to where you think your car SHOULD be on the screen. And yes, this works out better in the long run if you have your VSS
  9. This happens with ANY Pioneer AV unit. The problem is that Pioneer doesn't ground their shielding for the AV inputs inside the unit on the circuit board. No one knows why. I have even asked Pioneer Tech about this, they say it's a known problem. The SIMPLE solution is to ground the outer shield of the RCA inputs. Either solder a 16-18ga. piece of wire to the outer shield of your cable, and ground it to the radio's ground wire, or CAREFULLY slice open just the outer shield of the cable, pull up some of the braided wire outer shielding, and solder a 16-18 ga. wire to that, and ground it
  10. Sorry, you are right, I phrased that wrong, it will not 3D Hybrid, but instead will eventually switch to Simple Hybrid.
  11. You want to use the Blue/White System remote/amp turn-on lead. The Blue wire is for Power antenna circuits only, hence it only powers your amps when the tuner is on.
  12. 18 year installer here, Pioneer dealer as well. I have confirmed with Pioneer Tech as of last week, that no VSS connection will cause the 3D calibration NOT to work. Once the VSS is connected, it will restart calibration, but if not, the right/left turn gyros will never calibrate. Will post more info as I glean it, I have many reps and insiders looking into this. I currently have a Z2 in my demo vehicle, but almost wish I got my Z1 back from the customer I sold it too....
