  1. yes the scion does have an amplified antenna. if you look at the wire thats taped to the antenna plug, thats it. it needs to be connected to the blue wire on the avic. if you used a harness to plug into the factory one, then there should be a blue wire to connect it to. if you cut the factory plug then you need to trace that wire to the one connected to the antenna. thats what i remember from a scion tc and xb, dont know bout the xa or xd
  2. i believe that the bluetooth update had a fix for the blackberry but not 100 percent sure. my lg voyager didnt need it so i didnt mess with it. i think that there were 2 different bluetooth updates and it depended on what type of phone you had.
  3. the xm antenna needs to be on the outside with a view to the sky to get the best reception possible. many have mounted it on the dash with no problems, but it depends on how many repeaters are in your area and how well the signal can reach the dashboard. for the parking brake....look under the hacks and mods section and there are sticky threads on how the bypass the f series units. reverse signal is only needed if you have a back up camera on the 920xm module, you can hook the yellow up to the constant that the 700 is connected to. it only pulls like 1 amp of power. 4. 2 year warranty and 4 volt preouts instead of 2. Not worth the extra $500+ IMO It is not that much of a difference $162 (when i bought) for the step between the 700 and the 90. You get a ipod adapter $50, 4v preouts (can't put a price on sound clarity), faster boot up, extended warranty $100 and 3d landmarks. Worth it if you ask me. Catch me if you can is just trying to justify buying the lesser of the two units because he can't afford a 90 . the 90 doesnt have faster boot up times. i have the 90 and its the same boot up as the 700 and 900.
  5. well yeah true there is an av2 input but i guess it all depends on if you want a wire in front of the radio or not.
  6. the f90bt comes with the pioneer usb ipod cable. the old style box one you had for the d2 doesnt work correctly with it. either he swiped your ipod cable that came with the90bt or he didnt install it and left it in the box. you will need a splitter in order to run ipod and the ps2. you will need to select ipod or video on the av menu screen if you want to use one or the other. pop in the owner's manual disc and look up the install instructions for connections and you'll see how the ipod cable connects.
  7. yes you can run a y splitter. i did that on my friends stang with his d3. but you need to adjust the amp for the 12s in order to keep everything balanced. in the end it was better to just use the 12 in subs and not the 8s from the shaker system b/c you couldnt even hear them.
  8. you need at least 50 posts in order to post in the classifieds forum...that's why it says you are "unauthorized"
  9. ive run into this issue before as well. it seems that the standard pioneer radios will accept those smart tuners, but the video units will not. you have to use the pioneer branded one. its weird and sucks but they must code them differently in order for the vid units to recognize them.
  10. yes, thats your subwoofer popping. ford amps use 6 volts to turn on and when it gets 12 volts it causes it to pop. the 1k ohm resistor b/t the amp turn on lead on the avic and the amp turn on lead on the harness to the amp fixes this
  11. yeah it is easy to fix. you need to find out where the power lead to the camera is and run the new accessory wire to it. so pull out the radio, tag a wire to the red wire on the z and run it all the way to the back up camera. find where the camera's power wire is tapped into and disconnect it and connect the new wire run from the radio to the camera's power wire.
  12. yes i have a 2007 mustang. i soldered the vss. very easy. just pull the wire out of the loom a little to give it a loop that allows you to get the soldering iron under the wire. i ran the entire wire in split loom as well so it looks completely factory. even if you did sell the car, you can just leave the wire there. do a good job on the install and make it look as factory as possible and there will be no problems. the red t tap is technically the correct sized t tap but a lot of the time they have that problem of not completely cutting through the insulation.
  13. the camera power wire is wired to the reverse light instead of an accessory source. so the camera only turns on when you go into reverse. you need to wire it up to the accessory power that your radio gets to turn on.
  14. yes i have the same problem as well. looks like theres a bug in the update. it works for me after i go to my contacts screen and call by manually selecting a contact and calling. then after that my VR works. and it used to work on the map screen and the av screen but not anymore until i place a call manually.
  15. um the blue t tap is for thicker wires. the red is the smallest one. the higher the number, the thinner the wire is. please dont use t taps. theyre not good connections for anything under the hood. use solder!!!!!! much better connection and it wont come loose or have intermittent connection problems like you're having.
  16. its about an 18 awg. the wire is in the engine compartment on the passenger side of the car near the head light. its on the pcm....blue/yellow.
  17. no theyre stored on there and wont be erased.
  18. thats the wire needed on the f150. same one i used on my 06 f150 when i had my d3 and d2 in there. try resetting the unit. the units need a reset after the initial install.
  19. sounds good! happy halloween too! let me know how it works out!
