  1. ive noticed this with a lot of toyotas and lexus where we use the 20 dollar analog toyota amp harness. engine noise like crazy. the d3 only has like 2 to 2.5 volt preouts...pretty low actually. most high end head units have at least 4 volt preouts to increase signal strength and also cut down on noise. i did this once on an 06 tundra with the jbl......i used the integrator and instead of using the rcas out of the headunit, i used a premium amp interface that connected the speaker leads from the head unit and converted them to rcas. basically a 4 channel line out converter. on it, there were 4
  2. on the 06 you dont need an antenna adapter. ford started putting in the different antenna plugs in 07.
  3. you only need the main harness and the small mach amp plug. you dont ned to connect the plug you pointed to in the picture. just leave it unplugged. you wont have a problem.
  4. i dont believe the n4 disc will work at all. it not the same as the n1-n3.
  5. our pioneer rep gave us the new pioneer model brochures and the z3 is in it...its bad ass....looks like the z2 and z1, but it has 3d mapping where itll actually show a 3d representation of a building such as a capitol building or something. not sure yet on the release date. i didnt personally talk with the pioneer rep, but just found the stack of brochures on my tool box at work.
  6. if they cant get it out, then if they can have it then you cant have it....theyll probably smash in the screen or something
  7. i have a gt/cs (cali special) premium coupe...theres a switched wire back there...thank goodness ford hasnt gone that route..yet
  8. i believe its a blue/yellow wire at the pcm in the engine compartment on the passenger side near the front. i have an 07 gt as well, and on the stangs, the vss and illumination wires arent behind the radio...theyre a computer signal that feeds that to the radio.
  9. thats what theyre supposed to charge....i dont think ive ever charged it when i install an ipod cable tho....i think its ridiculous to pay 18 bucks for that, but im just telling you what they may charge. on mine i just took that one plate on the left side of the console and cut a notch in it and ran it in..i left the line in plug alone.
  10. i know for a fact that best buy doesnt take them. i work there and we're not in their network. on your car, the basic install on a d3 is 99.99, sirius adapter is 51.99, ipod, 17.99, and bluetooth is 34.99.....thats what we charge anyways. i have an 07 gt with shaker 500 and installed all the same things. it sounds great!
  11. you can use the n1, n2, or n3 brain...they all work the same.
  12. the d3 does not have auto illumination like the d1 and d2 does. on the newer chevys, there is no illumination wire behind the radio...its controlled through the data bus wire. on those i usually hook up the d3 to the headlight switch because of the daytime running light feature on these cars. that way when the headlights are on at night, the d3 will dim and not during the day. only problem is that if you go to the light switch on a lot of chevys, the wire is a negative trigger wire, so you would have to use a relay to reverse polarity.
  13. you need to register your phone with the bluetooth in order for it to auto connect. after you connect the phone, go to menu----then to function-----then to phone register----then hold down the first preset till your phone is saved in it. then it will auto connect.
  14. check the connection plug on the camera. i have heard that the audiovox reverse cameras have a problem with the plug....many people have just cut that plug off and soldered the connections together and the problems were gone. either that or just exchange the camera.
  15. the bluetooth modules are weird. mine constantly kicks my phone off and then will sometimes reconnect, but most times wont. i never had problems with my parrot in my old truck, but the pioneer one constantly disconnects the phone...weird. i guess they rushed the development of this one in order to get it out for the d3
  16. i installed one in an 07 liberty....it has roughly the same sized opening. LOTS of cutting to the dash!!!! i would have preferred to fiberglass it, but the customer didnt want to wait more an 4 hours. i cut out roughly about an in and a half...if not more to the dash piece in order to get the d3 to fit. i wouldnt recommend it, because i didnt like the way it looked, but the customer i had insisted that i cut it...she just wanted the radio in there.
  17. yes, run a new ground wire directly to the chassis. this helps when integrating with the toyota amplifiers. ive done this on a few lexus cars and it made that noise go away.
  18. yeah i would hook up the vss wire. i always hook them up whenever possible. the unit gets a better sense of where you actually are instead of trying to run solely off the gps signal, and if it looses that signal then it just tries to guess if youre still moving at a certain speed. the vss tells the unit exactly how fast youre going so that it knows when youre moving and when youre not, and how fast the vehicle is going.
  19. i have the same phone and it works great on my bt200....well for the most part. you have to put the phone in visible mode in order for the pioneer to find it. go to bluetooth menu then hit options, then discovery mode and put it on visible. then after you turn that on, then search for the phone on the avic. it should find it and after you put in the four 0s , then register the phone on the avic to save it. thats what i did on mine and it always recognizes the phone when i turn on the car. if not, then try resetting the bluetooth adapter.
  20. we have that at my work too!!! im ordering one asap and giving my d3 to my g.f....soo cheappp, but its only one unit per employee
  21. dang the gps antenna...i had that problem with an n2. took it out of the box while installing it in a customer's car and installed the antenna. after running the wire and plugging it in, turned it on and it said that there was no gps antenna connected...so i look at the antenna and the wire falls out of the antenna. looks like it was just smashed in there, but it was a brand new unit...never sold. weird.
  22. yes you can use the factory sirius antenna...just remove the yellow plastic clip that surrounds the antenna end that goes into the factory tuner. once you pull that off it just slips right onto the pioneer tuner. on my 07 gt i mounted the antenna right under the dashboard...as long as its not blocked by metal youre fine.
  23. if you picked up the scosche harness then yes the pink wire is the speed sense. just plug in the harness and look on the factory side of the harness. if the pink wire is in line with the factory grey/black wire then thats it.
  24. sounds like they hooked it up to the tach maybe??
