  1. Speed Sense = PINK/ORANGE (AC) PIN #33 OF THE 104 PIN CONN. @ THE PCM ON DIESEL TRUCKS GO TO THE WHITE/ORANGE BEHIND FUSE BOX. THIS WIRE IS TAPED TO THE SIDE OF THE MAIN HARNESS, NEXT TO THE AUX TRAILER HARNESS. WIRE HAS HEAT SHRINK ON THE END
  2. I've done two of these in the past and have looked all over. Never was able to find it.
  3. Speed Sense = DARK BLUE/YELLOW PC (AC) PIN 84 @PCM Sry, doesn't say where the PCM is.
  4. Speed Sense = BLUE/WHITE PCM MODULE IS LOCATED UNDER CENTER OF DASH, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS GRAY PLUG PIN #9, MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS BLUE PLUG PIN #23 Found this
  5. Just off the top of my head, there's usually an illumination wire behind bmw radios. So you could just tap it onto that. Don't remember the wire color.
  6. I've done this before with a excursion. Sry I can't remember exactly how b/c it was so long ago but I believe i was ran a video rca and split it into the monitors feed input. The rear controls you should be able to integrate using the pac swix. although I didn't attempt it. Sry couldn't be more help. Hopefully this at least puts you down the right path.
  7. yes and no. The signal is there in the factory radio harness which allows for factory radios to read it. But the signal is not a standard vss signal it is a data signal which the newer gmos-04's can read and interpret the vss signal. So if your using a newer gmos-04 you can get the signal right there and it is accurate. I've installed many of them and the vss work perfectly but I've never been able to get the illumination to work through the gmos-o4. For those of you unaware the reason I say "newer" is because the original gmos-04's didn't have a vss signal. I know this for a fact, I've r
  8. vss: Position 14 of 16 Pin Data Link Connector, driver side of console, yellow/white
  9. The books say that a 01 stang takes: Factory amplifier integration harness: Metra 70-5701 or 70-5519 Dash kit: Metra 95-5026 I'm not completely sure about these harnesses. I would probably call metra up and ask them.
  10. yes, the pick wire off of the head unit goes to the car specific vss wire
  11. You do need some stuff to put the radio in that car. Mounting kit: Metra 95-5812 or 99-5807 Radio Harness: With standard audio system: Metra 70-5520 With amplified audio system: Metra 70-5521 Antenna Adapter: Metra 40-CR10 The book says it need an antenna adapter but I'm not completely sure if it does. I would say buy that from a local ccity and this way if you don't need it you can return it. If you want to integrate steering wheel controls order the piece from ebay pac swi-ps.
  12. Hey, I can't answer all your questions but here's the little bit of info I do have: VSS= Green/White in radio harness Reverse= Green/Yellow (+) in harness to transmission It might be easier just to catch the reverse wire at the reverse lights considering your going to be back there anyway in order to run the camera.

  14. you have to use an authoring program. I recommend vso's convertxtodvd It allows you to choose many different file types and burn them to one dvd. Every thing's internal.
  15. here this post should help it has high resolution board scan pics of an n1: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=140
  16. If your going to sell it then just sell it the way it is. Let the guy buying it worry about if he wants to upgrade it and stuff. B/c i would guess a fair price for a orinigal n1 w/out any modifications done would be around 500, 450 if you were desperate. if you spend 100 to get it bypassed, then you would want around 600. Why would someone buy a used n1 for 600 when they can buy a refurbed (w/ factory warranty) n3 for 700 from ebay. Even though you upgraded the n1 and did the bypass it's still just an n1. Meaning all it is is an N1 with upgraded mapping, no added features like an n3(ipod,xm,
  17. Well first off, upgrading just the display (n2-n3) won't change anything other than the fact that the bypass is easier to do with the n3, you probably won't have a problem with the flex cable in an n3, and you'll most likely have the most recent software(70mtp). Upgrading the brain (n2-n3) though will give you mainly two features that are definitely sweat. With the n3 brain you will have an enhanced ipod interface and enhanced sirius interface. Personally I would only go with the n3 if you were getting it for a really good price, other than that i would just shell out a little more for an
  18. For music I would use a cd-r and make a data cd. For movies, the n1 won't read data dvd's or divx so I would recommend the program convertxtodvd by vso. It's a dvd authoring program. I use it for music videos and tv series. It allows you to put 30 music videos onto one dvd and cut out the menu.
  19. The reverse should be pretty easy to find, the vss though may be a little harder. my source says: reverse = violet/black (+) in harness in passenger kickpanel Speed Sense(VSS)= White/orange (AC) At the PCM located on the right side of the engine compartment Another source says VSS= VSS Wire: AUTOMATIC TRANS. 4 CONNECTOR ECM- RIGHT GREEN CONNECTOR POSITON 32, MANUAL TRANS. 3 CONNECTOR ECM POSITION 13 VSS Wire Color: AUTOMATIC LT. GREEN/WHITE or GREEN/BROWN or MANUAL WHITE/ORANGE

    N1 bypass

The original n1 disc's didn't require any special bypass, they just sensed if the parking brake was on and that's it. The newer ones (n2 & n3) actually use the gps to tell if the car is moving. So the only way to bypass an n1 with upgraded software is to open the unit up and solder to extremely small points together. Then it will be good to go. but it's extremely risky. If you want to downgrade your system back to the old software here's a post on how. http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10002&highlight=downgrade
  21. here check out this topic, it has instructions on how to do it. http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10002&highlight=downgrade
  22. Yeah, even though it's hard to turn down a sweet craigslist deal, all the features you want suck with the n1, other than the nav, which is debateable. Go with the n4, sry, don't know the cheapest spot, haven't shopped around.
  23. did you ground the e-brake wire? If so then there must be something wrong with the bypass. The n2 display with the soldered joints should remain bypassed no matter what brain or software combo you use.
  24. The guy is an idiot. That's how you bypass many units but not the new pioneer navigations. I hope you didn't pay him.
  25. I'm not completely sure but maybe the pioneer remote cd-sr1 could work with the d3 to answer calls. The cd-sr1 is made for the z1 but has an answer/end button. If it does work with the d3, you could use a pac swi-x programed with the specific ir command to answer/end calls. That's the quickest thing to come to mind.
