  2. I am a dinosaur. I had that 8 track in a Pinto.
  3. I agree. I had been a happy Pioneer camper for forty years before I bought the Z150. My first Pioneer was an 8 track with the original Supertuner.

    NavTeq 2013

What you see on the NAVTEQ site is the updates. If you have a Z150, you'll have to wait until late fall, from what Pioneer told me.
  5. I sent a trouble ticket to Pioneer asking about a map update for the Z150. They told me late fall 2014. I asked, but they didn't say whether there'd be any features update. So, I have a $1,000 nav unit in my dash and need to use my smartphone for navigation because the nav database in the head unit is out of date.
  6. It must be nice to have an extra $1400 lying around to jump through Pioneer's upgrade hoop. But after being sorely disappointed in the Z150, I think I'll wait and see what else is out there.
  7. It sounds like your mic is picking up noise from its location. You may want to try putting your ear on the console near where your mic is while someone else drives the vehicle. Maybe you can here the noise it's picking up. I ran the wire for mine up the "A" pillar, across the front of the headliner, then out through the front of the overhead console. I haven't heard a single complaint about noise during phone calls. My bad. I didn't read your post thoroughly. I assumed console shift.
  8. The nav unit uses vehicle speed to refine its positioning. If you want the warning to go away, you'll need to hook it up.
  9. Does it quit when your screensaver comes on? Mine did.
  10. That's pretty much where I stand now. I've been a Pioneer customer for almost 40 years and the Z150 is the biggest disappointment they've ever laid on me. For gawd sake, can we at least see a map update?
  11. For the promise of perhaps better smartphone connectivity and more timely map updates? It isn't worth a grand or more to me. And the OP is correct. It seems like each year, they seem to drop important features. I kick myself in the ass because I assumed that the 150 had the same voice activated features that the 140 - which I almost bought - had.
  12. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/GPS-Navigation/AVIC-Z110BT?tab=firmware It looks like a very minor update.
  13. It doesn't need to be the official Samsung adapter, but you do need a MHL adapter. I'm not trying to call anyone stupid, but is the Pioneer app installed on the cellphone?
  14. Do a YouTube search of the brake bypass for the Z150. There's a pin in the big connector that needs to be grounded as well.
  15. Not trying to be a smartass - but did you turn the feature on in setup?
  16. It's been a Pioneer problem for a long time. My last head unit wouldn't sort properly either. And if you go large on your card, it'll take forever for your unit to start playing music as it has to index the files every time the unit powers up. That's why I got an iPod Classic. It's not a perfect solution - every now and then, the head unit will lock up the iPod, requiring a restart on the iPod. That too was an issue with the last head unit.
  17. You need both the specified Android cable and a MHL adapter. It does not have to be the Samsung flavor. I bought a generic one on Amazon for about $10 that works just fine.
  18. I don't think they have the same plugs. Go to Pioneer's site, look up the two connectors for each unit and see if they have the same part numbers.
  19. Here's the issue you're going to face with a large USB or SD drive. The Pioneer head unit must index the music folders each time on start up. The larger the files, the longer it will take. I had a 64 G drive that took nearly two minutes before it was ready to play, and it won't index while you're using another audio source. As previously noted, either the SD or USB drives must be formatted in FAT32, exFat will not work. Windows won't natively format a drive larger than I believe 32 G as anything but exFAT. You'll have to get a third party program to do it. One other point. I've hea
  20. The ground is common whether you tie them together or separately. What you may want to double check is whether your unit is grounded where it's supposed to be, which, if I recall, is the black wire. The outer shield of the antenna connector will serve as a ground but it's not a real good ground to carry any significant current through.
  21. Your XM subscription is tied to the XM receiver which is its own box. If you ever have to change the receiver, you'd be screwed since the lifetime membership is/was tied to a subscriber. If the subscriber deletes your receiver from his account, you'd be screwed as well.
  22. Brand new? No. I've had it for about a year. What I have noticed...this is the second Pioneer head unit that I've owned...is that the iPod will occasionally lock up, and that only a reset will clear it.
  23. I believe there's a special adapter you need to get a Samsung phone to work.
  24. My 160 gig iPod Classic works fine with the 150. Maybe try resetting the iPod then resync with iTunes?
