1. Technically all the Z1's were bypassable. Even the oldest ones, we just didn't know what it took to bypass them at first. The Z2 from what it seems has no bypass. We might have just missed it so far, but from what it looks like, there is no bypass. Now if the rumors are true and the newer Z2's coming out are bypassable, then we will have 2 different kinds of Z2's, new ones and old ones. Old ones are not bypassable but new ones are. They have already shown they make changes like this mid year with the Z1's. But that change, both were bypassable, just differently. And they ha
2. It came rather quickly, within a month or so, I'll bet if it had been this long, the bitching would have gotten this bad.
3. I don't know exactly what the instant surge current is, I'm sure it' pretty high, depending on the time slice I'll bet it approaches infinity. But averaged over the first second or so, it's probably no more then 3 amps. Generally running around 2 amps or so.
4. Its the way that the JPG's are saved. It's in another post somewhere, but when you use adobe photoshop and save the jpg's if you just do a "save as jpg" it will not work with the Avic, and give you a read error. If you do a "save for web page" it will work fine. I think that MS paint, if you open the jpgs and then save them from inside that program it will work as well. I don't know exactly what part of those image files the Avics don't like but you just need to "save them correctly".
5. Yes, you can, I think Roxio will do that. But I have never done it. I don't believe that it will rip an audio DVD, I think it will just play it. Cool Edit 2000. Adobe bought them out and killed them. They integrated the MP3 editing into one of their programs, but you can't get it anymore. It's 7 years old and still the best MP3 editing program around. PM me if you want more info on that.
6. I'm thinking that those flashers won't work, if they update the software to be bypassed, it will be with the 2 wire ground method. But it's not really "out" yet so we are just saying this based on speculation and rumor.
7. ALL THE? No only the parking brake is not connected correctly message. All the other pop ups will still happen, but everything will work all the time (if this update is really true).
8. I haven't tried it yet, but I would bet that the odds are 100%. I'll bet if you unlocked both drives and stick them in a PC and then do a copy of all files from the new one to the "outdated" one, it will be bypassable when you put the drives back in the unit. We just need someone who has one of these new units to unlock their drive and make a drive image and post the files for us.
9. No the PAC SWI PS is compatible with the Z2, it works rather nicely too. Well the only wires you need to connect from the Pac SWI PS harness to the Z2's harness is power and ground. I'm not 100% sure about all vehicle wiring but the steering wheel control wire (from the truck) might not be brought out on adapter harness and it's certainly not on the Z2's harness. I think you will need to connect it behind the ford harness: Pac audio says for your vehicle: The INTERFACE's wire color we are going to use is White. This is the White wire on the INTERFACE, not the vehicle!
10. True, none of this is new and has been discussed before, but I think this might be the first time it's all put together in one post and as the first post in a thread. Out of all the posts here, this is hardly a bad or unwanted post. Maybe we should save the derogatory remarks for the porno spam... wait, maybe we want that too.
11. Ahh, the terminal on the end of the wire? I'm sure pioneer does not make it from scratch, but no one knows what make/model/part number it is, sorry. You can pull one out and hunt through the digikey or mouser catalog with calipers, but no one has done that yet.
12. It would be on the page I liked to in the first post in this thread.
13. The rumor is that the update to the Z2, this is the latest software that is shipping from the factory. These latest Z2's are supposed to be bypassable using the same 2 wire grounding method as the newer Z1's. There is nothing "different" in the bypass but the Z2's are supposed to be different. Have not seen any personally, but that's not saying much. Hope all this is true.
14. If so we might need to take a Z2, update it, make sure the bypass works, and then clone that drive to a Z1's drive and then your Z1 is updated to a Z2. Not the easiest thing, but it might be doable.
15. If pioneer's leaks the information and they allow the Z2's to be bypassed, do we have to send them check?
16. I have some... do saggy man boobs count? I believe there is also a law on the books in every state which says there is not to be a device that has the ability to play full motion video within view of the driver. I have a bunch of friends who are cops in my area and they said that technically the way the law is written, if you had a small color television on your front seat, even if it was AC powered and off you could get a ticket.... because that's a device which is able to produce full motion video. These kind of things, the cop would have to be a real jerk to give you a ticket
17. whtcrxghst, if that's true, that would ROCK!
18. There is 2 different generations of Z2's? I didn't realize that. Can't wait to see what this is.
19. Had such a good time going through 25 lbs of potatoes that all my friends asked me for the diagrams to re-create this thing. So I made a PDF for them, figured I would share it if you guys wanted. http://www.sminntech.com/files/Follies0 ... nPlans.pdf Video of me shooting it: http://www.sminntech.com/files/Follies0 ... air_me.wmv Friend shooting it and aiming for the tarp about 100 yards away: http://www.sminntech.com/files/Follies0 ... n_air1.wmv First my air powered one goes off, and to the right my buddy's combustion one goes off.... you hear it http://www.sminntech.co
20. Ok, maybe not all of it... just the good juicy stuff with pics.
21. Yikes that's a lot of stuff all run together, lets see if I can divide and simplify. Not exactly. The problem is the update is designed to be an "all or nothing" load and the new image (all files) is checked to make sure all the files have been properly loaded. We have a list of what changed, but had no luck changing one file out of the mix. You will be able to do the new 2 wire ground bypass. There is, but I would bet you would need to be a pioneer engineer to do it. Without some inside knowledge, it would be next to impossible. Or so time and money expensive yo
22. Paragraphs don't believe in me! Why should I return the favor. I also don't believe in global warming or the lone gunman.
23.
the thread is asking about auto lights the question is can or dose StevenRapp have the option to turn them off (auto lights) like i do? with the dome light override button
Ahhh, sorry, I got to this part
that dam z1 takes so long to boot :x i have plenty of time to do it all manually & wash the truck do u have that option?
And got side tracked into thinking you were asking people if they had the option to wash their truck while the thing booted up.
