  1. Ok, bad news. I have a Z2 image on a DVD. Unfortunately when I put the image on my hard drive, it came up with Starting pioneer navigation Update failed Restarting And it does this over and over. So something wrong with my Z2 image or the copying of the Z2 image to a Z1 drive. Sorry, I couldn't test the update disk yet, not till I get an image I can put on my Z1. I'll try again, but not tonight. Sorry.
  2. Couldn't get it updated yet: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8730
  3. I think it contains the updated maps so that a Z1 will be like a stock Z2. If the Z2 has "2007 updated maps" then yes. But from what I'm told there is no real update to a Z2 other than the bypass.
  4. I agree, I think there is a real good chance it will too. Unfortunately without a code there is no easy way to update your Z1 hard drive into a Z2.
  5. I don't know, I think so, but I forget and left my Z2 image at work today, so I will try that tomorrow.
  6. Ok, I tried this on my Z1 and it asks you for a password for updating the z1 to the z2. I'm going to have to update the files from the z2 image I have and then try the update.... unless someone out there has a secret code that would work and wants to PM it to me. The guy who gave it to me said that when you stick it into a Z2 that is not bypassable it will make it bypassable with no code. But I don't have a Z2 to try that with. More to come... PS, stop PMing me and begging for a copy of this disk, 25 requests in one day is way too much. If you want it for a Z2 bypass then it wil
  7. I'm going to try it tonight. If it needs an activation code I'm stuck. I have a Z2 image I can stick on and then do the update if I wish, I just might do that too. But I was told no code for the Z2's.... will check when I try it in my Z1.
  8. I don't have a Z2 so I can't tell you. But I know there are some Z2 owners who will be getting this disk soon so I'm hoping they will try it and post information that it works.
  9. Calm down. I finally got my hands on that disk. I will test it on my Z1 but I can't test it on a Z2, cause I don't have one. I was told this all works rather nicely, but I haven't tried it yet. I want to back up my hard drive before I do, give it a little while, I will post what I find when I do it. Hopefully some other people who also have this disk will when they get a chance as well.
  10. The file sizes there don't match the disk I have. I don't know what that is. If this is "shared" what location would be a "safe" way to share it? Or who has 7 gigs of online space who doesn't care if pionneer know that you are posting it? I was thinking news groups but who here knows how to go get 7 gigs off a news group?
  11. OK, I just got a hold of that disk. But haven't tried it yet. From what I understand if you stick it in to a Z2, it will take 10 minutes and make it bypassable and nothing else changes. If you stick it into a Z1, it will take hours and make it into a bypassable Z1. But I don't have a Z2 to test this myself. I wanted to backup my Z1 before updating my personal one.
  12. Not that I want to put a crimp in your plans or the generous donation of your friend. But with the new update disk which has been rumored to be coming out which will update a Z2 into a bypassable Z2, wouldn't it be worth seeing if this is really true before spending time to hack the old Z2's? I know people have been talking about that disk for months, but it looks like they are just starting to ship them. Just a thought.
  13. This reminds me of some problems others have had. I know there are threads about this... I don't know what to search on, but someone had posts about this, but I don't remember the solution (if there was one).
  14. It's a 7.something gig DVD, and I don't know if you need to crack it. I have heard you can just install it over and over. But I won't know till I get my hands on one, should be soon.
  15. I don't remember the exact number, I thought it was 1000. Whatever it was, someone said they got to about 60% of what was possible and it was 10 gigs. But this is from memory, I could be mistaken on the exact number.
  16. It' not going to matter too much, you have 10 gigs of space now, and that would add another 10 gigs, but you can only have 1000 albums, and I think you get to over half of that with 10 gigs, and another 10 would reach the limit of the Z1/Z2's software max. It's not like you can stick in 100 gigs and just load it up with albums.
  17. It might not be lies.... If your Z2 is brand new, that will work for a little while. But not forever. Of course the smoother the ride the longer that will last. Let is know what that stops working.
  18. The only way to make a Z2 into a Z1 is to have them both, unlock both hard drives and stick them in a PC and copy the drive images between them. And make a back up of them before hand. Then you can switch between the Z1 and Z2 images. But it's rather PC/tech intensive... there is no magic disk. Hopefully this disk will be publicly available soon and then no one will have to worry about the Z2 and lack of bypass.
  19. Of if it's working will in motion and you get the pop up message, it was there before you did the 2 wire ground. If you only grounded the parking brake initially, and you got that message and then grounded both wires, all you need is a reset (recessed button to the right of eject). But if you never just grounded the parking brake, did the 2 wire ground and the Z1 is "new" (not too many miles on it) then Misfit is right, you need to correctly ground the second wire.
  20. No, the disk is not out yet, but if you unlock both drives and put them in a pc and image the Z2 drive on to the Z1 drive you will have a Z2 with out any bypass. Maybe the update will change the Z2 as well, but till it's out, no one will know.
  21. We are working on it... give it a couple weeks, and I'll bet anyone will be able to update their Z1's or their Z2's. Trust me, when this comes out no one will miss it. You will know when it comes out.
  22. Me too, I don't think those will work anymore on an update Avic-Z? system. They already shown that they don't like that bypass and changed it, I would be surprised if they "stuck it back in".
  23. No it's not possible. Well actually what you want to do is not possible. You can put those files on the hard drive, but I believe that you are asking how to put them on the hard drive and then play them from the hard drive. You can put them on the hard drive to just take up space and know they are there and not be able to play them. But what you want to do is not possible.
  24. The Z1 and Z2 hardware is the same, the only difference between the 2 is software. So I would imagine that any update to the Z2 would be software only and with enough effort (unlocking hard drive and manually copying files) you could update old Z2's to the new Z2's for free. Of course if you want to take the easy way out and have an update disk, that you might have to pay for. But if new Z2's are bypassable and old ones are not, you can unlock both drives and hook them up to a PC and copy the image from one to the other.
