The west disks were in .rar files. People having problems with file sizes after uncompressing could be using an older version thats not uncompressing properly as well.

The West disk that is in .rar format is the N5 disk!

The West .iso is the ACTUAL CNDV-80MT!

make sure you navigate to the proper one!

Ahhh crap. It looks like the files I downloaded from the FTP were the N5 disks then. Redownloading now...

yeah, looks like someone did something to it! It was almost 8 GB.

I downloaded the "West" disc and got 7.93GB. When unzipping the "East" disc, I got 7.61GB from a 3.36GB zip file.

Everything seems alright for me.

I am burning the discs with Mac OS X's Disc Utility now.

Hey, I'm using Mac too. Has anyone had any luck burning with the Mac I kept getting a read error after I burned my disks and put them in the D3.

Yes. I simply used the Disc Utility built into OS X. It worked just fine. Load the ISO, select "Burn".

My D3 is messed up after updating.

After I updated my D3 with the east disc and everything works but my disc mode navigation screen is gone and I cannot get it back, it's hidden and I cannot restore it. :( All I see is the song title and folder name on the bottom of the screen.

I press on the screen like you normally would to restore it but nothing happens.

Any ideas?

I run a DVD full of mp3's so using the skip buttons on the face is not realistic.

Oddly the menu is fine in Radio mode.

Same Here, I downloaded the West.iso with FIREFOX (Internet Explorer does not work for some reason) and burned it with ALCOHOL 120% with the recording settings set to Book as DVD-ROM. I burned it at maximum speed and had no problems. I stuck it in my N1 and it updated right away.

Thanks to everyone for their posts on here with advice and thanks to jlong for hosting.

That's what I did to my friends N1, then I found out the new firmware requires soldering to get the dvd to play while driving!

Gosh, this was so much easier on a Mac. I just drug the iso to "Disc Utility", highlighted it, and selected "Burn".

Three weeks using this as my primary system. I love Windows Vista Ultimate x64 and all, but the power of UNIX in OS X definitely awakens the nerd in me. And, it's extreme application simplicity is just too cool.

D3 operation is successful using both discs. I upgraded with the WEST disc, and it worked fine.

The unit seems faster. XMX now has a channel logo! :)

Yeah, that was necessary a couple of updates ago. I think the CNDV-60 disks required that(maybe 50). I soldered mine a while back. It's not too hard as long as you have a good(small) solder tip. The hardest part is doing all the research before hand so that you don't make a mistake of soldering something incorrectly. Also, I've only watched a DVD one time while driving since I soldered it 2 years ago...lol.
