D3 and Video Ipod

Recommended Posts

You will not see a list, you will only be able to skip back and fourth to what ever movie you want to watch. When you hit VIDEO under the ipod interface on the D3, it will tell you to use the ipod control to start play. At that point, pick up the ipod and it will already be on the movies screen. Navigate to you playlist and select the movie you want to start with. Then use the D3 skip buttons to navigate through the videos from there. This process starts over once you turn the unit off or switch sources.

ok so i have a bunch of music videos that i converted for my ipod that can play on my D3 when i locate and select them individually. i tried making playlists and "smartplaylists" and tried to switch from one video to the next once it was loaded and playing on my D3, but all it does is restart the current video that i'm on.

i tried disconnecting my ipod to see if i could switch from one video to the next using the ipod only... and its forward and back controls and it doesn't let me do it either. it makes me hit the MENU button to go back to the playlist and requires me to choose the next music video manually.

so i'm guessing there is something wrong with my ipod settings. i've played around with it and searched online with no luck.

any advice is much appreciated!

From what your discribing, its sounds like you dont have the videos in a playlist. I havnt had this problom as long as the videos are in a playlist. Just make sure your videos are in a playlist. Also, if you have tv out turned on in the video settings on the ipod you should not even be able to watch the videos on the ipod, if you are able to watch videos on the ipod then you may not have tv out on.

You can also categorize the video as Movie, Tv Show, music video, etc. and then tell the iPod to sync those.

It doesnt matter, if there not in a playlist you cant skip to different videos without selecting them from the ipod.

To clarify a few things:

-i do have the videos in a playlist... using my ipod: when i select "videos" then "video playlists" my "playlists" come up and i am able to play the videos individually, but i cannot skip forward or backwards to other videos within that playlist while i am watching a video.

-i AM able to play videos individually on my avic d3 from these playlists (with the ipod settings set to video out), but i am unable to switch from one video to the next within a "video playlist" (i have to go back to the ipod playlist menu screen each time to switch videos)

-i tried turning "video out" off to see if my ipod is able to switch between videos in the "video playlist" when they are played on my ipod screen and it was still unable to do so.

am i missing something?

correct me if i'm wrong, but i think i made an ipod video playist in the right manner... i just have no idea why i can't skip to different videos? (with or without using the tv-out)

am i missing something?

ok... after ALOT of trouble shooting... i singled out the problem... from the ipod's main screen under "settings" then "shuffle"... this needs to be set to "OFF"... it was previously set to "shuffle songs" and it was giving me the error. I also tried it under the "shuffle albums" and got the same error when i was trying to navigate forward and backwards through videos.

i downloaded the latest software and it didn't seem to fix this weird quirk.

at least i found it! i wonder if any of your ipods do the same? can you guys check if you can switch between videos in a playlist if the "settings... shuffle" option is set to "shuffle songs" ?

thanks!

Shuffle affects podcast playback too. Although you will see all the podcasts in the playlist, when you play one the menu shows you are playing title 1 of 1 instead of the first of many.

It is a pain, because you generally have to have shuffle on to play music since the search is so basic.

I will have to try this with videos.

ok... after playing with my ipod video hooked up to my avic d3 i learned some new things...

1. you can switch between videos like everyone said as long as they're in a playlist AND as long as your "settings" has "shuffle" set to "off"....

although once its set up and you're able to do this... as soon as you listen to songs and turn "shuffle" back on using the avic-d3 touch screen, you HAVE to turn shuffle back "off" via the ipod menu. i haven't figured out how to turn shuffle off using the avic-d3 and am not sure if that is even an option.

anyone know how to turn "shuffle" off using the avic d3 interface?

Exchanged my 15 day old Ipod for a replacement at Circuit City. they did the Exchange with no problem. Replacement Ipod works fine..video playlist has no issues on this one. Works perfectly/D3 switches from video to video with no issue.

Update. Started having the same issues with the replacement ipod.

The other poster hit the nail on the head..which I also learned on Ilounge.com last night.

For music videos (and possibly other videos), you have to go into the "Get Info" tab for each video, and UNCHECK the "skip when shuffling" (or whatever it's called) mode.

THIS will allow the music video playlists to operate as intended.

Apparently this is some quirke with either video ipods or Itunes. Has NOTHING to do with the Avic
