cyrexpl
this is not Z1 update CD this file is for Z2 only Huh? This an image off of a Z2 hard drive to apply onto your Z1 to upgrade it to in essence be a Z2. Or am I missing something?
linuxkidd
This thread is for a complete Hard drive image that when applied to your Z1 will turn it into a Z2 with the 2 wire bypass. The thread linked a few posts back by AFMagnum is for the 2 wire bypass files needed to apply to an existing Z2, OR to a Z1 that already is running Z2 software. I haven't seen the Official Pioneer upgrade disc image online yet. But, as AFMagnum stated.. It's locked with special codes that you can only get from pioneer's website. ( Assuming this means.. only if you PAID for it from them ) Hope this clears up the confusion! LK
mikecoscia
Can I buy a second HDD to put this image on to, just incase anything messes up I can always pop the stock HDD with my Z1 software on it? If so where can I pick up the drive? Thanks.

Method 2, "CDROM ISO" is the actual upgrade disks from Pioneer. If applied to a pre-june Z2, it makes it bypassable. It's the same disks you use to upgrade your Z1 to a Z2 but will not work without an unlock code.

Yes, something failed on my upload but I can not restart it until I get home tonight. This will take some time folks, but the important thing is we are making the information available; no matter how long it takes.
dtomcat
Thank you for that clarification!! but the DVD's were two disks correct? so is this just one of two? As for the upload we can wait no problem!! I thank you for the opportunity. though anxious definitely appreciative
mark1107
AF Magnum, I'm not sure I understand. Now you are saying that this file upload is "Actually, the files I linked to IS the image of the Pioneer update disks. Method 2, "CDROM ISO" is the actual upgrade disks from Pioneer. If applied to a pre-june Z2, it makes it bypassable. It's the same disks you use to upgrade your Z1 to a Z2 but will not work without an unlock code. only for the CD ROM image that you use to make a Z1 into a Z2, but that you still need a code on Pioneers website for this to work." Thats not what your post says below. A lot of us were led to beleive that you uploaded an image of a bypassable Z2 that we can load onto our Z1's and have it update the Z1 into a Z2 and have updated maps and still use our two wire bypass. What exactly are you uploading? Posted: Fri Aug 10, 2007 5:17 pm Post subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok, I installed the Z2 image on my Z1 with great success. Everything is bypassed using the 2-wire bypass. So far I have 400+ miles from a trip I took yesterday and everything is still bypassed. When I installed the drive, it took a few moments for "system updates" then everything came online. The version now reads 2.000 and I verified the maps were updated. By the end of today, I will have over 600 miles with the new image. Assuming everything stays bypassed, I will do a level-4 reset, remove the drive and create a Bypassed Z2 image. Right now, the image was 9.4 Gbs before I inserted back into my AVIC. I still don't have a good solution on how to share the image. Distributing DVDs is the last thing I want to do. I can WinRar the file into 1 Gb portions if needed.
AFMagnum
Sorry if that was confusing. I'm uploading exactly what you think: A image of a bypassed Z2 drive that can be used to upgrade your Z1 with new maps and Z2 functions but still be bypassed with the 2-wire method. The link I referred to was something I posted early which brought you to another thread. In the other thread, you can download the ISO to the Pioneer update.
mark1107
AFmagnum, Thank you for clarifying that. I was worried. You are still "The Bomb" in my eyes. Will you be able to give us a step by step way of explaining of how to do this free z1 to z2 upgrade of our hard drives? I would be in your debt, and if this works, I say we start a paypal donation to you to say thanks after all of the stuff that weve gone through, and you saving us the $250.00 B.S. pioneer fee. dtomcat
OK... looked at the upgrade CD. I can't really get into anything , but what i've come to the conclusion (might have already been noted) but i doubt each disc has a unique Key. So the unique key is just a password for the pioneer server to log your device ID and the actual algorythm is just using your device ID. so if we can decode the .DAT files and i am able to look at the code... who knows possibly a Keygen will be born! Mark Yes, I will deffinetly have step-by-step intructions before this is all over. I appreciate the offer of donations, but save your money to unlock your hard drive (it will be explained in the instructions). Just like Hyperite and Ducatiboy, I just wanted the information to be shared at no cost. I have gained a lot from avic411.com and this is my chance to give a little back. Yes, there are a lot of people who discussed the same thing in other threads. That would be a much better solution, but I don't have the skill to make it happen nor do I think anyone has taken that on. Please don't continue this discussion in this thread though, there are plenty out there already talking about it. I'd like to keep this one focused on the Z2 Image.
