    New ipod and D3

Yes, you can hook the ipod up to the AV in ports using the apple cable to play videos on the D3, but you will not have the ability to use the D3 to control the ipod that way.
  2. That would be the simplest (and possibly the only) solution to the problem, IMO.

    New ipod and D3

You're going to have the same problem with a new nano as you have with the classic.
  4. The cheapest place is not always the best place. You'd do well to learn that as soon as possible.
  5. Are you referring to the track info updating, or the video playback, or both?
  6. Not exactly true. Sure, the new ipods will work with the D3, but the track info display doesn't update when it goes to the next song. Doesn't sound like that big of a deal, but after a day or so of that, you're gonna be hating it. A LOT. Basically, until somebody works out some kind of fix for all those issues, you're better off getting one og the 5th gen ipods. And KNIGHT20: Mine was $200 because it's brand new in the box with all the included... stuff. I don't trust buying used electronics from strangers sight unseen. Hell, the only reason I bought the new ipod off ebay was because e
  7. I think that setup is exactly what's causing the problem. Probably a faulty speed sensor or just a bad setup with it is sending a speed signal to your D3 when you're not moving. Disconnect the speed sensor they installed and see if the problem persists. If disconnecting it ends the problem, go back to the installers and tell them to fix it. You paid for a properly working setup, not an almost properly working setup.
  8. Pretty much the only place to find them are on ebay. Local stores aren't going to have any left unless you're the luckiest person alivce. And online stores either have sold out of them or are selling them for way too much money.
  9. No, dude. You might be colorblind or something. That wire that says ILL on it is your illumination wire, and it is orange. Connect the wire that's marked "+Battery" and the wire marked "Acc" to the positive terminal, and the black "Ground" wire to the negative terminal.
  10. That's not gonna work.
  11. No. It will not play videos due to the Apple authorization chip they installed in the new ones. Basically the video out on the new ipods can only be turned on when used with an adapter with one of Apple's little chips in it, IE only with Apple products. Read this topic: LINK
  12. If you connect both those wires to a switched source (like the acc power wire coming from the ignition) the unit will reset/lose memory every time you turn off the car. And you don't want that. If you hook them both up to a constant power source, you will not be able to turn off the unit ever unless you install a switch on the ACC power wire from the unit.
  13. Well virtually anything electronic is going to shut down when you crank the starter unless it's wired directly to the battery. That's the only way I can think of doing what you want to do. Wire both the constant and switched power wires directly to the battery and install a switch on the ACC power wire to the unit? Unless I'm missing something. No offense, but your question is a bit garbled and hard to understand.

  15. Is the reverse wire going to your D3 hooked up correctly? I think it will only activate the reverse camera in map mode if it you're actually in reverse. And if the reverse wire is not connected to the unit, it won't display it. I'm just guessing, though. Could be something else altogether.
  16. You realize that would make you unable to turn off the radio, right?
  17. One of those blue/white wires is coming in from your speed sensor. The other is going out to your cabin. They both can be used, as they carry the same signal. (It's basically one wire, routed through the cruise control unit)
  18. I pretty sure there's not an option for that. You might want to take a quick look through the manual, though.
  19. Short answer: if you're going to use an ipod with the D3, get one of the old units.
  20. There's a small pin sized button on the top left of the face. You'll need something small like a pen or something to push it.
  21. You run the wire back to your tail lights and tap it in to the wire going to one of your reverse bulbs/lights.
  22. Did you perhaps hook the constant power wire to the switched power source (ignition)? It sounds to me like it's resetting the unit every time you turn off the ignition.
  23. That's what I did. I learned about all the problems with the new ipod classics like the day before I was going to buy one. So instead I bought one of the pld 5th gen ipods off of ebay for like $200.
