1. Here are the ones I've been actually using on my Z1. -Litos
2. I tried most of them out on the Z1 and they look phenomenal. Basically just resized a bunch of pics that I already had. Though that was a chore in and of itself. I currently have 3 CDs for all of my background images. Going to add a few more sometime soon for Address book photos. Once we can figure out a way to upload images to the Z1 permanently, instead of using the discs all the time, I'll be all over that. -Litos
3. Alright here goes. I just finished getting most of my backgrounds for the Z1 uploaded. Note, not all are safe for work. I'm still young, so some of the pictures are still dirty, hope you don't mind. Then, without further adieu, just head to this link to check out the backgrounds I have made. AVIC-Z1 Backgrounds There are 408 I believe, so take your time. -Litos
4. Also note, I burned about 408 backgrounds to a CD (yes I was bored, yes I'm making them online accessible to all), and only 200 were selectable within the Z1. The first 200 showed up and the rest just didn't display. Perhaps this is the limit for the number on a CD. Doubt many others will hit that threshold, just thought I'd share. -Litos
5.
Unfortunately, ophcrack is for Windows Login passwords, not for hard drive passwords. Locked hard drives will give you a certain number of guesses, after which the drive needs to be reset to try again.. so brute-forcing a password isn't gonna be easy. Desktop hard-drives manufactured by Seagate have a Serial-port interface if you are willing to build an adapter circuit.. but it's not known if an equivalent interface exists on their Notebook drives. Apparently, you can issue instructions over this serial interface to clobber the password. This doesn't help for
6. Excellent point. I just wanted to throw out there that having it installed shouldn't hamper progress either, although we do have one case thusfar. -Litos
7. I still have the old bypass installed, and everything is working just fine with the new bypass as well. -Litos
8. Everyone seemed to just give their opinions. Their is no need to be a jackass just because you disagree with them. For my tastes, I have found a few things that I agree with you on, however they are far from dealbreakers for me. If they bug you that much, than return the unit and stick with your Garmin V. -Litos
9.
i dont really think these things are warranties of any sort.. I think they should be classified as "service plans". My 2 cents, i could be wrong.
Thats exactly what they are called. If you read any of these service plans they will tell you they are NOT warranties. They ARE service plans. -Litos
10.

As much as I hate Alpine, the latest Alpine unit looks about a thousand times better in that it allows you to upload MP3, play MP3's off DVD, hook up any USB music player, et. al.
Which Alpine is this?
From everything I checked its a single DIN DVD player that needs both an external amp and external monitor just to utilize the DVD movies. No navigation. Unless there was a different one I missed. I'm glad I have the Z1 instead of this. -Litos
11. Ok to get back on topic. This DOES work with my July 06 unit. I hooked it up with the Cell Phone Mute wire as instructed and grounded it. I also have my parking brake wire hooked up to a switch that is grounded. After resetting the unit, everything was unlocked. I tried turning off my vehicle at red lights and restarting the car, after it booted back up it worked the same way, still bypassed. Also, I found that when the parking brake switch I had put in is flipped to "off", meaning the pbrake is not connected, the bypass goes away. As soon as the switch is flipped to "on", every
12. I'll certainly give this a try when I get home tonight, though actually grounding it securely will be a bit tricky, as my buds have all the soldering/hookup stuff, but I'll find something. I'll let you know how it goes on my unit and if we can confirm it for sure. -Litos
13. Pardon me for asking, but what is the original intention of the cell phone mute wire if hooked up as per Pioneer's intentions? -Litos
14. Its close to bedtime here so had to skim through. I read that people were considering using a modded xbox to unlock the drive. I don't know if anyone happened to find a modded xbox but I happen to have one. So if anyone is near Ohio and willing to work with that then there is an option. Sorry if I'm too late on this one. -Litos
15. So we have to add in the RCA adaptor (for the preamps and A/V in/out) correct? Then ground the pin specified along with the parking brake correct? Also if that is true, and the parking brake is hooked up to a switch, will flipping the switch to "float" the parking brake "break" this bypass in the event of a cop pullover for instance. Then after that do we need to reset the unit every time that switch is flipped? Thanks for suffering through my annoying questions. -Litos
16. Just remember to test this out on LONG trips and MULTIPLE trips. With my July 06 unit I was able to see movies with the parking brake merely grounded for varying amounts of time, before the whole unit would revert back to default and stop working. Ducatiboy, kudos. At least you know I have a July 06 unit and you still got a flasher order from me before we figured out this didn't work. Anyways, after some serious testing of this, perhaps bench testing as well, we can hopefully verify this. I know I'm ordering a car alarm from Circuit City and the guys there helped me with my inst
17. Which XM tuner do I need to get the logos to show up on the Z1? Are there multiple tuners or just the GX10 that works? Does the 920 allow you to view the logos and extra information? -Litos
18. So we either need the Nav XM or the 920 module in order to get the full graphical interface as well as the extra lines of text (artist/song) in the xm mode, correct? -Litos
19. There should be a button that looks like two triangles (Red/White). Hitting this will go from always having the car face to the top with the map reorienting. The other mode from hitting the button is to always have north be at the top of the screen with the triangle for the car reorienting. -Litos
20. Those "warranties" that you can buy from the unauthorized retailers are NOT warranties. They are merely service plans. -Litos
21. Just note that putting a switch on the parking brake wire that leads to ground is a great way as well. When the switch is off then the wire is "floating" and everything should work as Ducatiboy has listed. When you flip the switch it should trigger the error message and disable everything. How is this possibly useful you may ask? Well consider getting pulled over by the cops. It works as a safety feature that will lock your unit back up for further protection from the law, if and when they pull you over. -Litos
22. Or why the XM Radio function doesn't seem to come with graphic logos with the generic XM model XM tuner. Why the navigation features have been dumbed down while driving. This was a "feature" that was not needed. How to speed up some of the menus. -Litos
23. So basically he said that you need the XM Navtraffic + XM receiver just to get that function to work? That seems rather stupid to me. Why not just put all the images for both systems on the unit? Pioneer have some lazy ass people working for them. I want to start a petition that anyone with a Z1 automatically get the choice to upgrade to a Z2 when they put them out. -Litos
