  1. Thanks, I appreciate the quick response. My iPod only has like 1000 songs on it and I do have iTunes match, so I could use my phone. The catch for me is that the Classic has ~600 Music Videos on it. I could handle switching back and forth for that function, as well as using my phone for hands free. I'm just not sure if AppRadio can play a video from a Classic. I know it can from an iOS device. I think what will likely happen, is I will end up using my phone paired with Vevo for Music Videos. I still have unlimited data from AT&T so it shouldn't be that big of a deal.
  2. I have searched and searched but I am unable to find an answer to this question: Does the AppRadio 2 allow an iPod Classic to be connected and usable, while an iPhone(or iPod Touch) is connected? Pioneer's website says that an iPod Classic is compatible, but it doesn't say anything about having 2 devices connected at once. I sent the question to Pioneer and they sent me this Basically, they couldn't answer a simple question. I'd appreciate it if someone could answer this for me. Thanks.
  3. Again, I've looked at all that. It does not list a single pin location, which is what I am in need of. Standard installation I can do, but this isn't a standard installation. I need the pin locations on the harnesses that come with the D3(The RCA and Power Harnesses). In order for that document to become even a bit useful I need to know the pin locations for each wire.
  4. I tried all of that but nothing I can find can tell me the pin positions on either harness. And that's what I really need, otherwise I'm going to have to buy a new set.
  5. Okay so the other day my sub stopped working. It was fading in and out for a few days and then suddenly stopped. I narrowed the problem down to the wiring. My D3 came with a bad harness so I've been using the power wire rather than the signal wire. but after poking around and seeing some loose wires I'm not entirely sure the pins are back in the correct positions so: Question #1: Does anyone know of or have a wire diagram for the D3 harness. I'd like to know the color and position of each wire, if possible. If I can't get the signal wire to work again(or some variety of it) I'd li
  6. Just out of curiosity, why did you decide to get an aftermarket head unit? Didn't like stock? Stock went bad? Wanted something new? Wanted something custom? Something else? As for me: I got an Alpine headunit because my stock was literally skipping, just because I'd be going up a hill. It sounded really good for stock, with a nice interface, but it was just too annoying to not switch. I then made the move to the AVIC-D3 in February because I was going on a long trip and needed GPS. Originally I was going to get a portable device, but I found an authorized dealer selling it
  7. It's on the metal behind the dash. It's the same spot I used to ground my other 4 aftermarkets, and stock headunit.
  8. I've had my D3 for quite some time now, and as a unit I love it. I originally had it installed in a 2001 Honda Accord. It was in there for about 3 weeks and I didn't have any problems. I have since moved it into a 97 Maxima. Occasionally(every 10-16 days) the unit won't start when I turn the car on. To fix it I either have to wait and let the the thing going itself, or open up the dash and "shake" some wire. This has been happening since mid-March, so a few weeks ago, I thought maybe there was too much behind the dash and it was over heating. So I went in shortened up the wires, tighte
  9. Well, if I were you I'd get the D3. The reason for me is pretty simple. The D3 does what the D2 does and more. Yes it's $150 more, but you get the newer maps, which themselves end up making it a better value and you get to save $100, assuming you do indeed get the new maps if you buy the D2.
  10. I would guess this because I've blown three fuses already since I got my D3 in late february
  11. You dont need to connect the parking brake wire to the harness. You should take the Parking Brake Wire(Green) and ground it with your moved Mute Wire(Yellow with Black Stripe), while each is only connected to the D3. It should Go Like This: AVIC-D3 l l l l l V l Moved Mute Wire---------- l l V l Parking Brake Wire---------V l l V Ground
  12. I've had my D3 in 2 cars and I haven't used the cage or brackets in either install. But thats just me.
  13. I actually saw one at my local Best Buy for $20. It's been there since January atleast. So I'd check your Best Buy if I was you.
  14. Over the past week or so I've been looking at redoing my car audio/video system. I've had the D3 since February, but I'm just one of those people that always wants to do something else. Sometimes its good, sometimes its bad, but thats neither here nor there. After some research, I was on the verge of building a carputer. Basically I wanted to have a massive harddrive for all my media in the car. But, the further I dove into the carputer world, I realized I was thinking of more questions, and things seemed to become increasingly difficult. During this period I listed my AVIC-D3 with iP

Mine is connected to the yellow wire on my stock radio harness. It can be there, it can be connected through another unit like an XM or Sirius box, or can even be wired directly to the car battery itself. There are a number of places your could be depending on your install. If I were you I would just find your box and follow the wire to were ever it leads, then connect it to the closest power wire.
  16. I would go to the website of the company that makes your video card for your laptop. Check to see if they have a "video control center" or something of that nature. It will give you more control over the signal you send to the D3. If you don't know what video card you have, go to google and search for a free program called Belarc. Download it and install it. It doesn't have any viruses/spyware/adware, and it will tell you everything you need to know about your computer once you run it. Good luck, I've considered doing this but haven't gotten around to it yet. Let me know how it goes.

There should be 4 things connected to the box: A Mic A Bus Wire to connect to the radio A Yellow Wire A Black Wire The last 2 are attached to a clip and inserted into the same spot. The yellow is for power, and should be connected to the adapter at that clip, and then somewhere behind the dash to a yellow wire in the harness. Then a black wire also on that clip, is for grounding. That needs to be connected to any grounding wire or, simple screwed to a bare piece of metal yourself. Now since you said it worked intermittently and then stopped working, I would check the yellow wire fi
  18. If I were him I would blame the new amp as well, but that is because they probably ran the amps power wire, and the RCA's on the same side of the car. The the electromagnetic field the power line gives off is enough to distort the sound and make the speaks buzz. Now I don't know exactly how your setup is, but you mentioned a second amp, which I am assuming is for the speakers, and your first is for your subwoofers. If this is correct, then I'd almost guarantee its the power wire by RCA's problem.
  19. No you don't want to ground to your unit. You want to ground away from your unit on to a piece of metal on the car. Plus if you're doing the bypass you definitely don't want the extra charge going off on your radio.
  20. I'd try going to one of POI and setting it there. I set mine up in my driveway and I thought it was way off, but when I actually took it on the road it was spot on. For some reason the map is off a little bit. My street is visible on the map, but it has me on a shorter street one neighborhood over, that may be 25 yards from where my street begins.
  21. I can't see how this would work, simply based on the idea that the Nav Disc wouldn't work if you stuck it in a home dvd player. Even though its DVD based its not necessarily designed for any dvd drive.
  22. I'm going to go out on a limb and say it will work and here is why: My iPod froze the other day and I had to let the battery die before I could use it again. Once it was out of power, it wouldn't turn on for regular use at all. But, plugged into my D3 it started up and was usable even when I couldn't use it otherwise. Essentially, I believe that the iPod uses the D3 cable as an "external" battery and allows it to operate that way, rather than using the iPods own battery. I hope that helped. I tried to explain it the best I could.
  23. I'd use Nero Vision. It's part of Nero 7, and I think it's the best way to do it. It lets you create menus, background music for the menus, and custom background pictures. It also will determine the best quality for the number of music video's you have, and will warn you when the quality diminishes after you've added so many videos. I've used DivX converters before, and the upside is you can get more video's on one disc, but if they are 4:3 videos and not wide screen, you can't get the videos to fill the whole screen. Good luck.
  24. Okay sounds good. Thanks for the replies, I'm going to pick up one of them tomorrow. On a side note, I just assumed they merged because I read an article about how the US government approved the terms of the merger about a month ago.
  25. Now that XM & Sirius have merged, is there any chance of a new module coming out that pics up both? I eventually want to get both for my D3, but I don't want to get XM now(for the navtraffic feature) and then have to buy a second box later for Sirius if a singular box is coming out any time soon. If anyone has heard anything it'd be great to know. If there isn't, which wouldn't surprise me, that'd be fine and I'll just go pick up an XM box tomorrow. Thanks in advance.
