1. unclip the trim ring. It may be tight but it dose come off. then look at the front of the radio. You'll see 2 small screws on each side of the face. those screws are what hold the cage onto the chassis of the n3. Grab a #1 phillips and remove all 4 screws. the cage will then slide off. Turn the chassis upside down and look at the white sticker. Right by where it says pioneer is the cover for the bypass switch.
2. Most insurance companies don't as a part of your regular insurance cover aftermarket equipment. They tend to require extra to cover aftermarket equipment.
3. Might want to consider having it done professionally if you've never done anything like that before. The extra cost of the installation can far outweigh the cost of repairs should something bad happen. The other thing is I don't beleive there is a dash kit for the xtype. If that is the case then one will have to be fabricated.
4. That's possible. then again I've also seen the ground pin in the wrong slot on the power harness on more than 1 occassion. The power and ground pins diagonally opposite on yours?
5. The ires don't have nything to do with it. I ran my d1 for 3 months without the reverse and speed sense hooked since I didn't have the time to hook them up. It's more than likely incorrect information on the navigation discs though.
6. Make sure the pbus cable on the ipod interfeace is plugged into the output port. If it's not you'll get the display info, but no sound. It's a common mistake. Would be nice if pioneeer did more than color code the ends of the cable.
7. the d1 doesn't have a separate brain. Everything is built into the double din chassis.
8. Might want to double check where the ground for your tuner is hooked up. I put many of both pioneer sirius tuner in and have never had to directly ground the chassis of the tuner.
9. I don't have any pics sorry. I can say this with a little modification to the rear of the radio cavity it fits beautifully. Looks stock almost
10. Amazing, I have the exact same problem with my d1. Which started happening immediatly after getting the updated nav discs.
11. Never tried to do that with the ford sat tuners, I have with the gm ones though. If you canfind the sirius tuner and snap a pic of the antenna connection might be able to help you out.
12. Youd need a power supply for them. Be t a power inverter or a dc-dc convertor. Oh and the av cable to plug into the z1. There really isn't much to actually putting one of those in. The trick comes in when you want to make it disappear into the car somewhere.
13. do you have one of those white ezpass things? if that works on the inside then the gps antenna will too. Otherwise only way to find out is how I said before and do the antenna last.
14. http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=99 That'll tell ya pretty much everything you need to know.
15. You sure it's not shorting against anything else? I've seen that happen when there's a short between the yellow wire and it, or if when it's hooked to an amp a strand of wire from the battery lead is touching the remote lead of the amp.
16. The z1 comes with a voice mic, the owners manual, and a trim plate that's it. The tv tuner is not built into it. The vehicle dynamics is built into the z1. So the addon pack is useless. Dunno if the surround sound piece will work with the z1, but to the rest of the stuff your asking here goes. ND-BT1 - Yep works Bluetooth Adapter 120 CD-IB100II - Works iPod Interface Adapter 50 SIR-PNR2 - Works SIRIUS Dig.Sat.Radio Tuner Adapter 100 DEQ-P8000 - Dunno Dolby Digital/DTS Dolby Pro Logic II Audio Processor Adapter* 450 GEX-P5700TV
17. No it doesn't. However you can get an av cable that will plug into the dock connector or the headphone jack. Then plug that into the aux input of the z1. There ya go ipod video on the z1.
18. Depends on the car. some vehicles have a metalized film in the window that can cause problems with a nav system picking up the gps signal. Best bet is to do the antenna last and try it inside first. If it don't work inside then outside it goes.
19. The best way as far as sound quality goes would be either the pioneer ipod interface or an rca to mini plug plugged into the headphone jack of the ipod. The dvvd player sorta. Pioneer makes a dvd changer that the d2 can control. The model number I can't remember at the moment. I do beleive there was or is a memeber here currently selling one.
20. 1. Yeah sounds like the mic cable might be crimped somehow. Try taking it out and plugging it driectly into the z1 and wiggling the wire. 2. I'm going to hope they used a wiring harness when installing the z1. If they did then there should be a blue wire in that harness marked power antenna. Hook that one up to the power antenna lead of the z1. If your still getting poor reception, try hooking the power antenna lead on the subaru harness up to the red ignition wire. Sometimes the power antenna lead of an aftermarket radio doesn't put out enough current for the antenna amp to turn o
21. Should be a gray/black wire in the vehicles radio harness. Can also get it at the gem too. Though getting it at the radio harness is alot easier.
22. Yeah, the accy circuit that tells the z1 when to turn on is not being powered buy the remote start. MOre than likely because the extra accy wire was not needed to make the r/s function properly. I'm not really familiar with the model r/s you have so I really can't get into specifics as far as how to fix it so the r/s will turn on the z1.
23. what brand remote start is it? And what kind of vehicle are you talking about?
24. Out of curiousity what kinds of vehicles does everyone have. My self I've put 3 z1s in: 2005 Trailblazer 2002 Suburban 2004 Silverado Anyone else getting a static noise when messing with the buttons?
25. The other option is just to head on over to the12volt.com the info is probably there if it's not, I don't see too many people trying to charge you for it either.
