  1. It is when I play with the hose infront of the D2 that it gets dirty.
  2. In the shows I've been in I bring at least one extra battery or if I can I put a car charger on my battery during the show. Exactly how long you can run the unit on your battery depends upon many factors... The size of your battery. The type of battery. The condition of your battery. The draw of other devices in your vehicle. Temperature. I can run my D2 with a DVD player & the key turned backwards for about 4 hours before my battery goes down.
  3. Awesome.. It's nice to see there are other rednecks out there too.
  4. I just edited in the VSS wire. For the reverse wire I always go to the back up lights for that. Unless you are adding a reverse camera don't bother with it.

  6. Good work so far. You are brave, I always remove the head unit while I finish the trim. I just don't trust my sanding precision. What are you using to sand it with?
  7. I think I hear your babysitter calling you.
  8. In a car I recommend using a pure sine wave inverter. They are more money, but provide a better 110 volt source than the cheaper modified or square sine wave inverters.
  9. If you mean the grey trim piece, I think it looks good. I wouldn't sweat it. I am rather fussy about fit and finish yet that wouldn't bother me. Uneven gaps left and right would drive me nuts, but that install looks good.
  10. Yeah, it's my parents house. With a yard like that I wouldn't move out.
  11. The V6 is respectable. 200 HP.
  12. I've used clear silicone. Just a dab and it will hold. When you are done just peel it off and wipe the vinyl off. It comes in a tube like tooth paste and is called Silicone II.
  13. The worse ones are the cars that have had a few radios installed in them already. Trying to figure out the wires, the splices, the poor connections. However I did a Lamborghini once. A yellow one a few years ago. It was a pain because I had to make a face plate adapter, I couldn't find an accurate wiring diagram and it was tight.
  14. Thanks much appreciated.
  15. I've been looking but there doesn't seem to be a DC cable available. It seems that this is a common problem with the Xbox. It requires a very clean power source and a car's power is anything but clean. From what I have read, the pure sign wave inverter is the only solution.

    Xbox in car

Has anyone here installed an Xbox in a car? I installed one and a loud buzzing is coming out of the speakers. I am using a modified sine wave inverter, so I guess I will have to buy a pure sine wave inverter. There is no noise if I plug it in to the wall. Can anyone recommend a pure sine wave inverter? Is there another solution?
  17. I use the security cable on my D2. It is shortened so that it can only be unbolted from under the dash. And that is a pain in the ass to get at. Unless you know where it is it would take someone some time to unbolt and getting bolt cutters in there is next to impossible. If someone really wanted it they would get it, but anything that slows them down I will use. The cable, my alarm (paging) and a slew of sensors hopefully will make the idiot who wants a radio to choose the next car and not mine.
  18. Park the vehicle outside and leave it for about 10 minutes with the unit on. Then check it again. If you don't have more sats then something is wrong with the antenna location, the antenna itself or possible the unit (unlikely). I installed mine in my garage and when I was done I had a very weak signal too. Other people here could give you better advise if that doesn't work.
  19. I have the same set up in my Mustang. D2 though. I went with wireless controller to avoid the cable. Works perfectly. I also opened the Xbox, spliced in a stitch to the power switch and mounted it in my center console. That way I can turn the unit on and off from in the car. I didn't know they have a 12 volt adapter though. I used a 150 watt power inverter.
  20. One to the backup connects the other to the AV in. Or you could buy a swith. But then you would have to throw the switch to change views.
  21. I cannot believe that people here are not furious over this CC stunt. It doesn't effect me at all and I have been going to out of my way not to shop there. Please post what you think I should do. Should I avoid them or am I just getting worked up over nothing?
  22. Maybe his computer is not Y1K ready.
