i really don't inderstand what you did with your deck but if you read on this forum it was me and stephanie who found out how to get the test mode working on a non US deck. i also found out that you can delete those files from within the 2 folders on the testmode folders. from day 1 i have had my deck in testmode to modify the deck without any problems. i'm sorry about you problem but since i don't understand the problems you have with your deck i can't help you. may be others do.

this also happens some times with my deck. driving on a route and then at some point the map isn't moving any more. the pointer is gone and the only way to get it back is to press menu and then map again. this can happen every where, country roads or in the city... the problem is that it's intermitted so i can not find a reason why it happens like in a tunnel or so with no gps signal but no even on a clear night on a country lane it happens

very simple return the unit and claim back your paypal (didn't you?) money.

what deck do you have? if an EU version it should come with a CD-Rom with those TTS voices on it (mine did)

@alien2000a, may be you should update your deck too as it changes lots of files what can solve your problem. another thing is that if i make a mod i copy those mods on the internal disk and not in the data.zip file. so my data.zip file stays unmodified. if any thing happens i can easy delete those mod files. you will have to create all the folders as they were in the data.zip file of course.

do NOT use EU updates on US decks and do NOT use US updates on EU decks! various people have broken their decks while ignoring this very clear statement from Pioneer.

i routed mine through the radio antenna. so it's on the roof but no holes to drill. the gps antenna sits just next the the radio antenna and holds well on the magnet.

dodgy connection? check your connector on the back of the deck.

witch model do you have

maybe a very short wav sound file with only a beep or so? i don't know since i disabled the speed camera's notification so can test it, sorry.

Please don't give up on this. Your addition is appreciated by many. Don't let a couple of smart ass comments by someone discourage you. There seems to be a lot of that on this site. thanks for saying this out here as i also discovered that my self. remembering a discussion about the volume knob of the deck and then getting replies (NY high posts counts) if we were eating chicken (fat fingers) etc. also the famous blue bars in the navi screen with no route, getting answers like, who is using the navi screen without route etc. strangely for both problems are good solutions these

correct. the USB connection is only to control the iPod from the deck. the audio is feeding to the deck by analogue audio cables (RCA connectors).

also with an US version no TMC in the UK (EU)...

i found this deck underpowered. was playing a video podcast (hak5) of the sd while the phone rang. i was unable to answer the phone. the deck completely hung. no matter what button i pressed nada. then after 2 miles further he it changed some screens. about the replies on this forum... biased very aggressive and childish. but he it's difficult to admit that this deck isn't good to do the thing pioneer wrote on the box.

i have found that both the usb and sd are useless when playing podcasts & audiobooks since this deck doesn't remember where you left. so when listening to a podcast of 2 hours but switch off the engine after 1 hour (my travel time) it just starts over again from the beginning. but now with an old first generation ipod nano i'm happy.

if do a bit of searching you will find that there is an bluetooth update for the EU versions on the EU web site...

with my f900bt deck, 6 out of 10 times no response at all when pressing the screen...

i have the same thing. also the unit doesn't pickup the phone while watching a video. in my opinion the hardware can't cope... i do watch video's from hak5. well more tried as i need to receive phone calls too. so no more video's for me.

not working on the f900bt but does on the 5220... i tried 2 different phones

please bear in mind that here in europe we don't have voice recognition. so that makes the kenwood even better in compare with the pioneer.

did you edit those files with notepad? if so try another editor like Crimson Editor...
