  1. i have a f900bt installed. Only took about a few hours to do, since we had to rewire the harness for more pins, but i did all my research beforehand. I bought the dealer part just like you mentioned, but i bought it from the dealer since the shipping was free and it was about the same price. As far as pictures, there are quite a few people on this forum in the F-series area that have altimas with the f900/f90 installed. If you need them, pm me. just make sure you ordered the wiring harness adapter as well as the radio antenna adapter since nissan uses a proprietary harness for the ant
  2. way to do your research before buying the unit.
  3. 1. It might look the same, or at least very similar, but there are other things to be aware of before swapping them out. First, make sure the molded harnesses are a match and clip together properly. Second, even if they fit, the pin assignments might be completely different. Third, search sites like crutchfield and see if the same harness is sold for both units. 2. yes. Instead of moving the mute wire, I actually pulled a wire from a spare harness I had and used the extra pin and wire for the e-brake ground. It works perfectly and I've never had a problem with it. Just make sure you groun
  4. This forum has a ton of help for the altimas: http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/f-q-20 ... ities.html Also, don't buy the aftermarket metra or whatever kits. Nissan makes an OEM dash kit that matches the color and texture of your dashboard. I ordered mine through the Nissan dealer parts direct. Depending on the type of A/C controls that you have, you'll have to order the correct part. For manual A/C controls, they sell a double-din dash kit which fit snugly around the manual A/C controls. For the dual-zone auto, you'll probably have to order the factory nav dash kit which doesn't fit t
  5. A very BIG thanks to everyone who contributed on getting this out. I can't explain how much I appreciate it. At first, I was a bit skeptical and worried I might brick the NAV with a "hacked" firmware/map upgrade and be unable to explain it to Pioneer if I sent it in for warranty. But after how smooth and easy the process was, I realized my worried were unwarranted. Firmware and maps are updated. 3.0 is a lot better and I feel like the value of the F900 I paid for is slowly starting to redeem itself. If not for the unit, at least the developer community here is well worth it. Screw pio
  6. ewww jvc... pioneer:jvc as ferrari 590:ford mustang gt That means nothing to me. Pioneer is garbage in my eyes so brand name recognition is worthless. Eclipse AVN726E is a bit more than I wanted to spend but looks nice. didn't you give up on your avic? why are you still here? do you enjoy whining that much?
  7. Ok Mr 1337 .ini Hacker. Sell the unit and move on. We get it. I am putting it up on ebay as I type. Don't worry you wont have to read any more about all the flaws in your precious AVIC from me any more. At least not from me. Searching through your history, I dont even see so much as a .ini hack - one that many members have used and benefited from might I add. Stay classy. finally.. it's only taken you almost a year. you've never been happy with the avic. and you're entitled to your own opinion. if you had sold this or returned it within 2 months then that would've
  8. there will always be a way to bypass. pioneer wouldn't get rid of it. it's such a big dealbreaker for a lot of users that some people would rather just purchase another brand/unit--myself included.
  9. i think you want to buy the pioneer iPod/iPhone cable. Otherwise you will not be able to control iPhone from the AVIC. The Apple cable is missing the USB connector required for AVIC remote control. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... /CD-IU230V you'll find it cheaper on other websites than the Pioneer site. http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-CD-IU230V ... B0017PGTF2
  10. buy one of these. you don't need the pioneer brand. http://www.amazon.com/Hosa-Visual-Camco ... 727&sr=1-1 "pins" should be the same. It's just a standard TRS connector. If pioneer did try to change the pins, then just try different combinations of the colors. Usually yellow is video, but if Pioneer decides to be jerks, then it could be L (audio) or other. Make sure that your settings on the AVIC AV2 input is correctly configured. I used mine with no problems. It took a little fumbling, but the manual provides directions. Read pages 120 and 143 for detailed instructions.
  11. i'm confused. I've used the front 3.5 mm jack for audio before. I remember having to go into the settings or something to configure it properly. Also, since there's no video being inputted, the screen is blank except for the AV2 icon in the top left with the clock.
  12. couple things: 1. where is your gps antenna located? If it's anywhere near amps, large speakers, then the magnets and other components will undoubtedly disrupt your gps signal. you can try moving it away from these parts and see how it works. 2. the guy above makes a very strong point about the wiring. Unless the wires are shielded very well, you're going to get interference at very high voltages/currents. you can try twisting the wires, but again shielding is your best option, but i don't have any suggestions about wiring vendors that would be suitable for this application.
  13. That's what I thought as well, so I didn't bother connecting the blue wire. Unfortunately, I only received 3 radio stations on both AM and FM. The integrated antenna (in the window) still requires power and after I connected the antenna power, it worked properly.
  14. where is your gps receiver placed? placing it near amps or metal obstructions can decrease accuracy regardless of what the AVIC says.
  15. when i hooked up my nissan altima 07, i hooked up the blue wire on the factory attenna adapter to antenna power on the factory adapter to the AVIC harness, not the nissan harness. I don't remember what color the wire was. But after I connected the wire, the radio works much better.
  16. you have to go in the settins and there is a setting for that aswell and you can change the speed that it kicks in at as low as 30-40k/h and 140 i think is max I'm talking about the US version? I'm guessing by your use of the "k/h" that you're not in the US. There is a speed sensitive setting, but that only affects the navigation voice and alert prompts, not the music/video volume.
  17. great improvement. kudos pioneer. one thing i wish they would've added would be speed sensitive volume control... but that might be difficult since each car's audio system and acoustics are different. unlike car manufacturers that can calibrate the system with a known car model. not griping, i think pioneer is finally delivering on their product. still. it'd be nice to have.
  18. i thought the metal plate was just so that the GPS antenna had a metal surface to magnetically hold to. i, too, have my GPS antenna under the dash and forward. Signal did decrease a little, but nothing significant.
  19. i don't think the AVIC uses VSS unless the GPS signal is low or lost. The NAV settings screen is only displaying the speed as calculated through the GPS. When I lose signal (when using tunnels or in densely populated areas), the GPS will no longer display the data, but the map will still show my vehicle moving... (as opposed to the arrow staying stationary when you usually lose GPS signal) I think the VSS gets used when the GPS loses signal. VSS and the internal gyros of the AVIC are then used to calculate position and direction. Other than those times, I don't think VSS gets used. Whe
  20. it's most likely because the gain on your amp or converter is set too low. there should be a knob that you can turn that would adjust the gain. don't set your unit to max volume... it might cause damage to your amp, head unit, speakers, or all of them.
  21. just ground it to a vehicle chassis through a screw when installing the unit. i have three wires hooked up to ground. don't remember what they all were though...
  22. Motorola z6c here Works well most of the time. It does tend to get a little buggy in the connection. Once in awhile the AVIC will freeze up my phone when trying to connect and the phone will have to reboot once, but the second attempt usually works flawlessly. there was one time when the phone connected and the AVIC (for some reason) set the phone volume to max and wouldn't display the controls for the phone on the screen. made me worry about blowing speakers and had to reset the phone.
  23. Understandable. I figured the amount of interference from taller buildings as well as general EMI from densely populated areas would disrupt any type of accuracy, but I just wanted to ask to make sure that it wasn't just my unit. I understand the cause, but I'd like to poll others from the nyc area to see if they, too, have this problem.
