  1. Do the files in the MiTACAP folder overwrite files already on the unit? With update 2, do you have to change the files within that folder?
  2. I posted it before, but both Car Toys and Best Buy were $300 + Car Toys: Head Unit install: $250 GPS Wire Run: $50 Bluetooth wire run: $50 HD Radio: $50 ============= Total: $400 + tax Best Buy: Head Unit install: $200 (guess they included the wire) Bluetooth wire Run: $50 HD Radio: $60 ============= Total: $310 + tax That's not including the Wire Harness, Facia Adaptor, Antenna Splitter, Antenna Adaptor. I ordered the the above bits plus a couple tools and wiring kit for $100 and did the job myself, very pleased looks great.
  3. I don't think you will see once with the F series, your best bet is to wait until next year for Pioneers next model.
  4. So I ordered this http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/ ... =12040UV44 which is a spliter. You only need it if you want MSN Direct or to use the FM tuner on the head unit, so pretty much needed.
  5. You need to set AV2 to Video and then the 3.5mm jack will work like a standard aux port. You will get a video screen also, but nothing shows unless you use a special cable.
  6. I thought most people who use forums would know about RTFM before they post.
  7. try searching for sony on live.com and the link might appear. It comes and goes, it used to be 35% now 25%. I got mine at 30%. Some days it's not there at all.
  8. this happened to me sometimes also. Search for something like sony on live.com then search for avic on ebay once you get the cashback offer appearing.
  9. No, the F700 does not have the correct chip avaliable.
  10. Right so you can only search while driving if you do the software mod or cable bypass. There is a reason for that, so you can't really complain about that functionality. As for searching I find it pretty good. If you type about 3 to 5 characters after selecting a poi it pretty much finds the place first in the list.
  11. So by the time the Pioneer unit is powered up and running it already has locked the signal. So maybe it's not so bad in that respect. I guess the iPod stuff is not too great, but after this weekend of using HD Radio I am loving it. You know you get extra stations too! Really sweet stuff.
  12. Are you using the RCA connectors of the harness you provided the link to? There are specific RCA connectors that come in the box, try connecting them instead.
  13. I should mention that if you buy the head unit from them I think Best Buy offer free installation and Car Toys offer installation for $70 from $250. But I paid $500 for my F90bt while both car toys and BB only had the 900bt and it was $850, so either way you pay for it.
  14. I doubt there will be one anytime soon.
  15. So for the parking break message, is that when you are diving? If so there is a software mod or you can do the mute wire trick. As for the GPS you can't configure it. When you say it thinks your house is down the road, did you enter your home address by typing in the address? Sometimes the street numbers are not perfect, in that case you should choose a point on the road or even just change your house number until it matches up. This isn't a problem by pioneer, but a defect of the maps. You'll find that all GPS devices are not 100% accurate.
  16. 1: You will need a wire harness and possible a dash kit unless your car has a double din slot already. Check with your installer as they might include the wire harness as part of the price. Also make sure they don't cut the existing wires and that they use a harness, I've heard of some scary stories. 2: So my quotes were: Car Toys: $250 to install the head unit, $50 to run the GPS Wire, $50 to run the Mic wire, $50 to install the HD Radio add-on Best Buy: $200 to install the head unit, $50 to run the mic wire and $60 for the HD Radio. Seems they included the GPS wir
  17. What I feel about the map views is that when in 2D view while driving having it view north all the time is ok. It's like looking at maps.live.com. This is great because it's easier to remember when looking there and at the unit. While in 3D mode there are tons of options to configure it. You can stop the zooming, you can adjust the quality. Then you can mod it all even further if you so choose. I don't think you will be disapointed.
  18. That's right. MSN Direct adds Movie Listings, Full Prices, Weather (though you could just look out the window) and Traffic reports. I've not activated my MSN Direct yet because for some reason MSNDirect.com fails to recognise my unit number, so I need to call them to activate it.
  19. They should be the same.
  20. I went ahead and bought the F90bt. I was worried about the no 2D direction up, but the 3D view works just aswell as the 2D mode you can't really tell. It's a shame that this is such a big issue, but 3D works really well.
  21. Some phones just don't work well. Bluethooth is not perfect, but works for most cases. What's your phone and how are you connecting it to the unit. For me I made my phone visable over bluethooth and then used the avic to search for devices. It picked it up first time and connected fine. Even the address book transfered fine which was unexpected.
  22. So my car is a Nissan Rogue and it has a powered antenna. After some searching I was able to confirm that. I hooked it up to the antenna power connection on the stereo and it worked perfectly. It was funny though because at first it didn't do anything even though it was setup right, but after I hooked the lot together it was great. The sound is so much better than standard FM, so I guess maybe where you're from. I'm up near Seattle over in Kirkland and it just works so well and sounds great. I'm really pleased.
  23. My F90bt arrived on Thursday after being lost by my works mailroom! THE INSTALL: So I installed it in around 3 to 4 hours. I wanted to finish it all in daylight, but it was 8pm before I was done. The only pain point really was stripping the speaker cable wire as I didn't have a wire stripper. So all that took an hour. I have a Nissan Rogue and it was pretty straight forward install. I bought a wire worm to help feed the cables and I totally recommend getting one as if I didn't have that there was no way I would be able to run everything. Getting the microphone cable behind the

    OSX Anyone?

Seriously. there is osx running on the avic? I don't quite believe that.
  25. I installed my 90bt today and it's fantastic. I didn't install the VSS either and it still works amazingly. I was outside with a signal then drove into my works underground carpark and it could still follow me around in it where there was no signal. Pretty impressive indeed.
